[Q] Any good Title bar/battery mods for MikG? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have looked and looked for some decent battery mods and title bar mods for MikG. I have not had too much luck finding anything I like for sense 2.1. What I was wondering is if it might be possible to flash battery mods made for sense 2.0? I was going to nandroid and start flashing, but figured I'd see if anyone had some insight first.

Whats up guys? been following this site for a while.. but never joined lol because i didnt have a decent phone.. Well now i have a evo that i just rooted with unrevoked, as well as i have flashed over to Amon_ra. Now my question is (besides i will do a lot more reading but..) What do i do next? i am wanting my phone to run as it did stock (no glitching or crash's) I want to overclock the evo for more speed, I heard of cm6 & turbo ... (not sure of the full name) is pretty insane fps wise and the quickness it allows. If i could have figured this out by searching, i am sorry i am just very persistant lol.
Thanks again,
you guys are AWESOME!

Well you can always just run the Stock rooted ROM and find a good kernel compatible with it.
try myns warm twopointtwo. wait for rls5 to come out or it will be glitchy with your hardware.
welcome to the root crew.
Welcome
If you are looking for something similar to stock I would personally try "Sprint Lovers Rom". You can install any kernel you want and download "Setcpu" to overclock your phone. My favorite rom is Myns Warm two point two, but I am waiting until he releases his next version which should be compatible with the new Radios, PRI, PRLS etc. You might also want to stay away from any of the Gingerbread based roms until they are fully ported over and bug free.
The rom you mentioned in your post is Cyanogen Mod. Although this is a good rom, it is also an AOSP rom which doesn't have HTC Sense. Therefore if your looking for something similar to stock but with all the tweaks and goodies you should choose a Sense Based Rom.
Best advise is to just keep flashing & flashing until you find the Rom that you like best. Everyone's tastes are different and there is no "Best Rom" out there, it just personal preference.
Hope this helps
Thank you all, who responded I am gonna try out the "Sprint lovers"
"Myna" roms far as the kernel I am not to sure about those just yet. Need to read up still.. lol So for now I am very open to suggestions . I look forward to expanding my knowledge on here with ya'll. I just don't want to brick my phone, I will die! Lol I love my evo!
P.s do I do the "Back up's" and "Nandroid" back up's, when changing roms and kernels?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
first, DEFINETALLY DO A NANDROID BACKUP. as a general rule, backup whenever you like the state your phone is in (before you make a mod) and always have at least one backup handy always. titanium backups are helpful for changing roms because you can get all your app's data back. helpful on games and the like.
for kernels, i would suggest netarchy's 4.3. he says its is beta, but thats just because net likes his work to be perfect. it is as stable as anythign else. it has a nice sbc tweak as well. test many kernels. those are particular by phone. that is why people with the same phone get different battery life. what works well on one phone is terrible on another. so try netarchy's, maybe kingx's (off forum), and some others. i cant think of any more. i personally use netarchys though.

Best rom/kernel for the wife?

Hey guys my wife has an htc droid incredible that she wants better performance out of. As of yet she is always complaining about how it sucks and its slow and boring. I'm sure she will want something she can use a theme on, and something extremely stable..the last thing I need is to hear her freaking out that it is messing up on her.
Also I have no idea if there is a way to create a nandroid backup on the dinc like I do with the fascinate with clockwork, hopefully there is because whatever I end up doing I need to be able to go back without a hitch...
Any and all thoughts/suggestions are greatly appreciated guys! Thanks!

Sense or non-sense?
Its the wife..of course nonsense. Lol really though I'm sure sense but as long as i am able to revert no problem we can try non-sense. If she ends up not liking any of it I need to be able to restore to like it never happened and she can go on with all her stuff there lol

Try that or maybe Incredibly Re-Engineered, and maybe update to Lou's #9 for a kernel.
Awesome. What are the general steps to backing up and then flashing the above? (or anything else on the dinc for that matter) the most I have done is unrevoked and that's just as easy as super one click root lol

I'm not sure if i'm allowed to post links to another site since i'm new to this forum but i'll pm you a link to a tutorial.
Awesome. Thanks brother!

Not sure if it sent or not so i sent it again. Anytime.
Lol I got it both times thanks I was actually in the middle of reading up on some of the stickies when you sent that

I recommend the Incredibly Re-Engineered rom. It is sense based and has been very stable and very good with both battery and performance. I am using v2.3.1 and the incredikernel kernel.
Also, I did not see if anyone responded to your question about the backup with clockwork. Clockwork backup does work with the incredible. I have had to use it a few times myself
edit: Oh by the way this is my first post. Hello to everyone here at XDA!
For "non" Sense I'd definitely go with CyanogenMod 7 RC1. It's fast, stable, and GINGERBREAD!!!

Hi.....welcome
As for the OP: After you figure out the nandroid backup stuff (which isn't too hard, esp since you have experience with your device)....
I stuck with Virtuous for a while which was basically an improved stock ROM...probably not what your wife wants if she wants it different and finds stock "boring" (but still a great rom). Unfortunately, not much development there anymore.
Skyraider sense was my next move. Loved it! Still sense, very stable, but lots of modifications and customizations available (ie: themes). A major upset was the fact that ihtfp69 stopped working on it for the time being.
However, I'm currently running CM7 (build #2) and it's great. Not a final version yet, so may not yet be as stable as she is looking for (though, I've only had 1 random reboot in 5 days of running different CM7 roms, otherwise, absolutely no other issues for me). But if you install it and set it up for her, and point her towards all the themes available, I'm sure she'd be happy.
So there's my experience, hope it provides some insight into the options for the Incredible I'm sure everyone else has their pros and cons, but I have honestly not been disappointed with any of the ROMs I've installed. These developers do a GREAT job!
Good luck

I have the same exact situation as the other guy. My wife wants me to work on her incredible. Could you send me that link as well. Thanks in advance!!!!!

