[Q] ICS++ ---> JokaWild - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I would like to downgrade my Play from ics++ to try JokaWild rom. Can anyone explain me the steps that i should follow?
Thanks!!!!!

i dont think a flash would work, best to backup your apps and data using a backup app, ie titanium backup, my backup etc. then flash jokawild then restore apps

I've flashed Jokawild but i had a bootloop.. Maybe i have to use a different kernel or firmware? I'm using Doomkernel v02

You have to use a kernel that's made for gingerbread

Thanks XperienceD but, try to find rom´s 2.3.7, and in the link that you post only there roms 2.3.4 and 4.0.4, i´ll like use gb 2.3.7 cause 4.0.4 y a lot slower and the consumption of RAM is so high
2.3.4 is the last SE official GB ROM. Most of the Roms are based on that. Only CM 7.2 is GB 2.3.7, but battery drains fast.

I recommend the one in my signature, which is ICS custom ROM. But GB Arconium 8.2 is very good, especially for gaming.
If you want to stay on official, definitely GB.

[Q] Stock Kernel With CM7

Hey,
Would it be possible to flash CM7 with the stock kernel on Xperia Arc S?
I want to try a new ROM but I'm not sure if you need another kernel than the stock. And I couldn't find any existing thread with this problem
(I have rooted it and an unlocked the bootloader)
I hope you can help me out
Bram
You need to flash the kernel of CM7 or any custom kernel that's compatible with CM7.
As FXP already stated in his thread:
FXP said:
HOWTO
to flash cm7 rom you have to take 3 steps (after unpacking the 7z archive)
step 2 - flash new kernel (always use the kernel provided in CM7 / it is incompatible with stock ROM)

Yup, AOSP-based ROMs don't work with the stock kernel.
Okay thanks. And when I want to get back to my origional ROM (stock), I don't have to flash another kernel. Or do I have to change the kernel everytime I change the ROM? And what makes Doomkernel so special actually?
Bram

Some ROMs need specific kernels to work properly. Of course this doesn't necessarily mean that each time you change your rom, you will have to change your kernel as well. Most of the times, in the thread of each ROM you will find info on what kernel is needed each time.
I'm using DoomKernel because I'm very satisfied with its speed and its CWM recovery which is veeery helpful if you wanna try things on your phone!
I already use CWM. Isn't there a kernel that works with any ROM

You can just use the FlashTools to flash a stock firmware (FTF file).

As in downoload a stock ics rom, plug the phone in flashboot mode and flash it?
Yup. After flashing, you would lose root. To get it back, just flash the superuser binary using recovery from a custom kernel.

I think you have to select "Set on boot". If it doesn't work you can try downloading no-frills CPU control or setcpu and set it there (that's what I did).

clock work recovery restore to ics?

I am on 2.3.3 rooted with doom kernal v14 i have jb theme I was wondering if you could install ics or jb from a backup and restore copy I know the cola rom you can do this? I have a r800x verizon and any time I flashed any ics or jb rom i have no phone service..
thanks..
No! You need the right kernel for the backups. DoomLords v14 is a GB kernel and Cola rom is Gb stock rom so you don't need to change kernel's for that
