A RUU is a Windows program that you execute on a PC and then connect your phone with the USB cable to perform the ROM update.

Thanks to specify it, when i run the program , nothing happen . my phone is connect using HTC sync

Your phone needs to be in 'Charge Only' mode, not HTC Sync. Also start the RUU on the PC and then connect the phone to the USB cable when the program tells you to.

ok i will try again . thanks

For the inc 1 there's a stock image RUU that you can flash in hboot. Not sure about the inc 2, I thought I saw a link to them somewhere. A lot simpler to just do it through hboot than having to run it on a computer.

Thanks ,i am checking a full RUU to run using hboot . But the first solution still not working in my computer , i dont know why .

[Q] 2.3 Problem, please help!

So, my Desire HD popped up with the new Android 2.3 Gingerbread update last night, and i downloaded it. After downloaded, i plugged it into my charger, and startet the softwareupdate. But instead of updating, the phone rebooted with this screen.
Edit: I'm unable to post the picture since i have less than 8 posts, but you can see the picture by googling Android exclamation.
How do i get out of it? Does anyone know?
- Thanks!
Doesn't anyone know a solution for this?
Did you delete any system apps?
I had this problem because I rooted and had S-OFF on 1.32.
That verification error is coming up on boot up because you have S-OFF like I did.
The solution is to flash your phone with the 2.3 Gingerbread RUU which is the same as the OTA.
You can then use Gingerbreak .apk to get rooted in Gingerbread I did this and it worked day before yesterday when I had this exact same issue.

Could you maybe explain it a little more detailed?
Where do i download the Gungerbread RUU, and how do i install it when i'm unable to boot?
1. press power and vol- and go to bootloader download the ruu 1.32 from here and run exe on your computer http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824357
2. make a temp root with visionary
3. Download radio s-off tool from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537 and make a stock cid which is HTC_001 and leave your phone s-off in case tou wouldn't like 2.3.3
4. Restart phone and check for update
I'm not at home at the moment but there are threads here with the download links to the official 2.3 RUU. You want the .exe 2.3 RUU make sure you have usb debugging enabled and attach your DHD to pc and run the 2.3 RUU .exe program to update its easy to follow the program, once done use Gingerbreak .apk to root as I did.

I'm unable to enter bootloader by holding down the power button and the volume down button, but my phone is already rooted. Is it still possible?
Downloading WWE 1.32.405 Atm.
And my phone already has S-OFF, or has it been removed because of this problem?

I tried following your instructions, but it said that there was a error with the connection between the phone and the computer.
USB Debugging was enabled when i started the gingerbread update, shouldn't it still be on? If not, how do i enable it when i'm unable to boot my phone?

An alternative is you can flash a prerooted gingerbread stock through clockworkmod recovery. Though you would have to flash the radios seperatly if you wanted those as well

I was the last time i was able to use my device.
The computer doesn't seem to know that the device is connected.
I send an email to HTC, waiting for response.
You need to make sure you have connectivity between pc and DHD. Put your DHD in disc drive mode does your pc open the SD card ?
Also have HTC Sync installed on pc. I had an issue like this on win 7 64bit ultimate, downloaded and installed android sdk, then from android sdk downloaded 'platform-tools' this has the same adb inside.
If your HTC Sync is syncing you have connectivity. Just have your DHD in usb debugging and charge only when running the RUU .exe

How do i put the phone in disc drive mode when i'm stuck on the android warning screen?
Take the battery out and switch on, it should boot up to normal stock 1.32 or whatever you were on before trying to update via OTA. Then check connectivity between pc and DHD. Have usb debugging enabled and try syncing with HTC sync. Then you can see from that if you have any connection problems. If all ok proceed with running 2.3 RUU .exe on pc while DHD is connected in charge only mode.

