Hi, Iam new here; this forum helped me alot!
So, I started w/ Wildfire, official froyo (hboot 1.001), got S-OFF via alpharevX and rooted using GingerBreak 1.20. Everything was working fine, I had cyanogenmod 7.0.3 istalled for a while.
Then I moved back to stock with "RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_Radio_13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed", clockwork got replaced with default recovery - understandable (alpharev beta is still there, hboot wasnt replaced!). Now Id like to install OC kernel (0130_kernel_overclock_jacob_2.6.32_v1), I have the original froyo rooted, but ROM Manager wont install clockwork recovery anymore (tried 2.5 and 3 versions), I always boot into stock recovery (red triangle and ! thingy).
How to reflash it to clockwork recovery? Thanks
Use Fastboot. Refer either guide:

You can get the required files from the first thread I linked above, its in the attachment called win-tools.
thanks, got it.
Ive also find the blogspot guide, but files were no longer available

Question.... i rooted my phone using unrevoked and installed 2.5.0.1 but now i want to use the 3.0.0.6 i have it downlaoded and on the sd card of my phone and i ran it in recovry and it loads fine how ever when i restart my phone the recovery keeps reverting to 2.5.0.1
could someone just tell me where im going wrong with this XD
cheers the only thing i can think of doing is instaling a RUU then rerooting with a img of 3.0.0.6
Cheers
Hi there,
Try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901503
Well i have tryed to use unrevoked to flash the img file and it always passes the first reboot how ever it always eather failes with a communications error or it sits on waiting for system to settle. and after a reboot it still running the old clockworkmod recovery
I,ve managed to successfully go through the whole Unrevoked process, selecting custom image, yet I still have the old cwm recovery
Unless I run update. Zip. Or start. Recovery from rom manager I'm still using the old version. Is there something we are doing wrong or is there another method
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
I have succesfully flashed it with unrevoked. Downloaded it from here http://mirror.kanged.net/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.6-buzz.img
However first time it stucks at htc logo and then unrevoked says "waiting for root (safe to reboot if not working)" or something similar, so i disconected phone, pulled battery, booted and stared all again. This time everything went fine.
Only problem was that rom manager was still saying that im on 2.5.0.1, so downloaded this http://mirror1.kanged.net/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.6-buzz.zip and copied into sdcard\clockworkmod\download\mirror1.kanged.net\recoveries\ and deleted the old one from this path.
Hope it helped...
Finally managed to flash cwm 3.0.0.6 using Unrevoked 3.14. Unrevoked 3.2xx just didnt seem to work at all for me. Recovery is now a joy to use, and performing nandroid backups seems much faster
Sorry for the stupid question, but where can i get version 3.14? when i go to unrevoced.com i can only get version 3.32 wich says "Device Wildfire not supported".
Strange because I've rooted my Wildfire on this PC with unrevoked, so all Drivers are installed and it should work. I think it's a problem with the new version.
thanks in advance
Can't remember where I found it, but I still have it. I'll upload it later
After instal recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.6-buzz.img tru Unrevoked v3.14 there is problem with ROM CyanogenMod V7.0.0-RC2 superuser dont work i need to flash back with RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.14.405.2_R_C_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.19_release_141106_signed.exe then again run Unrevoked v3.2 and after that do restore with 2.5.1
Unrevoked 3.14, for anyone who needs it
http://rapidshare.com/files/453198400/reflash_package.zip
rapidshare link expired, i just tried
http://downloads.unrevoked.com/recovery/3.14/reflash.tar.gz
and it's working..
Reflashed clockwork 3.0.0.6 with it without problems.

You can't update recovery from ROM Manager. We don't have s-off.
Edit: In fact I'm not sure if ROM Manager can do it even with s-off.
My rom manager recovery is 3.0.0.6
I have described few posts back how i manage to do it.
And i also have fake recovery 2.5.0.1 i some zips have amend script and i dont have time to convert it.

I meant, you can't permanently flash your recovery via ROM Manager. For that you need to use a reflash tool (Unrevoked for us) or use fastboot if you have s-off.
Oh, that, right. Sorry, my mistake.
Flashing recovery without rooting
Is there a way to flash a recovery using unrevoked without rooting?
I really need to send my phone to my carrier so I'm worried that they could find I've been messing around with it and void my warranty...
Ruu it from windows

Are you having 2 superuser app conflicting each other after flashing via Unrevoked 3.14 as it is described in other threads? (ClockworkMod v3.0.2.4)
Ok I really need XDA to help my friend out in his hour of need (Yes it is my friend, honest!)
Having become impatient with HTC's will they/won't they HTC Desire Gingerbread support, he decided it was high time to root his o2 HTC Desire GSM.
Using Unrevoked he rooted his handset and installed Clockwork Mod recovery. So far so good. What he didn't have however was S-Off - that was to be the next step. Before going ahead he decided to make a Nandroid backup. Again so-far so good. Then he decided to restore that backup. This is where it goes wrong. After restoring he is stuck in a boot loop (and he's tried wiping cache etc etc, so that's not the reason). He can get back to recovery (So I don't think he's bricked), but can't seem to install any fresh ROM's such as the latest Miui. I've got a feeling the roms he is trying to install are trying to write to /system which is currently protected due to the lack of S-Off, but this is at best an educated guess. So a couple of questions:
1: Are there any rom's he can install without S-Off being required?
(Were there custom rom's pre S-Off that could be installed? - If so can you link to one - I was under the impression that achieving S-Off only became possible at the end of last year, so if so how did or could you flash a custom rom beforehand?)
2: Would flashing the official HTC o2 rom through clockwork mod recovery get him back in action? If yes, I presume this would remove root and custom recovery?
I would add that he's fairly new to the rooting scene and ADB is probably a little advanced for him at this stage.
Thanks in advance,
Robbie.

