[Q] if i cant root should i boot

hi everyone thank you for taking the time to read my post. my htc magic is give me a few problems. it's been a great phone for about a year I got it before it was discontinued. the phone is being replaced under warranty exchange. I had a few smarphones to pick from wildfire. s seemed to be the best. one. looking at the forms the Gsm / T-Mobile model can't be rooted. looks like I should just sent it back and get a different phone. is this the right thing to do should I hold out until soft were method for rooting can be obtained. at most I have a few days to decide. I love to see any feedback on his issue
First of all, WS is not bad phone at all.
For average user,it's more than ok. The biggest problem is it can not be rooted without xtc clip.
If you are not advanced user, keep it. If you can afford some other phone, replace WS.

Right, only you can softroot with a software (zergrush and an modified adb sequence). But if u don't know what u do, then read all and read and read.
Thanks for all the feed back. There are a few things I like about this phone. BY default wireless tether is turned on. It has android 2.3
As far as what I can afford, this phone is a warranty exchange so I was limited with my choices.
at some point i would like to put a custom rom on this phone. The boot Loader is locked so that's out of the question. Looks like most every one here has the same problem so I guess I joined the club. I will just cross my fingers and hope that HTC dose what it promised and unlocks the boot loader.
Worst case I will have this phone for about 8 months be stuck at android 2.3 upgrade and think very hard about buying any thing from a company that locks the boot loader. Thanks for taking the time to ready my post
First , welcome to the club.
Second, don't count on HTC to unlock bootloader for this phone. If they ever do that, it will be too late, this phone will be forgotten by devs.

[q] [urgent help] hox restarting motherboard problem

Guys,
I am just a person like you keep watching the post, but my situtation turned out to be the worst.
I brought my HOX 6 months ago, I unlocked before 2 months and installed CFW CM10 and others. I was playing acutally with different CFW. When I got really board and wanted to go to orginal Firmware (sense) I wanted to reinstall. I did that by formatting relocking. And then one day I installed what's up and then the problem started. They phone started to restart 1 or 2 a day and it started to become more often. That time there was no JB. So I thought I will have JB and I tried many FW and nothing worked. Everything keeps restarting.
But I remember just after What's up its all happened. Now recently 20 Days before JB OFW came I updated the same by going back to the nandroid 2.17 and installed JB. But still the issue was going on. It never stopped it started to restart every 30 min - 45 min.
Now a week before I gave the phone to Customer Care (service center) today I called them to ask for an update and they r saying " please get your phone back, we cannot do anything, the unoffical sofware has damaged your mother board we need 16 K Rs for replacing the same"
Now what should I say when I go to collect the phone ?
Is there a way that we can fix this ? As I can see how can a software could damage a phone ?
NOTE: While charging the phone ever restarts !!!
This isn't going to help but I thinkthey are using that as a cop out. I'm no expert but the only way I can see that happening its out the Ron caused overhearing to the extrey. I hope I don't have go get mine repairedfor whatever reason.
Good luck mate

Dead HTC 10 ?!

Hello Guys, im new to 10 forum but in the past 12 years i used only HTC devices so im planing to leave my m8 and jump to 10
My question is this: I have a offer for a HTC 10 in brilliant cosmetic condition no sratches no even single sratch on the panel perfect as brand new condition never been droped or watered but the phone cannot switch ON.
The owner of the device have it from around 3 months and tell me that he was trying to SIM UNLOCK it somehow even he don`t know what he was doind coz he is not very familiar with things like this and NOW the phone its seems dead.
Its a Shame because is even under waranty but was locked on a network.
Anyway he is going to sell it for about 50 USD im asking you
Do the deal worth it? and what can cause the reason for this DEAD HTC 10 after trying to Sim Unlock it.
I think to try eveyrhting posible to give this phone a second life and after a week will be able to take it and see whats goes i don`t know more info i mean do i have access to Recovery or Fastboot since the device is not here till the next week but my question is do this worth it and what can be the cause of NO switching ON anymore.
The owner sayd that before to attempt this Sim Unlock the phone was worked perfectly fine.
Thanks in advance for the advices and of course when is with me will Update the thread with more info about the device.
Thanks

Do the deal worth it? and what can cause the reason for this DEAD HTC 10 after trying to Sim Unlock it. Well that's enitrely the problem with buying phone not working. You can't troubleshoot all the internal hardware like you can a PC and test what works and what doesn't work. you would need a working HTC 10 to swap parts with to test.
That said my opinion, forget about this phone. Go buy a working phone on swappa, ebay or HTC.com they are having a $200 off sale and you would have the peace of mind, knowing that you have a working phone. swappa would be best if you wanna negotiate a good deal with a seller.
Or go to ebay - factory unlocked 10's are $400 delivered all over the place.

I know what you are saying but listen
I know this guy is a friend of mine i know the device is brand new he bought it before 3 months in this case when is bricked after atempt to Sim Unlock im sure its SOFTWARE related problem becuase like i sayd the phone is in Mint perfect cosmetic condition no a single dust or scratch.
I know that its HARD to really Brick a device forever on a software level.
So i know also how much cost a brand new or second hand HTC 10 the goal here is do 50 Bucks worth it coz if i think stright only the Rear and Front Panel and the Displey in my opition worth more.
Im asking you what can cause Broken phone after attempt to Sim Unlock.
Thanks in advance

If its software why cant your turn the phone on? If its software you need the phone to be able to boot to download mode to flash RUU. I think your friends is lying to you. If its still under warranty why doesnt he return it back to the carrier? How about he give you the phone and if you get it fixed you give him the $50. If hes your friend he would understand.

Verizon Replacement Pixel 3xl allows me to OEM unlock

So I received my replacement on Google pixel 3 XL from Verizon just the other day. I was working on it tonight and I went in there to unlock developer options and while I was in there I noticed that the OEM unlocked was not greyed out I hit the check mark in it lit up. Does this mean I can unlock the bootloader and now root my phone tell me this is not a dream... How is this even possible ? I was in the middle of updating it to Android 12 when I saw this of course I stopped the update in case that puts a stop to the OEM unlock... See attached picture.
I just realized that I haven't put my SIM card in it yet and it didn't come with one in it either. Could that have something to do with it.. If memory serves something to do with a SIM card was the workaround on the pixel 1 to get the bootloader unlocked..
Hey if I just discovered the workaround do I get the bounty for root ? What's it up to on the pixel 3 ?
I haven't had Root since my Nexus 6. I don't even know where to begin can someone point me in the right direction do we still have trwp. Is that still the way to go ? It's like I'll have to go all the way back to the beginning again I said I haven't had Roots since my Nexus 6 and Marshmello. Is Viper still around ? I'm not going to let myself get excited though I know there's going to be a catch there's always a catch right ? Someone tell me how to find out if this is real or not please I beg of you..
Chirp chirp chirp ?? I understand why no one's answering me ? Is this a subject that's been discussed or no one believes me or am I just stupid ?
It's been eight months, but did you ever unlock the device?
I hate to beat a dead horse but I'm about to try. I figure o e night this week I will give it a go and yes I can still toggle the oem unlock switch in developer options.. I can't be the only one this has happened to... I'm gonna wish myself luck here. ummmm LUCK !!!
