I doubt anyone is even going to acknowledge this thread cuz there are already so many concerning this very subject.
Short answer - Stock, unrooted, s-on EVO GB cannot be rooted yet.

apparently no
There's so many of these threads, you honestly don't even have to search. Just read a little bit, you'll see the questions answered 4 other times, in each section.

Yes, the XDA app does have a search feature. When you are on the main forum page, (not in a thread) hit the "More" button near the top right of the screen.

OTA GB isn't rootable yet. If you want GB and a root, you'd need a new ROM. There are ROMs with Sense if you like the stock ROM.
I think that there is a version of the GB stock ROM that is rooted somewhere on XDA.

I just wanted to say great first post...hopefully someone will find the way to root YOUR phone because according to the 100 or so other threads, if you would have SEARCHED FIRST nobody else has been able to get it but I have faith you might be the one. So please when you get the way to root will you please share it with the rest of us! But you might wanna check the first thread at the top of the Q and A forum I think the info u need is there. So when you figure root out please report back how you did it! Oh thanks again for one of the best first posts we have seen...
P.S. HOW FA KING HARD IS IT TO SEARCH BEFORE YOU FA KING POST!

I heard they do but its really really really really hard to figure it out. I think you have to be certified or something before you are allowed to use it! Lol this is getting ridiculous......
Sorry you have enough time to worry about my newbie post. That must suck.

It must suck more to be so busy that you don't have the time to search or even read the sticky at the top of this very forum (about an inch and a half down from the "New Thread" button).
Why is the newest EVO. So hard to root than other android phones? I had 3.3 and now upgraded to 3.7. Unrevoked doesn't work for it yet. Why is that?

It's a process to find a security hole to achieve root.
That being said, weren't you rooted previously?
That's what you get for not paying attention. Don't ever run an RUU. And this doesn't belong in the development section But I guess that's another symptom of not paying attention

Google is your friend, my friend.
If you have a new Evo you need to use an alternative method to root your phone!! The old methods and UNREVOKED will brick your phone. Here is what you need to know first.
I'm sure there are instructions here at xda to achieve the same thing but I'm not going to search it out for you. This is the method we used for a co-worker's Evo v.003
I never rooted before. And yes I do know that unrevoked worked for the older EVO and not the newer. I was just wondering what would be the cause for it being so difficult to do since other phones seem to get it solved more quickly. But thank you for your responce.

HTC is getting better at blocking our rooting methods. That and the update only came out a few days ago, it takes time.

No one has probably answered you because they cant believe you posted this. Not sure if you just got your phone and rooted but just a lil bit of searching would of let you know:
1. CM7 has built in hotspot - check it out under settings - wireless
2. There is an app on the market that achieves this goal as well. - just type in wifi in your market search
I see you are new here with not too many posts, my suggestion before they get on you is do searching till you cant search anymore then search again.
always read the OP - just trying to keep you from getting flamed next time
What does op stands for? And thanks for the advice

I am aware that they have acheived S-Off for a large amount of devices.
Will this process work for DI2 running OTA Gingerbread? Or are we unaware of what it is for at the moment?
Thank you.

So, this question has been asked and answered a dozen times in these forums, and questions do not belong in the dev section.

What is the best way to unroot? I have to send my phone back for warranty, I'm 16 so ill have to use my moms credit card and ill never hear the end of it if they charge her cause they know my phone is rooted. I need S-ON stock hboot stock radio(if it matters) and stock ROM, I read the guide on the unlocker.com but there's massive amount of comments saying they had problems or it didn't work. Any suggestions?

As long as its a stock rom it shouldn't matter, maybe try find the closest or exact rom it first came with.
