I know most people here would rather not have it but I could really use it if someone has a working version for the Inc2. Lost it after root/CM7.
The free one works the same... And it's free

One of the main reasons I wanted a Droid X over the Droid Incredible was that it came stock with Swype. My dad has a Droid X with it and I love it, its so cool and I send around 500 txts a day. But, turns out I got the Incredible for my birthday -.- So I've already tried the .apk file, the 'trial version' is expired as soon as you install it.. and the beta is expired. Is the ANY way I can get it? Thanks
We can't really talk about pirate apps here, but it's very easy to find. Google my friend.

anyway you could send it my way too?
You could also sign up for the beta on the swype site. I'm not sure how long the wait is, though.

SlideIt does work good but a little pricey seeing Swype is free on the DroidX. Verizon needs to add SlideIT or Swype for free to the DInc. Until then the rampant "sharing" of the sywpe app wil continue whether or not it is in the open on xda forums. SlideIT is also available on google if you look hard enough. It is my backup when the beta on swype expires.

i have googled very hard and came up with nothing that works. I have the slcd screen, and that has made everything i do with this phone diffcult.
are you searching for the newest version?
btw....found it in 10 seconds....

Dude if you bought in the last 30 days go back and ask for an amoled.the ending serial on the box would be w2.it's what I did when I bricked my slcd.the last was like sure il take a look, my store had about 50 amoled
Hope this helps
Also all you that want swype, pm me and il send you a link if you want

IMO, the newest version of swype is a pain in the butt. If I type too quickly between two words, it thinks they are combined and I have to slow down which defeats the purpose of having it. ShapeWriter is a lot more accurate for me.

thinking of changing to republic, but i still want to keep my inc2. anyone have any ideas that knows more about this company?
I wouldn't recommended that. Republic seems too good to be true. You can keep your inc2 but you can not use it on their plan bc they have only one phone (LG optimus)

There's also an article on android police
Seems like a good idea for the service but when not using WiFi you are really hampered...I think somewhere they basically consul you on getting back on track using wireless if your 3g or whatever gets too high. I like the concept but would make sure you check all the details before taking the plunge.

I was thinking maybe there would be a way to unlock my inc2 to work on their network

I might be wrong, but it looks as if, to get service, you have to buy the phone.

Also since it is based off of Sprints network you will be really sacrificing signal for cost unless you are always in WiFi. Look into page plus if you are needing to cut cost. They run off Verizon towers and can use any Verizon phone if unlocked.

Signed up for the next round of invites, going to try one as a second line.
I would actually be interested in this, if I didn't already have an Inc2 and service through my parent's family plan. Maybe in a few years when they cut me loose, I will check it out, assuming it's still around. Would probably even be more refined.
I am going to get one of these to make using the forums easier from my phone. Anyone have any suggestions on one versus the other? I know a lot of you use XDA Premium, but I'm just looking for a comparison of these two. Am I missing anything major by going with, say Forum Runner? (just picked the cheaper one)
Just go with tapatalk. I've loved it since I paid for it. Bought it for my iPhone when I had that too
dropped from LiquidNexus via TapaTalk
Love tapatalk, supports whole range of forums, very easy to use and light weight..to be honest haven't seen many use forum runner
Only thing I noticed is tapatalk can only upload pic files, but dev says will consider for future releases

I just switched from XDA premium to tapatalk. I have been pretty happy so far.

I'm just using the XDA app (which is similar to tapatalk?). Seems to work well enough. Don't use it a whole bunch though.

Seems Forum Runner is also recommended. Don't use it my self. But a few mods are using it and they prefer it above xda premium and Tapatalk.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm trying the free version of Forum Runner before making a decision and I gotta say that it is pretty nice. Granted I'm just comparing it to the standard forum app, but it is very nice. So far it has all the forums I have interest in, so that is a wash. I'll give it a few days, make a choice then. Stinks that there isn't a free version of Tap...it'd be better than the 15 minute return window.
I have been asked by people as to WHY would you want to root your phone? Or the big question...what is rooting?
So this is what I tell them when one of these questions is asked.
Lets say you bought a brand new Mustang Gt. You paid for it and it belongs to you. But you notice that Ford has only certain options available to you and all the others are locked down. But this is YOUR car. But the PCM is locked down and your stuck with the options Ford wants you to have.
But...help is here. You find out that your PCM can be unlocked (rooted) so you can have access to your cars full potential.
Your brand new phone is just like the Mustang until you unlock its full potential.
So I ask you...root or not to root?
Sent from my Wicked T999
Definitely root for me, but its not for everyone
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
That is true. But once they see what rooting their phone does for them they would be very happy.
I rooted mine the day I bought it and have no intention of going stock.
Sent from my Wicked T999
For me it's not a huge deal since I don't play games on my phone so I don't really need the extra speed. I just like my phone feeling snappier when using the basic apps like texting. I'm also very minimalistic so it's nice to be able to get rid of the bloat

Well reason I root is very but the main reason is for the tethering hack.

Anyone working on Ubuntu Touch for the HTC One? Gonzalezb was for a bit but ended up abandoning it. Was just curious if anyone else had it in the works. Would be awesome to see on our device.

It isn't very functional for the most part. Basically it is just a demo. At least the last time I tried it was mostly a demo. The only major feature that worked was WiFi then.
