[Q] Want to make the move to CM7 from sense... - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
I think I'm finally ready to make the move.
Where can I go to make sure I get the correct version of CM7 (i think final version - 7.0.2.1?)
I have had issues in past with getting a bad version.
Also... what is GAPPS?
THANKS!!

you can read up here http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/forum/88-htc-incredible-stable-mod/
I would Highly recommend using ROM Manager to install CM7.0.2.1
I have had better luck getting everything to work on the first shot using ROM Manager

CM7 here.
GAPPS are Google apps like Gmail, Market, but I believe you don't need them as they should be there, at least they were when I installed CM7.

nah, you need to install them
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Latest_Version/Google_Apps
Google Apps contain the proprietary Google applications that come pre-installed with most android devices. Due to licensing restrictions, these apps cannot come pre-installed with CyanogenMod and must be installed separately.

Does anyone know where you can get the app market for the CM7 release 18? Is wasn't expecting Gingerbread to come without it.

You have to download the gapps and flash that too. They have to post them separately.

Just like CyanogenMod 4, 5, and 6, the Google apps come separate from the ROM (see here for why). You can download the apps here:
http://goo-inside.me/gapps/#versions
If that's too confusing, you can use this easy selector.
Thanks, I saw something about gapps, but I didn't see the link. This is much appreciated!

Just Google "JoyOS".
Btw thanks for this another port, but are there many FCs with the Play Store? If I can't install my apps, it's useless for now.
Please fix everything in the rom that don't work. I really want to install the rom but I need that everything will work.
Gotta love disclaimers. Thank you for your efforts. Will skip it though, too iphonish to my liking.

Play Store FCs every time you try to open an app's page. For now uninstall the Play Store and use the unupdated Market, or try and see if it's a problem with my phone.

First CyanogenMod rule also applies here: no ETAs.
I am doing my best to make this port be perfect, as of now, everything, except a little option in the power menu and the Play Store(but it can be worked around). Try it, you can always flash something else if you want

Thanks tho
Despite your work, the autorotate problem in Messaging app is still here. That's basically the only app in which I use it. Thanks anyways

Use Handcent. Autorotate works there. Will include it in Alpha6.
You know when you will release a update with all the fixes?
Im on ICS rom now, and I need to install stock rom and then install this rom and if will be problems with the rom I will need again to move to ICS rom and all this process is annoying.
Also, Im very appreciate your effort

dude, stop asking for ETA's and typing in bold; there's no need to shout. Developers are doing this in their free time.

Sir, you sure can't read. And no need to explain the whole process to switch ROMs. If you're not satisfied with all this, I recommend you to make your own ROMs.
You're the third noob porting JoyOS after this noob guide http://www.blindndumb.com/2012/05/guide-how-to-port-joyos-to-your-device.html to our device. I'm sure you don't even no what you're doing. And everybody thinks you can build a ROM :banghead:.

*cough cough* I clearly stated in the 1st post that I'm not a dev. I know what I'm doing: I'm taking i9000's CM7 and switching the framework, the apps, SystemUI, libs and so on with those from JoyOS.
Anyway I ported the ROM based on that guide, it's true. So what? I made this for personal use, then decided to release on XDA. The other 2 ports have more bugs than this. On one of them you can't even end a call!
Also, I am working to fix the bugs on this port with my still limited experience. If you don't like what I do, then /ignore me and GTFO.

Google dialer

I am trying to side load google dialer
I have successfully side loaded the google dialer ver 2.5.11 rc8-20511 yet it will not dial the phone.
I have tried to install newer versions but I can't get them to side load.
Which version works if any?
Thanks
Did you install Google Contacts? Also, sideloading has issues. Nor the speaker or ringtone works.
Here ya go
It works for me.

At the very lease you'll need a custom recovery to flash the zip. Make sure you have a system backup before you flash it since this zip deletes the htc dialer without making a backup.
I don't see why it wouldn't work, but have a backup is always a save bet to take.

OMJ has a mod for his bad boys rom in the sprint htc 10 section. The mod works great, maybe it will work on any sense rom. You can give that a try.
Nope, just Maximus rom with root. No Xposed on it or any other mods installed

Anyone got xposed running?

Installed the latest sdk26 and installer v 3.1.4. Installer says that framework is installed but not active. Xposed apps dont start/work.
This is mine...

I see you have an AOSP based rom tho. Xposed always had little trouble working on those. I wonder if anyone with stock or stock-ish ROM got it working. I tried, but as of right now, just like xposed dev said, it bootloops. I guess I will wait for something stable.

Really? Well, I guess that xposed installer just shows a general status then. Well anyway, I found a rom that has xposed preinstalled for S9+ so I went with that. A lot of things crashing tho, can't even search for anything in play store :/ Guess I will wait for a stable version.

Bitgapps since they are very battery efficient and have no setup wizard so first boot would be lightning fast.
Do you have a download link for Bitgapps?
I also used FlameGApps full and worked fine.
ok thank you

The rom is very good and runs smooth.
Only issue is getting the At A Glance to show the weather.
There doesn't seem to be an option to enable it or get rid of it completely so I can use the google widget.
Just a general question. Does this rom support nightly builds?
Please Share the Screenshots of the ROM, it would be appreciated.
Thank You

Hello, that happens to be a pixel launcher issue. Google has made it impossible to remove it. Only solution is to change launchers.

Source changes are only pushed out after they have been thoroughly tested for a few weeks so there's no need for nightly builds.
Option for switching NavBar order is greyed out? How come? I would really like to use that feature
I'm sorry if it's a stupid question. But I'm on another custom rom right now. When I tried to install Fluid, it said firmware 10.0.1 required or something like that. So should I go back to oxygen OS and then install Fluid?

no, you just need to flash firmware 10.0.1 only. try to search "shadowstep essential" on telegram, you'll got what you need.