I put IncROM on my wife's Incredible as her first ROM - it was good looking, stable, quite fast, and had insane battery life w/ the stock HTC kernel.
She's since migrated to UlitmateDroid with me, as it has a whole different look/feel, and tons of options, as do many AOSP ROMs. Give AOSP a look for something different.
If not AOSP, some of the Z ROMs are pretty cool too.
That's part of the fun of being rooted; getting to try on different stuff, see what fits you best.
Happy modding!
Let me dig up the links again for ya.
Being someone who has tried a lot of ROM's and Kernels..
Sense kernels run the best for incredibles. I haven't found a non-sense (aka AOSP) that will run without a few significant bugs.
One of the quickest, most stable and clean sense ROM's would be
- Sky Raider's 3.5:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=764787
An excellent Kernel that majorly helped improve my battery life
- Chad's Incredikernel :
http://chad0989.dyndns.org/2.6.32.27-incredikernel-12232010-plus25v.zip
You will need clockwork installed to create nandroid backups and also to flash new ROM's and Kernels, and additionally rooting your phone can be found below:
http://unrevoked.com/#inc
>> Everyone has their preference and I highly respect every developer on here, but there was just a few things in Lou's Kernel that bugged me.
I'm sure you will try a few ROM's before sticking with one, the above are just my suggestions. When running Chad's kernel, do not use setCPU or anything like it because it already has (a better) one built in that helps extend battery life with screen off, and performance/battery with screen on
Thanks everyone! And welcome to the forums brother

Just a thought but if stock Sense is boring to her, she may eventually want to try an AOSP ROM. In that case, I would recommend MIUI with Invisiblek #28 and, by that time, I'm sure Cyanogenmod 7 will have a stable release. Its bad a** and gingerbread based. Also, if she decides to stay with Sense and simply wants more options for it, Virtuous is another stable Sense ROM.

Try out 'Launcher Pro' (maybe PRO if you like it). It has really cool transition effects that your wife would probably love (I love 'em)
It's what I use instead of the regular sense UI.
Check this vid out for a better idea:

You can get this from the droid market for free. PRO gets you the widgets I think, not much else.
You can also adjust the speed of transition that will make your phone seem much faster. I know the stock incredible homescreens are pretty laggy.

[Q] n00b question

accidentally posted in general sorry!!
I have recently just started the rooting and flashing of new ROM's to my evo very very recently. "BTW this site is amazing, like you didn't already know." Anyway I was wondering if there were anyway to add on things a ROM didn't have. Like for my example-- i downloaded a King's ROM Ultra Blakk or something, anyway it doesn't have that turn off animation that is like the sense 3.0 animation(i think), from EVOlvedROMSHiFTed v2 has. Is there a way to do that? Sorry for the n00b-ness, i can take the laughter!! anyway you guys are amazing! Bunch of creative amazingness and i'm glad i'm on board!!
the best thing you can do is just read as much as you can about every ROM. For me, when I first started, I looked at the ROMs with the most replies, figuring it made sense, those were the most complete.
Then just playing with them, until I found the setups I liked the most.
Remember too, a lot of ROMS have addons and mods you can flash to give you different features.
Yeah that's pretty much what i do. My main point is/was this, i have the kings rom cause i like it. Just want to add the turn off animation from sense 3.0. I love the Kings ROM amazing....seriously... weiner hard when my phone turns on love it. Just want the animation. No way to do that?
Is it under display settings?
No I thought it might but I think it has to do with what the ROM is based on. Froyo, sense, MIUI. I assume anyway like I said still very new to all this. I checked the display settings. But no option to change animations. Not even sure if i'm asking the question right. Heh. Damn wish I could be as brilliant as some of these other peeps

If I stand corrected, wasn't Ultra Blackk like R3 and that was 2.2 [Froyo]? if so, I don't think the screen on/off animation will work on that rom. [This question has been asked before, and not bashing, just informing] Though sorry.
yeah man i don't know. Like i said still very very very new to this. Just trying to figure the in's and out's to all of this. kinda makes me wish there were a dummies how to book for all of this
You can try an app called "screen off and lock" from the market, but I'm not sure if it will work with standard 2.2 (froyo) roms. I know it works on my 2.2 rom (SkyRaider), but the proper adjustments were baked into the framework for my rom.

CM10 1% battery mod question

I'm not sure if anyone has looked into this, but I would like to make a 1% battery mod for the S3 on CM10, I have looked at porting guides for other devices, but they say use a device that is the same with the same sort of rom build, I was looking at a Galaxy Nexus AOKP Build realising that it would be wrong as aokp is much more heavily customized than cm10, If anyone could give me some direction as to which services.jar would be suitable for the port I would be grateful
Yeah. I am looking for the same thing. I got the images to work, but the 1% increment isn't there.

[Q] Quicksettings and other Tweaks in Sense 4+

Hey guys,
I tried several JB roms with Sense 4+ now and I loved all of them so far except for 1 thing:
Where have all the great tweaking options gone?
So my question for y'all is:
Is anyone working on a tweaking mod like the one from the Viper rom at the moment?
Or does anyone at least know how I can get my quicksettings back in Sense 4+?
I put my trust in the great XDA-community that someone is already working on this or has already done it :fingers-crossed:

There's no quick settings available for JB Sense ROMs yet. We must wait for the genius devs to figure it out.
Renovate 12 has quick settings doesn't it? Haven't tried myself though.
