(Q) Recovery - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

I read somewhere that Alpharev X will also install a recovery and you can just use ROM manager after the process is done to get CWM 4. Is this correct?

Alpharev attempted to push a recovery but failed for me. I was using windows. I pushed a recovery manually then opened rom manager and it made me reflash recovery. It wasn't that bad. There's a good video in the root guide on androidforums that shows what to do if recovery fails with Alpharev.

[Q] Cannot get Amon_RA 1.8.0 to work

I am trying to update my recovery from 1.7.0.1 to 1.8.0 and it's not working. When I run the adb command, it is successful, but when I attempt to boot into recovery the phone sits at the white "HTC EVO 4G" screen.
I tried via adb, terminal on the phone, and fastboot, all seemed successful but I got the same result. I was able to revert back to 1.7.0.1 and it works fine via the same method. I just want to be able to flash unsigned .zip files without going back to Clockwork. Any ideas?
You may have a bad copy, try downloading another copy and seeing if that will help. The one attached worked for me and should be good.
If that doesn't work, download rom manager from the market, have it install clockworkmod recovery and then select the option to install an alternate recovery and select AmanRa 1.8.
Check the MD5 of what you downloaded. Amon_RA specifically states to do so. Your own fault if that's the cause, and you flashed a bad version, all because you didn't follow instructions. :|

[Q] Clockworkmod Recovery 3.0.0.6 mod please Close

Question.... i rooted my phone using unrevoked and installed 2.5.0.1 but now i want to use the 3.0.0.6 i have it downlaoded and on the sd card of my phone and i ran it in recovry and it loads fine how ever when i restart my phone the recovery keeps reverting to 2.5.0.1
could someone just tell me where im going wrong with this XD
cheers the only thing i can think of doing is instaling a RUU then rerooting with a img of 3.0.0.6
Cheers
Hi there,
Try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901503
Well i have tryed to use unrevoked to flash the img file and it always passes the first reboot how ever it always eather failes with a communications error or it sits on waiting for system to settle. and after a reboot it still running the old clockworkmod recovery
I,ve managed to successfully go through the whole Unrevoked process, selecting custom image, yet I still have the old cwm recovery
Unless I run update. Zip. Or start. Recovery from rom manager I'm still using the old version. Is there something we are doing wrong or is there another method

I have succesfully flashed it with unrevoked. Downloaded it from here http://mirror.kanged.net/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.6-buzz.img
However first time it stucks at htc logo and then unrevoked says "waiting for root (safe to reboot if not working)" or something similar, so i disconected phone, pulled battery, booted and stared all again. This time everything went fine.
Only problem was that rom manager was still saying that im on 2.5.0.1, so downloaded this http://mirror1.kanged.net/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.6-buzz.zip and copied into sdcard\clockworkmod\download\mirror1.kanged.net\recoveries\ and deleted the old one from this path.
Hope it helped...
Finally managed to flash cwm 3.0.0.6 using Unrevoked 3.14. Unrevoked 3.2xx just didnt seem to work at all for me. Recovery is now a joy to use, and performing nandroid backups seems much faster
Sorry for the stupid question, but where can i get version 3.14? when i go to unrevoced.com i can only get version 3.32 wich says "Device Wildfire not supported".
Strange because I've rooted my Wildfire on this PC with unrevoked, so all Drivers are installed and it should work. I think it's a problem with the new version.
thanks in advance
Can't remember where I found it, but I still have it. I'll upload it later
After instal recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.6-buzz.img tru Unrevoked v3.14 there is problem with ROM CyanogenMod V7.0.0-RC2 superuser dont work i need to flash back with RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.14.405.2_R_C_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.19_release_141106_signed.exe then again run Unrevoked v3.2 and after that do restore with 2.5.1
Unrevoked 3.14, for anyone who needs it
http://rapidshare.com/files/453198400/reflash_package.zip
rapidshare link expired, i just tried
http://downloads.unrevoked.com/recovery/3.14/reflash.tar.gz
and it's working..
Reflashed clockwork 3.0.0.6 with it without problems.

You can't update recovery from ROM Manager. We don't have s-off.
Edit: In fact I'm not sure if ROM Manager can do it even with s-off.
My rom manager recovery is 3.0.0.6
I have described few posts back how i manage to do it.
And i also have fake recovery 2.5.0.1 i some zips have amend script and i dont have time to convert it.

