Wanted modification of stock players to work at 10% charge or less. Earlier, there were similar modifications to the Vibrant, but they were for Froyo. Searched for Gingerbread.

Hello!
After searching and reading through threads, I came to nothing. I try to find out, if it is possible to record 720p (or even 800x480) video with high quailty audio - I mean in better way than the standard 8khz, AMR, Mono codec.
From the threads here (and other forums) I learned different things. Some people said, it is impossible, some say, it is possible and some say they already have it.
Also tried lgCamera app from the Market (version 4.4) and tried EVERY possible combination of resolution, encoder, bitrate, audio codec, etc. - none of them worked and got Record video failed error.
Any help on this? Recommended settings?
BTW, I am using a rooted Desire (AMOLED) with LeeDroid 2.3C
Thanks in advance,
David
Maybe someone can answer a couple questions I have. I finally grew a set and rooted and flashed CM7 to my phone. I noticed that videos I have on my phone are choppy when playing back now. Any idea why?
Also, maybe I just don't see it, but is there a way to turn off the shutter sound in the camera?
Anyone also have any suggestions for a first time rooter/flasher?
The choppiness may be because CM7 is not 720p and the quality isn't as good, that is my guess at least. This is because CM7 is AOSP not Sense.
As for the shutter the only way I can find a way to rid it is by turning my volume down, if there is a solution I would like to know as well.
And some tips for first time rooter/flashers is make sure to back up everything! Make a nandroid backup before flashing anything. That way if any problems occur you can just revert back. Also check out different types of ROMs to fund one of your liking. Try AOSPs (CM7, UD) Sense 2.0 (WarmZ 2.2, IncROM, Re-Engineered, SkyRaider) and just anything you find intriguing. Free Wireless Tethering is a huge plus for being rooted too. Just have fun and keep nandroids!
People have made flashables that remove the shutter sound entirely, not sure where they are as I've never used them.
The video playback shouldn't be choppy, lower quality shouldn't mean lower fps- not to mention that they are still very nice quality vids.
Check to make sure if it's only choppy when playing back on your phone or if it's still choppy after you've uploaded it to your computer and play it there.
If it's only choppy on your phone it's possible you may have tried to watch it while your phone was doing background processes that ate up cpu - or - you considerably underclocked your phone.
Playback for my vids are smooth on the highest setting, and I underclocked my phone (CM7)

Stagefright isn't able to handle 720p on our phones yet. Came from CM himself.
You can get replacement camera sounds here. There is one that is silent. I did this by extracting the camera_click.ogg file and used Root Explorer to overwrite the file in system/media/audio/ui. Once I did that the camera no longer makes a sound when taking a picture.
Hope this helps.
Hi Guys,
I was wondering if anybody here has used any of the custom roms that offer 44khz sound in the video recording app.
I'm currently using the stock froyo 2.2 and am getting good battery life after disabling network data and sync. So the rom will need to be as good or better.
I was using Insertcoin 2.0.0 A2SD+ for a while, before switched to data++ (same Rom, with some internal memory tweaks).
Fast, battery life was better than stock (thanks to the modified kernel) - 44 khz sound works except in 720p (Gingerbread based Roms will have 44khz in 720p).
Sounds good, so what datarate does insertcoin offer in 720p, is it that ****ty 8khz crap?
Also, what is data++ like compared to insertcoin, what audio sample rates are offered on data++?
Yes, in 720p it is that 8khz recording sound.
Data++ compared to A2SD+ shortly:

So, phone feels smoother than with A2SD+. But also it requires your phone to be S-OFF and having a custom NAND partiton table.
P.S.: There are already good Gingerbread ROMs in the developement thread with 720p and 44 khz (as I heard). But I'll wait a few weeks, till they will be perfected
audio is horrible on froyo because it uses amr. I know aac is not available on froyo(although i've seen it can be installed on xperia x10 but no such thing on desire). So can you record with uncompressed/lossless audio instead?? think would also improve performance as there won't be a need for compression
So i've searched the forum and found very little answers about this.
I've installed CM7 and MIUI (current) ROMS, both times they work fine but i get lousy video playback and compatibility compared with the 2.2 Froyo stock ROM
Getting "this video could not be played" on about 5 different video players.
I've wiped cache, killed apps to free up memory, but video all videos (esp 720p) is choppy and laggy as hell.
Anyone got anything to say about this?