I'm no expert, but I flashed Leedroid v2.5 while S-on, without a problem. Download it from the thread (I can't post links yet, sorry, but if you put 768703 into the search box, it's the top result), put the rom on the sdcard (via pc) boot to clockworkmod, and install update. May not be an ideal solution, but maybe worth a try?
There isn't any rom which requires s-off.
Flashing the official o2 htc rom will set the phone to state before using unrevoked.
Which hardwarerevision does your friend's desire have? Check out this way:
1.) Download connectbot from android market
2.) Start it, set "local" and write any name
3.) Type
Code:
cat /pro/mtd
Now look at the column "erasesize". If there stands a 40000, your friend's desire has a newer hardwarerevision. With this the usually flashed recovery by unrevoked (clockworkmod recovery) does not work.
You have to flash a different recovery, amonra 2.0.1.
Download the img here:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/20471345/SUroot/Tools/Android/Recovery/recovery-RA_2.0.1.img
Then, start unrevoked, file>custom recovery>choose downloaded recovery. Now run unrevoked again. Now your friend should be able to flash things like custom roms from recovery.
Hope i have posted in the right place...
firstly it bit of a background to what i did before my phone wont work.
i succesfully got S-of using Alpharevx and ROOT using Super one click
i then tried to get Clockwork recovery installed i tried to flash this using Root toolbox this apeared to work but when i rebooted the phone it now stays on HTC loaging screen
i have tried to in HBOOT but Recovery just flashes the screen and goes back into Hboot
is there any ways of flashing a Stock recovery image from my pc?
many thanks Michael
Installing Clockworkmod from the PC is what you should have done in the first place. It's far easier and prevents many hassles.
Follow this post, and use Fastboot to flash Clockworkmod again. Or, if you would rather not have Clockworkmod and necessarily want the Stock Recovery, flash an RUU, it will restore the stock recovery.

I have sorted it now worked great
Thanks
Hi,
Recently I turned my Wildfire S-Off with AlphaRevX. After Rooting with SuperOneClick I tried to install CWM 2.5.0.7 with Rom-Manager.
Rom-Manager itself told me everything went right. I tried to boot to Recovery, BUT:
Just got a Red Punctuation mark and after pressing Vol Up it said "Command not found in /Recovery/ "
Is this a known problem?
I think I can try to flash CWM via fastboot, but i'm not sure if I should do that.
The big question is: Are there any known problems with CWM 2.5.0.7 and HBOOT 1.01.00002 (don't know, but I think thats my version) after flashing via Fastboot?
Will it be possible to use Rom-Manager to install Roms?
Thx
BBsan
The same here.
How are you trying to access Recovery Mode? If you use the conventional Vol Down + Power, it will not work, and, as such, can only be accessed when you select Reboot into Recovery from within ROM Manager.
Anyway, Getting CWM from ROM Manager is more like a "temporary / secondary" way to get it. It is recommended to use Fastboot to write a Recovery directly to the NAND. Using it will not have any issues (Did it personally).
Lastly, your HBoot will be 6.01, after using AlphaRev X. There will be no issues using v2.5.0.7. The problem is, you will not be able to install Gingerbread ROMs, and, if you install v3.x.x.x, you will not be able to install Sense Froyo ROMs and Radios. Hence, the recommended technique is to Flash a Clockworkmod 3.x via Fastboot (ie in your NAND), and, Flash Clockworkmod again, but via ROM Manager to get 2.x. So, you have both,
Okay thx alot, I'll try tonight.
What Version does unrevoked flash by default?
I've got a second wildfire with old HBOOT and was able to flash CM7 without any problems via Rom-Manager.
Interesting.. Though I personally keep ROM Managers CWM as a Secondary one, more so, because one needs both 2.x and 3.x these days.
ROM Manager flashes 2.5.0.7 by default, although you can change it if you need to.
Hmm okay So I'll try and post if I succeeded
EDIT:
OK everything now worked fine THX for help!
EDIT2:
I was able to install CM 7 with 2.5.0.7!
Actually, I got no place to post my question. So, I thought of starting a new thread.
I have installed CyanogenMod 7 on my HTC buzz by downgrading its stock rom as it suffered a OTA update before. I guess you guys r well aware about the process.
During the downgrade, my phone got Revolutionary CWM 4.x.x.x by default. In fact, I have flashed CM7 using revolutionary.
Now, CM7 comes with ROM Manager built-in and I tried to install CWM 5.0.2.0 recovery right form the GUI. The update.zip was downloaded. I could update it manually form my recovery options.
But, it was not stable. Each time I boot into recovery, Revolutionary CWM shows up, instead of CWM 5.0.2.0. To use it again, I have update the package each and every time.
Is is quite normal? Or, I am missing something? Plz help with advice.:crying:
I did this via Rom manager. Not through Recovery.

Yes this is normal for ROM manager as using ROM manager is only giving you a temp recovery over your stock ( in your case revolutionary cwm ) to get the cwm 5.0.2.0 you want you need to get either a PC49IMG.zip version of the cwm and use the boot loader method, use ADB/Fast boot method or use the terminal emulator method.
Tutorials are all over the wildfire thread and so are the necessary files etc.

That what u have to flash is temporary.
For permanent recovery, copy the recovery onto your pc.
Turn on the willy in hboot mode, goto fastboot connect usb
Type fastboot flash recovery name.zip
here name is the name of recovery zip AS IT IS.