[Q] Help Please - Bricked One X

Another thread like this... I know. Sorry.
In an attempt to load the modified battery management file, I've managed to brick my One X. It just sits at the 'HTC quietly brilliant' screen and that's as far as it gets.
I can boot into bootloader and then use fastboot, which in turn has allowed me to load the Clockwork Touch Recovery. I can reboot and load this recovery fine. But whatever I try, I cannot get it to boot back into the normal OS.
I cannot mount the phone on my laptop as that's not an option (that I'm aware of) in the One X recovery mode. Therefore I cannot copy across a new ROM to the SDCard and reload via 'Update.zip'.
Battery is healthy, everything was working prior to this failed attempt at being clever.
What other options are there to re-load a ROM and get the device working again?
Thanks in advance for your help
Rob

Thank you, very much. A question, where it says:
'After that download RUU specific to your handset and run. This should install fine and return you to stock.'
I've downloaded what I think is right and I have a .zip file, how can I get this onto the device to install it?
It is mentioned in the instructions. You will need to use adb.
Edit: I presume that you have fast boot and adb installed on your PC. If not you will need to do that for your device to be recognized

That's the trouble, I can't. Because there is no USB access in recovery, ADB doesn't work.
Unless I'm missing something obvious?

No adb.
Boot into fastboot on mobile and run the RUU from pc.
You need to have your bootloader locked before the RUU can run.
fastboot oem lock
Also did you try a factory reset in recovery and then tried to reboot into system

Thanks guys, sorry for the slow reply...
I do indeed have ADP/Fastboot on my computer still.
Where can I download the stock RUU? I can find a .zip version from this very forum, but how do I install that if I can't transfer it? I had assumed there would be a .exe version to run from my computer. Is there?
skywalker1970 - I did indeed try that, thanks.
Thanks again

How to Obtain 2.3 RUU From HTC Developers Site

Well, I wrote this a couple of times and it gets more boring every time. Also, the link in Bortak's guide is not working so if someone needs it here you go:
-go to HTC developers site
http://htcdev.com/
-go to KERNEL SOURCE CODE section
-configure filter by DEVICE (choose Desire)
-mark OTHER below
-click on FIND FILES
-and there you go, the first file is 2.3 upgrade utility.
Not that hard?
Hi, can this be pushed directly to the phone ? and how ?
sure I'll lose root permission and S-OFF Right? . sorry for the stupid questions I'm a noob -- first baby steps

You need to extract the exe from the file. The exe is buried two levels deep in a zip.Thereafter run the exe from PC with the phone connected. But before you run the RUU ensure your phone is stock hboot. If it is a alpharev hboot then flash the downgrader hboot from alpharev.nl. Thereafter the "unlock" will appear on bootloader. Then you can run the RUU. You will lose root and soff after RUU.
If you want to again root after this then you have to follow the steps given in revolutionary.io.

I have just found my old HTC Desire (GSM) again.
Now I would like to install an Android 4.4 or 5.0 Rom on it, but for this I have to S-OFF it and install a custom recovery on it.
Is it still possible? As the most tools are down? And if yes, could someone give me the needed links etc? Thanks.
I am on Android 2.3
Have searched for hours. :/

Unroot using OneXRoot.com, now stuck at bootloader

Hi guys, seriously need some help.
Was on LeeDroid ROM and Bricked kernel.
Restored my phone to stock ROM using CWM recovery.
Followed the unroot method on OneXRoot.com
All the way till step 13 (factory reset using stock recovery).
Now I can't get out of the bootloader. Seen people mention RUUs. How do I flash them?
Please and thank you,
Laz.
When you are in the bootloader menu. Select fastboot. Have HTC Sync installed but closed. Download the required RUU for your device if you need help with this just ask . Plug your phone in when it is in fastboot and run the RUU.

The size or speed aren't the issues. As far as I understand, your sdcard has a corrupted boot partition, which can occur when it's improperly unmounted. This prevents it from being a goldcard. A goldcard lets you flash RUUs with a different CID from yours. In this case, it would let you flash the downgrade.

No....corruption of the boot partition is due to bad habits such as pulling sdcard without proper dismounting it. You can not fix that.

NEW sdcards?? A different one is not good enough. Bad habits are hard to eradicate. Get a new one and make sure that you dismount it correctly.
I didn't really get the problem anyway u can try 2 things before u get the new sd
1: get the downloaded ROM from ur aahk folder and past it on the root of ur sdcard then get into the hboot and the phone should search and find the ROM and prompts u whether if u want to flash ths ROM or not
2: u can download the needed RUU using ur pc and the let the RUU finish everything
I hope that i provided useful and simple info....

How on earth is he going to flash a RUU on a corrupted sdcard? If you have a bad sdcard and therefore you can't make a goldcard then is useless to try to flash a ruu from fastboot. It will let you stuck on a downgraded rom with no root or S-OFF.
