Hey I'm looking for a good ROM for my mom. She's jealous of my stock ICS on my E4GT. Her phones rooted already, and I wanna find get a decent ROM to hold her over until the evos ics ROM is stable.
I want something refreshing for her, she's considering getting rid of evo, but I'm trying to convince her to wait until later this year to upgrade...
So what you got for me?

I recommended putting mikG on the phone its fast 100% stable and has great support same for Classic by Tommy tomatoe

If she likes ics you can put decks gb rom or cm7 on there and get a T-Mobile theme Chooser ics theme on the market Sonny sekhon has a free version of ics theme on xda and market and team syndicate has a paid version on market called stock ics blue both are really nice and make gb look alot like ics just make sure the theme is hdpi compatible and when u choose it it will have an error warning apply anyways and reboot and you have an ics knock off if she likes sense tommytomatoes classic has an ics theme that's really nice.called supreme ice cream

I vote for MikG - it's stable, everything works, the tweaks are phenomenal, and there are a couple of ICS themes for it too. It's like the best of both worlds .
Alright thanks guys, I'm gonna look into some things

I forgot I have an ics theme for the tmobile theme Chooser for aosp in the theme section here too til someone dug it up to the front page yesterday so if u go with aosp check it out ;-)

since we dont have a q&a section yet ill ask this here. CM7 or stock or whatever .i personally would just like to see an improved version of the stock Rom with all the optimizations. Cm7 really did nothing for me i guess a little too vanilla ...any thoughts?
I want to see all the bloat removed. I have no idea why t-mobile bloatware apps lead to download more bloatware apps. I will like to see Miui and Cm8. Hopefully Ice cream sandwich is all its cooked up to be.
I came from the SGS 4g community, and i am a big fan of Whitehawkx - Valhalla Rom, and before that i like all of Team Acids work especially dsexton702's Adrenaline Shot (although not a rom, very helpful in making virtually making an Samsung rom smoother the melted butter XD)
So something along those lines.
on a side not i read that Whitehawkx was to pick up an SGSII today and was planning to see what he can do with it so im pretty excited. plus Team Aicd says they have things in store for our phone as well.
Well im looking forward to cm7 or 8 and other roms especially getting rid of all the bloat! But i heard Whitehawkx was passing on it for prime?
Well i guess we will have to wait and see what he does.
i have never got to play around with CM but looking forward to it, and cant wait to get rid of all the bloat!
CM7 and CM8 (ice cream 4.0) is definitely a must have
Looking forward to a sense port....
I kid, I kid.
I'd just like the bloat gone and root. Some miui would be great too though.

+1 on the bloat and root. i thought i was gonna hate touchwiz but its really not that bad. im a big camera person and the worst thing about CM7 for me was the Camera app that came with it .i absolutely hate it
Stock. Debloated.

This. I have cm7 running on my Nexus S cus it felt laggy out the box. For my SGSII Im satisfied with performance and battery life. I just want a stock rom deodexed with no bloatware.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
For the most part no bloat and root. I have no real interest in cm7 but would really look forward to cm8.

Any rom created by Whitehawkx!
Mexdroid Team!!!!!! best rom ever!!!
Deodexed, lockscreen options

Root=No bloat=Overclock Kernel and optimizations. I can do without all the heavy theming
I'll take some Miui loving over here

Id like a Rom just like the stock one but without any bloatware and lag when swiping between home screen. I would also love to have that "bouncing" effect when you reach the top or the bottom of a page instead of the light blue color.
This was the most stable ROM ever for me and ever since I got an iPod touch, MIUI looks bad..I'm thinking of going back to Sense but I'm clueless. Any suggestions?

