[Q] No data-roaming with Android 4.1 ROM - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello,
i installed the Jellybean 4.1 JRN84D rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737849 on my GN - now i was abroad and roaming worked fine but i did not get any data connection. Of course i enabled data roaming.
Is there any known Problem with data roaming?
(I have the european GSM version)
thanks

In "settings/More..." is "Mobile Network Settings" "Mobile Networks" where can enable Data, Data roaming, 2G only, etc, and then "Data Usage" in Settings where you can put 3G on which won't work abroad (at least for me..)

As said of course i enabled data and data roaming. I will be abroad again next week then i can check if the issue is the same with the current 4.1.1 doedexed ROM and if enabling "only 2G" helps as workaround.

I have been struggling with the same problem for a week but turns out that the image copied had the wrong APN settings! All you have to do to get data roaming working is going to Settings > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names then google your carriers APN settings and change them to it! This should make it work

contact with your carrier, they may know that, or change a rom to test if it is the problem of the rom!

how do i edit connection settings in the messages folder to make my ROM usable with my provider's MMS settings? everything is greyed out and inaccessible.

what option? if you mean "it's not there", that's the whole point, you need to add it >menu >new APN
you need to check with your telco as to what their MMS settings are
in mobile network settings what i get is data roaming, data roaming sound, enable always - on mobile connectivity, and system select (cdma roaming mode). thats it
i see the settings if i go to the messaging menu (inbox) then press menu - settings - connection settings. but they're inaccessible
Do you have a CDMA or GSM phone?
cdma...................
you really should have mentioned that, it's really very significant!
you need a ROM that supports CDMA phones, you can't just put whatever on there

dude i have a cdma rom
i can use the cell phone fine its just the mms settings are for US Cellular which is where the froyo rom comes from... thats not my company
i saw this one post a couple days back where someone edited a file inside the cell which gave him access to these settings. sadly i did not copy or bookmark the page but it was on xda.
Still stuck here fellas... Using pre rooted stock froyo cdma rom from this site.

[Q] Voice roaming w/o activated data roaming

I have a rooted Desire Z aka Vision running CM 7.1.0 stable since it came out.
Past weekend I crossed the national border into Austria, and to my surprise the phone didn't even attempt to log into the foreign network. No problem to switch networks manually, but I would expect the device to do that just by itself (it's a tough job to go into "Settings - Wireless & Networking - Mobile Networks - Network Provider" etc. while driving a car...).
To save myself from excessive costs I have disabled data roaming on the device, but I'd like my phone to be able to be called up even while being abroad.
Is this something CM7 is not supporting? I think I remember that other ROMS including Stock HTC Sense supported this, but I'm not too sure about that.
If there's no proper support available, is there some alternative method like manually entering foreign network providers into some kind of "preferred networks" list?

[Q] VS985 G3 Running 5.0 CloudyG3 2.4 won't utilize LTE

For some odd reason I can still get SMS and Calls but I cannot connect to the internet except through Wifi. I noticed while on the play store that I don't have a Carrier[1] even though i'm obviously registered with Verizon Wireless.
I attempted to find the APN settings although CloudyG3 Completely re-arranged the network settings and I can't find it. I found something similar[2] under the mobile networks[3] tab (Settings> Tethering & Networks> Mobile Networks> Network Mode) but i'm not sure too if that is APN or not. (If someone knows please let me know)
I had Full LTE connection available yesterday before I flashed CloudyG3. I also had this problem when I attempted to flash Jasmine 7.0 and failed. My friend fixed it by doing something with the location services but I'm not sure what it was.
Network settings[4]
TL;DR LTE is not activated, can still send SMS and Voice Call. Phone is not registered under a carrier.
Enable Data Roaming and see if that works.
Tried that, nothing
Thanks for the suggestion

New roaming options after update?

I updated my g4 to marshmallow yesterday and I noticed in settings, when I select data roaming there are now three options, off, national only and all networks. Can someone explain what these options mean and which one I should be selecting if I go abroad. It used to just be an on/off option and I've never seen this before on any android phone I've had

OFF - Data disabled completely - same as hitting the toggle in the notification bar
National Only - You will have data only in your country. When abroad, you will have data marked as on but you won't have data
All networks - data will still work when you leave your country (with all the costs that might include)
Thanks! Not sure why they changed it when an on/off switch is fine.

Sprint Moto Z2 Force on Ting (WiFi Calling Missing)

I recently purchased a new Sprint Z2 Force and activated it on Ting (it has only ever been on Ting and never on Sprint directly). Both Sprint and Ting support WiFi calling on this phone, but WiFi calling is not listed under the WiFi settings or in the Call settings of the dialer. However if I search in the settings for WiFi calling, I can see a WiFi Calling Settings in the App Info section, yet there is no way to turn it on or open those settings. I have updated the profile multiple times and also did a factory reset.
Am I missing something or is there something missing in the software since it never got activated directly on Sprint?
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
I do the custom rom thing and i sort of remember it just being there however, if you have not already checked "Mobile Networks" - under main phone settings, select "Network & Internet" once there, select "Mobile Network" - you'll see your carrier stuff/APN there I believe if you select "enhanced 4G LTE Mode" (you may have to make LTE you're preferred network mode in order to enable and/or display that option, again this was already there on mine. But see if that opened up any new menu items elsewhere i.e. back in the dialer app settings under "calls".
Did your phone come with a sprint SIM? Do you have the other carrier bloatware on there like Sprint ID? I know what you meant earlier about a possible software bypass, but all of that stuff is deff on the phone somewhere like you observed in App info, it may just be a matter of popping in a sprint SIM card to unleash it..
I continued to look into this for you. Sprint's name for Wifi calling is, well was -"Calling Plus". I found this article that advises one of the recent update removed the feature;
https://community.sprint.com/t5/Buz...alling-PLUS-Service-Decommission/ba-p/1017775
Since you got the sprint version you still have lots of software modification options. I also have sprint z2 foce, but I get better coverage on a GSM netwrok so my device is half sprint\half tmobile and I can deff say the wifi calling works. There's tons of information on here I can always help direct ya, but at least you're not crazy it WAS there.
lastly just to be sure, this has to be done prior,
"Log into your Ting account online and go to Device settings. Find the device you want to enable Wi-Fi calling for and click the edit icon in the Minutes section."

Thank you for all the info so far! Here are some answers and additional info:
My phone did come with a Sprint Sim in it and that is the one I am using. Also there is not any of the Sprint Bloatware on the phone. If I search "Sprint" in my settings area, there is a My Sprint Launcher that is listed as Disabled and there seems to be no way to enable it, which is similar to the WiFi Calling Settings that shows up when I do a search for it in the settings. Also if I look at the Apps and "Show System" apps, Mobile ID is there which is the Sprint ID software I believe, but again it is Disabled with no option to enable it.
The WiFi calling is turned on in the Ting account.
The Calling Plus feature was disabled by Sprint in that link you shared, but that just disables WiFi calling over LTE. It does say regular WiFi Calling should be available.
On my phone when I go to Network & Internet > Cellular Networks> I see my Preferred Network Type which was Automatic, I switched it to LTE/CDMA. That does not seem to have opened any additional settings for me in the dialer or elsewhere.
Thanks again for all your support. If you have any other suggestions, let me know, but you have offered a lot already.
