What would kernel have to do with un-installing system apps?
I'm using nFinity that came with my CM7 mod.
i was curious , i'm not pleased with my wifi signal strength...and i want to try different kernels

Hey all,
I think I'm finally ready to make the move.
Where can I go to make sure I get the correct version of CM7 (i think final version - 7.0.2.1?)
I have had issues in past with getting a bad version.
Also... what is GAPPS?
THANKS!!

you can read up here http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/forum/88-htc-incredible-stable-mod/
I would Highly recommend using ROM Manager to install CM7.0.2.1
I have had better luck getting everything to work on the first shot using ROM Manager
CM7 here.
GAPPS are Google apps like Gmail, Market, but I believe you don't need them as they should be there, at least they were when I installed CM7.

Google Apps contain the proprietary Google applications that come pre-installed with most android devices. Due to licensing restrictions, these apps cannot come pre-installed with CyanogenMod and must be installed separately.

I would like to downgrade my Play from ics++ to try JokaWild rom. Can anyone explain me the steps that i should follow?
Thanks!!!!!
i dont think a flash would work, best to backup your apps and data using a backup app, ie titanium backup, my backup etc. then flash jokawild then restore apps
I've flashed Jokawild but i had a bootloop.. Maybe i have to use a different kernel or firmware? I'm using Doomkernel v02

Thank you very much guys
I have received today my HTC ONE V (PRIMO U)
Instead of trying several ROM's, could anybody please recommend me a good ROM being updated/supported frequently?
Thanks

Thanks, I will try your CM10 ROM, although I have rooted and installed several ROMS in a samsung spica, and a sony Xperia ArcS, I have not very clear how to install your ROM.
Wipe Data, Cache, and system "OK"
Flash the ROM "It's the TEST13 file? is this done in the recovery, right?"
Flash GApps "is this done in the recovery, right?"
Download the boot.img "OK xD"
Flash boot.img in fastboot "I guess this one is not done in the recovery, could you please be a little bit more specific? what is included in the boot.img? it's mandatory?"
If I install this kernel it adds any apps/option in the ROM so I can change the OC to 1.2 or keep the default 1?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1765687
Or in order to change I need to install a 3rd party app in google play?
Thanks in advance

boot.img is the kernel, mandatory.
In case you need commands
Settings>Performance has options for freq. control. But I think some app like "no frills" is recommended.

I use Titanium to freeze things first before uninstalling and make backups before removing. I found the best way to debloat was to start from scratch; backup apps+data, flash a minimal ROM, minimal gapps, and just install stuff as and when I actually needed to - I have very little running or available that doesn't get used and tons of memory free to use when needed. No Samsung apps to be seen at all.

Stock ROM have GApps included, so you can't flash custom GApps only if you want to root and flash custom ROM.

I prefer SlimKAT to others at the moment and I have no issues with it at all. (I have a Slim version 7.4 that is not available generally at the moment - just testing it. The latest 7.2.1 has no reported issues). That is not to say you will like it or that everything will work ok for you, but its fun trying out these things. Most people use other gapps such as PA or BaNkS I think but the Slim gapps I use currently are from the SlimROM web site here.
Just to clarify, SlimKAT has no gapps included at all. It has a basic Nova launcher but very little else in the way of applications.
thanks mate, iam running slimkat for a few days and seems to be very battery friendly.
I have a serious problem with my Redmi Note 8. I want to know if any of you has faced the same problem before and how you fixed it.
The problem is when I'm using an app (browser, Gallery, ... Any app) and switch to another then go back to the app that I was using at first, the app reloads as I'm opening it again.
This happens even if I switch back to the app instantly. It's really annoying and making the phone basically useless.
I'd appreciate any help!
I'm using MIUI 12.5.2.0. No root.

Some miui users reported differant bugs with the launcher/recent provider

it's the time when Miui push buggy updates and tell you to switch device
so i suggest using a custom rom and save your phone from pain
@loopypalm Is there any solution other than installing a custom rom ?

There are many reasons that can cause this problem
-launcher:
Go to setting all apps and uninstall the launcher update + clear it's data and reconfig it
-LMKD value in build.prop
check if you have
ro.lmk.low_ram=true
set it to false
-Kernel
nothing you can do here and it's most probably the cause
that's why i suggested a custom rom because you are gonna face other problems even if you fixed this one
I flashed an old firmware and it works well.

Thank you. It took me years to find this solution that you've now revealed. It's made such a big difference on this note 8 now. Wow. And I only did the launcher killing. I use KISS launcher actually, but killed the miui launcher which seemed to be running. And force closed and wiped data. And uninstalled updates of the Updater even. So something worked.
Any other tips you are holding from us mere mortals?
Which Rom do you recommend etc?

it's always running, it's the "recent provider"
if you freez or delete it you will not be able to use recent or even the home gestures ...

there is a discussion about what rom is best
My top 4 didn't change since then
do a clean flash using RRos + 16 kernel .
My joy didn't last long with just killing and clearing the launcher...

check if you have that value in build.prop (located in root/system)
and set it to false
if you don't have root use the recovery
if you don't have a recovery file manager use ADB
but i'm pretty sure they mess with the kernel in the update
so using a custom rom is the best thing you can do, even better than the most stable sh*tui out there ...

if you want to use A11 use the correct kernel from their TG or just the default one from the rom