any of the sense 3.5 roms are great.
MIUI doesn't look bad.. Try a few themes there are some great ones.
I'm pretty certain that MIUI is the easiest rom for customization (using the theme app).
You can change pretty much every aspect so it can't just "look bad".
Ok that's the thing I've tried a bunch of different themes and I just don't like miui anymore. Probably the iPod made me sick of it. Now which sense roms we talking here? Can I get some links?
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Try mikG. His roms are pretty stable. Go to themikmik.com or themes/ mikroms.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
was never a big muiui fan because of the iphone feel it kinda had and sense roms are awesome for stability but just didnt like any of the roms that people came out with....up until tonight cm7 was my clear cut #1 choice but had an issue so id say evo deck or cyanogen paired with tiamat for the tier rom kernel experience...and with sense tho ive found some with crazy add ons
try some of these the guy has horrible reviews and spelling but the roms are sick to try
and they have a cyanogen ics rom

I had used sense Roms from MikRoms and they work great but now I've moved onto AOSP Roms like EvoDeck and I am much happier now since my battery last much longer
Sent from my Poo Flinging Evo

decks seems to run a little better for me than cm7... I get better battery, but they are nearly the same, as decks is based off CM
go with Joelz's sense 3.5 or tommy tomatoes 005. They are both fantastic. Tommy built launcher 2 in so you can use that and have the AOSP feel
Yeah, was looking for from something stable but good performance.

You flash old school CM7, Xplod, or legit ICS.
I am bored of cm7. I was on that for a long time. I want something snappy that can last a bit..

What about the Synergy ROM? Sense "3.0" with what I hear working 4G, GPS, WiFI.
Trying to make up my mind also, sinceIi really dont have a whole lot of time to "try before i buy".
I've tried synergy. Bad experience. Just super laggy but have not tried the 3.0 unless all synergy have 3.0.

So instead of complaining about not having enough roms, I thought would be cool to see what people are using right now. I look through the development forum and see that some roms are a little outdated and have no new comments... but that doesnt mean they're not being used. I might try them out if you guys vouch for them. So lets here it! I'm running on Beastmod 2 v3.6. I love the dark menus and all around blueness =D
CM7 and Team kang, i switch between both!!
my layout
Beastmod2 3.0 with some ics goodness here and there
Just switched from from g2with desire z hboot rcmx3d. And I'm digging this phone phone ...3 days into it I like. Waiting from some new roms to try ..
I would say beastmod with jugs kernel has been the best for me stable and unbelievable battery life
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
@Audi..I've had mine for just a few days too. I like your setup..looks good.
@Milena..do you have a link to that kernel? Mine only has slightly better battery life than my nexus s so I'd like to try something different
Best rom?
Stock rooted with bloat froze and the stock kernel.
Somehow everything magically works and it gets great battery life. Best of all though, you don't gotta wait for updates cause the thing works already. Lol

Great thread to start!
I'm on juggs. I tried best mod but when he left xda I just went to jugs and stayed. essentially the same. I can't wait till cm7 works with no bugs.
Which brings me to this question,
I'm going to attempt to port the MexdroidMod from the G2 over to the sgs2.
Is our phone a hpdi device?

eagles blood until we can get a fully working stable cm9 in here
Does anyone else still really really love their gingerbread setup? Don't get me wrong i looooove ICS, but i was running Blazer 4.1, Rogue Gunslinger Kernel, and the Mr. Softee theme, and it was in my opinion the best setup my phone has ever had, and i think it was just as snappy and smooth as ICS.
If someone could port the lockscreen mod that is in Mr, Smoothies to TW ICS i think that would put me on ICS for good.
Just wondering if anyone else felt the same way
Dude we had dev's sitting around bored for months.
They sure did hash out some wicked **** in that timeframe.
I think the delay on ICS was a blessing in disguise.

I agree, the regular supply of leaks and updating of roms was fun. So many different options and styles to choose from. Our forum will be full of solid roms very soon with source now available.

I was hoping someone would take the time to help me in finding a stock rom with the 15 toggles and battery percent like in the people rom or clean gb? I am running sleeper rom which is stock but the performance is meehhh....i am nowhere near a computer and wasn't sure if kennys stock build had the toggles.....I just think stock looks more proffesional hehehe....plus I'm one of the few who enjoy how touchwiz looks heheheh
