With the GB update (I'm rooted runing stock minus bloat) the Exchange sync when roaming is disabled by default and you cannot change it. Is there a work around to enable this. I live in an Extended Network and with GB I now have to force the sync. I need my email as soon as it arives, not when I remember to check it. It worked fine with Froyo. WTH?

You have to go into Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Network and enable Data roaming, then the Sync when Roaming checkbox will be enabled.

I asked HTC support, and they sent me a small exe that does the job just fine, they plan to add this functionality in future ROM's.

this program disables data under roaming automatically

I usually just switch my Connections settings in Settings -> All Settings -> Connections -> Connections -> Advance -> Select Networks.
Change the dropdown menu to MY ISP in both Internet and Wap options.
You will not be able to connect to anything thing through the phone network.
Easy!
Once you get back, just change it back. No software required.
I dont want my Tilt 2 to connect to the data connection EVER! Is there a setting I can change to keep it from doing this? I only use wifi and refuse to pay for a data package.
Mike
settings /communications / data connection off should do what you are asking for
Call your carrier and have them block all data. That is the only true way.

They will not go for that, I am trying to stay under the radar for the whole manditory data package thing. are the phone and data all on the same radio setup? could I flash a wrong setup for data or anything?
Mike
Look up MoDaCo NoData, it disables data connections (such as MEdia Net and AT&T ISP GPRS). That, or go to Start>Settings>Connections>Connections>Advanced Tab>Select Networks Button and change both to My Work Network. That should block network connections over AT&T's network, since "My Work Network" is set not to connect to the internet, nor does it have any communications settings. Hope that helps

I did have them set to "my work network" copilot GPS still tried to get out. I will look for that NoData.
Thanks

This is how I disabled DATA connection on my T-Mobile branded touch pro 2.
Connections folder > Connections > Advanced > Select Networks > Drop down menu to T-Mobile Data (on programs that automatically connect to internet) > Edit > Select T-Mobile Data again > Edit > NEXT > Access Point Name : epicx.tmobile.com > Next > Next.
That is how I've been doing it on my previous WM phones (MDA, Wing) and now the Touch Pro 2
MMS will still work via data btw...It is just using diff server

It may try to get out, but it will not succeed. I just tried with Opera and it couldn't connect.
hi,
how do i edit connection settings in the messages folder to make my ROM usable with my provider's MMS settings? everything is greyed out and inaccessible.
i have the info needed from a working phone...
you need to check your APN settings
i dont have that option in wireless & networks

what option? if you mean "it's not there", that's the whole point, you need to add it >menu >new APN
you need to check with your telco as to what their MMS settings are
in mobile network settings what i get is data roaming, data roaming sound, enable always - on mobile connectivity, and system select (cdma roaming mode). thats it
i see the settings if i go to the messaging menu (inbox) then press menu - settings - connection settings. but they're inaccessible
Do you have a CDMA or GSM phone?
cdma...................
you really should have mentioned that, it's really very significant!
you need a ROM that supports CDMA phones, you can't just put whatever on there

dude i have a cdma rom
i can use the cell phone fine its just the mms settings are for US Cellular which is where the froyo rom comes from... thats not my company
i saw this one post a couple days back where someone edited a file inside the cell which gave him access to these settings. sadly i did not copy or bookmark the page but it was on xda.
Still stuck here fellas... Using pre rooted stock froyo cdma rom from this site.
Hello,
i installed the Jellybean 4.1 JRN84D rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737849 on my GN - now i was abroad and roaming worked fine but i did not get any data connection. Of course i enabled data roaming.
Is there any known Problem with data roaming?
(I have the european GSM version)
thanks
In "settings/More..." is "Mobile Network Settings" "Mobile Networks" where can enable Data, Data roaming, 2G only, etc, and then "Data Usage" in Settings where you can put 3G on which won't work abroad (at least for me..)
As said of course i enabled data and data roaming. I will be abroad again next week then i can check if the issue is the same with the current 4.1.1 doedexed ROM and if enabling "only 2G" helps as workaround.

I have been struggling with the same problem for a week but turns out that the image copied had the wrong APN settings! All you have to do to get data roaming working is going to Settings > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names then google your carriers APN settings and change them to it! This should make it work
contact with your carrier, they may know that, or change a rom to test if it is the problem of the rom!
Sorted wifi calling on Vodafone UK using https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78858125&postcount=6
Updated to Android 10 (Keep typing Windows 10 which is scary!!!!) and now the option is gone.
When I enter the code and go into phone information Wifi provisioning is greyed out and cannot be turned on.
I have turned wifi calling off via the vodafone app and turn back on again but still no joy.

I didnt have wifi calling at first, i did search for it on settings tab and it re appeared, im vodafone UK also.
Make sure carrier settings is up to date aswell.
Wifi calling is still here
Can someone on vodafone uk compare your wifi calling settings with mine please? Was working before update. Cant move the settings to on.
Thanks to anyone who can
Show your IMS settings, there u see, if u're registered for VoLTE or WFC.
Perhaps anything went wrong with APN settings after update?
Choose back to default on APN settings, or check them manually with the providers one.

Mines provisioned, but they are administrator only, hence greyed out and you cant toggle them yourself, only your carrier unless you root it, try adding clearing carrier settings, if you do you will have to clear the message app aswell, but sync will bring back messages, download shortcutter, navigate to carrier settings and toggle wifi , and also add ims apn, name ims, apn name is ims, set to ipv4 and ipv6 on both, dont fill anything else in and save it. now toggle it, it should jump back to default after you toggled it. If you disabled the wifi tab on vodafone website, each toggle takes 24 hours to register
All sorted. Took 3 attempts with vodafone. The last person said they would force the settings through the server and hey presto. All sorted.
Am now on vodafone settings version ending in 305.2 (It may be of use to someone!)
