Hi all,
I'm currently using Cyanogenmod 7 RC0 on my Defy, the rom is excellent but I have an issue with the overclock settings, I set max cpu to 1000Mhz but it doesn't save and just defaults back to a max of 800!
Never mind Quadrant tells me that it is at 1000mhz, although maxcpu frequency says 800 hehe

As the title says, just looking for a good kernel to use with cm7 rc1. A link would be great as well, cause when it comes to searching for roms I'm not bad, but I suck at finding kernels

Incredikernel, I use it and it's great on battery..... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848453
thanks! just flashed it and seems to be running great!
Having smartass just really makes life alot easier than having to use setcpu and all that stuff =D
so thanks again!
have you been running into trouble with setcpu in CM7. the built in overclocker works but when i try setcpu and go to the profiles tab it continually force closes. i want to be able to overclock when i plug in and underclock when battery gets low.

With Incredikernel, I have it on "smartass" governor, MIN cpu frequency at 128 MHz and MAX cpu at 1075 MHz and my battery is doing great. I've never had any luck with SetCPU on CM so I just go with the onboard CPU settings instead.
cm7 said its default cpu speed is set at 1000mhz.. but when i use quadrant standrad/ quick system info to check my cpu range, it shows that my cpu is at 800MHz.. I have checked my settings both in the cyanogen settings and the boot menu.. i am choose 1000MHz .. but the cpu is still stick at 800MHz.. How can i turn it to 1000MHz, may i use setvsel ??
anyone help??
during bootup, press volume down key when you see the LED in "Blue". You can find a Overclock menu, adjust accordingly.
I notice Milestone OC, n SetVSel doesn't save settings on CM7-Defy
i have try that.. but the setting in bootmenu did not really apply ...
no matter i press set default or save..
Hi,
I'm using cm7-110615-1323-BOOT177-Jordan.zip and everything works as it should.
I'm using the widget called "Temp+CPU V2" from the Market and it showes clocks between 300 and 1000 MHz. CPU-load, Temp and used RAM also works fine.
Make sure you don't have your middle frequency set to 800. For some reason that was causing me similar problems, but all has been good since I changed the middle freq to 790...

It doesnt work..my cpu and battery vsel setting still at the stock value.. which is 33/300,48/600,58,800
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
When I look at system settings it shows the following
Current (300-1000)
Min (300)
Max (800)
Min is 300, Max is 800. However current has been 300 - 1000. So this measures the current setting and it can be higher than the 'max'.
Try another tool to measure your cpu freq, setvesl has a decent one.

Hi guys
I run Cyanogenmod 7.1 RC0 at stock frequency (1ghz), but would like to go higher (~1.2 ghz). What are your settings, and do you have any recommendations to other settings than core frequency?
thansk in advance
Mine is 300 MHz at 20 Vsel, 600 MHz at 32 Vsel, 1200 MHz at 60 Vsel, but when I play games it seems to be unstable, so when I need more power productivity I put it to 80 Vsel.

1ghz is not stock . 800 is
Well.. 1 Ghz IS stock for cyanogen 7.1 rc0... Anyways, I cranked it up to 1.2 with vsel 62. does anyone have better settings?
can i ask 1 help how to overclock wfs rom is cm7........i go to cpu settings there
1)available governors
2)min cpu frequency
3)max cpu frequency
4)set on boot
------------------------------------------------------
in available governors
1)lagfree
2)lulzactive
3)lazy
4)braziliznwax
5)smartassv2
6)smartass
7)minmax
8)scary
9)smoothass
10)savagedzen
11)interactivex
12)conservati
13)ondemand
14)userspace
15)powersave
16)lionheart
17)performance
in this which 1 i have o chosse for fast my gameplay
and if make my max cpu to 806 it lags and contiusoly restarts....if i keep it to 787 its bit lagging .....min cpu frequency i hv kept is 200....which is the best frequency ??????
As governor smartass2 is often prefered.
Some phones do not work with maximum voltage and 804 MHz. You will have to reduce it till your phone is stable.
overclocking MAY damage your device. so be careful.
sorry for this old thread but, i have updated the last cm7 and now i can see more cpu states on setcpu such as 825,844 and 864..i overclocked for using these clocks but cpuspy says that these states are "unused"? Interestingly, setcpu says current state is 864 but not cpuspy? is that a bug?
Nice one, unearthing a thread from february ^^
Even if you select a high frequency, your phone might not be able to handle it.

"You can overclock as much as you want, your phone will always seem too slow."
Well, I am rooted and on cyanogenmod 10.1..
If I understand corrrctly, you can underclock the device with just an app?
If so, what app can I use (considering its DHD rooted with CyanogenMod 10.1)?

Ace OC tool!

Also try antutu cpu master.

I think the reason I like the Andrev OC Daemon is because you can automate it to use a lower CPU setting when in deep sleep.
For example, when the screen is on, you can set the max CPU to 1.2 MHz, and set it to reduce this to 256 KHz when you lock your phone.
So easy to use, and the battery lasts an incredible duration longer. I've had 0% decrease in battery for the past 2 hours with the phone on, but on standby.
Highly recommended.

Sorry if i misunderstood, but there are performance settings in Settings menu of CM 10.1.So i have set max CPU frequency to 806 MHz and min to 149 MHz and marked "set on boot". Isn't it underclocking ? Off course you can't undervolt the CPU, but he asks just to underclock.

Yes, that would be underclocking, which has shown results in battery improvements. Essentially, you are trading speed for battery life and its all about getting the balance right.
Obviously, when the screen is turned off, and the phone is inactive, you do not need the CPU to hit heights of 806 MHz, which is where Andrev OC Daemon comes in..
You can set it so that the phone uses up to 806 MHz when active, yet not exceed 149 MHz when the screen is inactive.
I have seen VAST improvements in my battery life using this OC/UC tool.
And I really can't over-exaggerate the 'vast' in that sentence..