I meant, you can't permanently flash your recovery via ROM Manager. For that you need to use a reflash tool (Unrevoked for us) or use fastboot if you have s-off.
Oh, that, right. Sorry, my mistake.
Flashing recovery without rooting
Is there a way to flash a recovery using unrevoked without rooting?
I really need to send my phone to my carrier so I'm worried that they could find I've been messing around with it and void my warranty...
Ruu it from windows

Are you having 2 superuser app conflicting each other after flashing via Unrevoked 3.14 as it is described in other threads? (ClockworkMod v3.0.2.4)

Rooting Issue....again

Alright i had to get a new Dinc 2 because my lights for the bottom control buttons quit working. So i am trying to root again but i have to downgrade from android 2.3.4 to 2.2.1 with the file PG32IMG.zip. So i do that and now everytime i try to get into my recover after i push everything to my phone i get into the hboot and it does that scan thing it does, and then it just keeps trying to apply that PG32IMG file. And if i try to delete the file after i'm downgraded i can boot into hboot everything works fine but when i select recover it acts like it wants to go into it and then i get the screen with the phone and the exclamation point which im guessing means bricked. but i can reboot my phone and it works just phone. Is there anything i can do??
Did you use revolutionary exploit to root. It sounds as if you don't have a custom recovery installed.
If you are rooted then install Tom manager from market and flash recovery or download 4ext updater and install 4ext recovery. Then try to boot into recovery.

As far as the yellow triangle that is the stock recovery built into the Android operating system. You aren't bricked.

well last night i had gained s-off and couldnt get into recovery so i got back to s-on and now today i'm trying to run revolutionary and it keeps failing.....should i just give up?

No. Try to redo the ruu. Then root using revolution (well try to). Then download rom manager and check you recovery. When ever I ruu I will always reflash recovery through rom manager. Although I have switched to 4ext recovery.

[Q] ClockworkMod recovery E:Can't mount CACHE:...

Hi,
I rooted a friend's HTC desire a while ago but never installed a custom ROM, it's still sitting on the stock sense ROM.
Recently they got an OTA update and they tried to install it in the regular way, which of course didn't work. I tried to apply the update via ROM manager and then clockworkmod recovery but I keep getting errors:
E:Can't find MISC
E:Can't mount CACHE:/recovery/command
...
I also get errors when trying to backup or trying to install the update, including the file doesn't exist and can't mount sdcard (photo attached). However, I am able to browse the sd card fine from within clockworkmod (i.e., when selecting "install ROM from SD card" option).
I have tried flashing different versions of clockworkmod to no avail, always the same issue (tried 2.x and 5.x)
Do you guys have any idea what I can do? Note that this is a friend's phone so I don't have unlimited access to it, it will take me a while to try different things out.
Thanks!
Your friend's Deire might be a PVT4 one. These hardwarerevisions so not work with CWM Recovery.
So Flash 2.3.3 RUU (save important data before you do that) and use Revolutionary to set your friend's phone S-OFF. Than flash a different recovery via fastboot (most recommended are 4EXT or RMD) and then flash the superuser.zip from Revolutionarywebsite to give your friend's Desire root.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot.
Note that I already have S-OFF and root on the phone, I did it using Unrevoked and it worked like a charm. Clockworkmod recovery is installed, it just won't actually work. So I can't actually flash anything right now, not even stock ROM.
I'll try install Amon Ra using ROM manager and see how we go from there.
Apologies, here is the promised attached photo.
Look for 4Ext Recovery thread here on the Desire Section. You will be able to get an apk from that post. Install it and download the 4Ext Recovery using that app. Its better than Clockworkmod.
via xda app

4ext.net and install from the application itself (recovery updater), and I agree, is MUCH better than Colckworkmod

[Q] Problem with CWM 5.0.2.0 stable installation.

Actually, I got no place to post my question. So, I thought of starting a new thread.
I have installed CyanogenMod 7 on my HTC buzz by downgrading its stock rom as it suffered a OTA update before. I guess you guys r well aware about the process.
During the downgrade, my phone got Revolutionary CWM 4.x.x.x by default. In fact, I have flashed CM7 using revolutionary.
Now, CM7 comes with ROM Manager built-in and I tried to install CWM 5.0.2.0 recovery right form the GUI. The update.zip was downloaded. I could update it manually form my recovery options.
But, it was not stable. Each time I boot into recovery, Revolutionary CWM shows up, instead of CWM 5.0.2.0. To use it again, I have update the package each and every time.
Is is quite normal? Or, I am missing something? Plz help with advice.:crying:
I did this via Rom manager. Not through Recovery.

Yes this is normal for ROM manager as using ROM manager is only giving you a temp recovery over your stock ( in your case revolutionary cwm ) to get the cwm 5.0.2.0 you want you need to get either a PC49IMG.zip version of the cwm and use the boot loader method, use ADB/Fast boot method or use the terminal emulator method.
Tutorials are all over the wildfire thread and so are the necessary files etc.

That what u have to flash is temporary.
For permanent recovery, copy the recovery onto your pc.
Turn on the willy in hboot mode, goto fastboot connect usb
Type fastboot flash recovery name.zip
here name is the name of recovery zip AS IT IS.
