Setcpu on Epic

What is your take with set cpu on the epic?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
i think its not necessary right now unless you want it constantly on 1000GHz since there aren't any OC,UV Kernels on Froyo yet
Thanks! are those types of kernels something developers create or samsung and developers tweak?
Sent from my midNIGHT Epic
Samsung/sprint release the source code needed and then our developers make the kernels but samsung hasn't released froyo/source yet thats why there are no kernels available on 2.2 right now
setCPU is cool tho if you're on an eclair rom, and running an overclocked kernel.
Thank you for the insight.

Much appreciated This answered my post. I have set CPU maxed at 1Ghz its alright, However 1.2 would be optimal for the set up I have now. I'll just keep my eyes peeled For a DK28 Kernel In the future.

Depends, you on aosp or sense? Froyo or gingerbread?
If aosp I would go for tiamat.
If sense gingerbread, go for chopsuey or lithid freedom. My phone prefers chopsuey.
If sense froyo, try netarchy.

Instructions please...

Hey yall. I'm currently on an EVO 4G. I just got my wife an epic 4G. She's been complaining about it lagging and just plain being slow. I'm familiar with flashing roms. Now I'm considering rooting her epic, but I'm a little confused on how to flash roms for the epic. Can anyone provide really good instructions on the process of flashing roms for the epic? Also a decent stable fast rom suggestion for the epic? Thanks in advance

Legendary Rom is fast and stable as well. I haven't tried the others to comment or recommend.
All ROMs are good. You have to read each ROM thread to find out if it is right for you.

The best thing you can do is read as much as possible...and definitely check out qbking77...really great how to vids and explains stuff very clearly...

Have been away for awhile, what's the best rom to use right now?

CM7 doesn't look like it's finished enough to attempt. Can't seem to find any ACS builds.
Why ask this? Everyone will just tell you the ROM they are using. ALL ROMs are good. Just read through the top threads in development and pick one.

I built my own. Imo it's the best way to have a rom that has exactly what you want.

Here are the top six roms in MY opinion that are the best...
1.)StarskyROM (The one nobody talks about, but offers the BEST performance, in exchange for a couple bugs, that absolutely relate nothing to user-experience-quality. Pretty Stock, balls to the wall speed, not bad battery)
2.) LegendaryRom
3.)ACS ICS (Dont think its being updated anymore, Marcusant created MarcusantRom, listed below, which is basically the same thing as ACS ICS)
4.)SleeperRom (Amazing battery life)
5.)MarcusantRom (Incredibly Stable, Fast, Amazing Looks)
6.).....no need to list beyond this point, its all a matter of personal preference.....

Nothing changes whether you are away or not, the best ROM is the one that works best on your phone for the way you use your phone.

Now that the new Samurai 3.3.0 is running real well Marcusant's Revival V1 is worth a look if you want something that looks a little less stock.

I have not had very good luck with the latest Samurai kernels. I get horrendous lag. I believe this was even acknowledged by the developer, unless im mistaken and a new release has become available recently.
I had some issues as well, but last night 3.3.0 in 3 flavors came out.
So far I am very pleased, other seem to be as well.

Kenny is right. To paraphrase- "the phone chooses the ROM"
(I've tried them all except Random's, and they're all great. Marcusant's was probably my fave. On CleanGB now with Travis' new Minimalistic Black theme and loving it. Try new Shadow Kernel, its the bomb)

What kind of quadrant score do you get with the shadow kernel on stock settings? I'm running starskrom, flashed the shadow kernel, and now I'm getting 250 less of a score on quadrant. I've gerard some people saying they are getting 3000 or more. That not possible without overclocking right?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
That is correct. You need to OC to get that score. Quadrant is crap and can be easily spoofed. It does just some number crunching and a few video routines. The best judge of performance is how it works and feels for you. If you are hung up on whose benchmark is bigger, stick to smartbench 2010.

Kenny is right- to paraphrase, "quadrant size doesn't matter".
Or whatever. I just judge by eye- am I lagging? Sticking? Randomly rebooting? My current setup has been flawless. But I am a charter member of "Flashaholics Anonymous" and CK23 is getting ready to drop Serenity 1.1.1, so I have a feeling a Nand backup and new flash is coming at me.

I am running acs ics 5.5with the new acs theme. it is pretty flawless. but with that said, for some reason my phone prefers marcusant's rom over the rest. I have tried just about them all and might even try urban precision again now that the mms bugs are supposed to be worked out
Just some advice... You definitely want to be running marcusant revival ROM with the new samurai assassination kernel. You will not be disappointed, trust me. I am getting the best performance I have ever seen possible on the device plus 30 hour of battery life.

Looking for a good ROM.

Hey I'm looking for a good ROM for my mom. She's jealous of my stock ICS on my E4GT. Her phones rooted already, and I wanna find get a decent ROM to hold her over until the evos ics ROM is stable.
I want something refreshing for her, she's considering getting rid of evo, but I'm trying to convince her to wait until later this year to upgrade...
So what you got for me?

If she likes ics you can put decks gb rom or cm7 on there and get a T-Mobile theme Chooser ics theme on the market Sonny sekhon has a free version of ics theme on xda and market and team syndicate has a paid version on market called stock ics blue both are really nice and make gb look alot like ics just make sure the theme is hdpi compatible and when u choose it it will have an error warning apply anyways and reboot and you have an ics knock off if she likes sense tommytomatoes classic has an ics theme that's really nice.called supreme ice cream

+1
I vote for MikG - it's stable, everything works, the tweaks are phenomenal, and there are a couple of ICS themes for it too. It's like the best of both worlds .
Alright thanks guys, I'm gonna look into some things
