Why is the newest EVO. So hard to root than other android phones? I had 3.3 and now upgraded to 3.7. Unrevoked doesn't work for it yet. Why is that?

It's a process to find a security hole to achieve root.
That being said, weren't you rooted previously?
That's what you get for not paying attention. Don't ever run an RUU. And this doesn't belong in the development section But I guess that's another symptom of not paying attention

Google is your friend, my friend.
If you have a new Evo you need to use an alternative method to root your phone!! The old methods and UNREVOKED will brick your phone. Here is what you need to know first.
I'm sure there are instructions here at xda to achieve the same thing but I'm not going to search it out for you. This is the method we used for a co-worker's Evo v.003
I never rooted before. And yes I do know that unrevoked worked for the older EVO and not the newer. I was just wondering what would be the cause for it being so difficult to do since other phones seem to get it solved more quickly. But thank you for your responce.

HTC is getting better at blocking our rooting methods. That and the update only came out a few days ago, it takes time.

I'll give $20 to someone who will walk me through rooting my phone, via paypal.
It's the holidays so I can't do it now, however, I'd like to do it within the next few days.
I'd like to do it via skype. I'll have my cam ready so you can see my phone and computer screen, if you need to.
I'm afraid I'll mess something up, I read through the final frontier post for rooting, and it was so confusing for me, so I'd rather have someone help me and I will reimburse them.
I have hboot 2.10, version 0003 and my computer is windows 7 64 bit. I don't know if that matters but hey.
Thanks!

Read through the last 20 pages or so of zicronix root method then read through the steps a few times and you should be fine. I just rooted my phone a couple days ago with hboot 2.10, with little problems and nothing I couldn't handle on my own.

This is about as easy as it can get, thought it really isn't the recommended method anymore. If that's still too hard for you, then you need to slow it down and start reading.

The method posted by OriginalGabriel is the way to go. Trust me. I did it and was smooth as butter. I'm not sure why it has such a bad rep since I have heard of NO bricks from the easy root method. I think people see "Visionary" and get scared. It's perfectly safe for temprooting but a VERY bad idea for perm-root. The Gfree method is used for that... all you will be doing is running the scripts for Gfree instead of keying them in manually. No ADB, no hassle, much less room for error. Once you are rooted, get rid of Visionary and enjoy.

Naw, I agree with Pirateghost. Jargon exists for a reason. If one does not use the proper terminology, its hard to know what they are talking about. For instance, sometimes people ask "How do I unlock my phone?". Its impossible to know whether they are asking how to root, or how to unlock the SIM.

People coming over from the iPhone world may not know what all is going on here, so it is important to not confuse terminology. exactly like redpoint73 said, how do we know if they mean UNLOCK or ROOT or ROM?? do you know? if you do, then by all means help the guy out, i would prefer to not get the terminology muddled with inconsistencies.

Will this process work for DI2 running OTA Gingerbread? Or are we unaware of what it is for at the moment?

i am patiently waiting. I miss my old evo rooted. I was actually given a brand new evo that had 2.2 on it and the ota showed up and without thinking i updated. So mad about that.
Thanks, I'll be patient.
I understand this is hard work and you guys are doing it all for love (or for something other than money), so I'm not going to add my voice to the chorus asking when the root solution for 2.3.3 will be ready--even though I'm a-yearning and a-craving to upgrade and re-root my phone. I'll just say thanks for now to all you geniuses for making these phones so much better!
Hope it's soon because I'm ready I just got my evo 4g yesterday and tried to superoneclick root and z4root and it didn't work.. Never thought to check and see if 2.3 can root. Damn

the more people ask, the less likely it will be done!
And if you had searched, you would have seen this has already been asked!
I bet root will be available when you stop making new accounts just to make the same thread asking the same question over and over again.
If anything, the devs are probably getting tired of the obnoxious kids in the Evo forums badgering them. Instead of trying harder, I'd give up if I were in their shoes.
Believe it or not, there are worst things than not being able to root your phone.

Dude, if it existed there wouldn't be new threads asking. The Unrevoked team would be the ones coming out with it, assuming they will root the Inc 2.3.
Bottom line, the OTA has been taken, root added, and flashable zip has been made in the Development forums. It's the same exact thing, so if you're unrooted and S-ON you're out of luck. Period. No flashing back, no flashing recovery, no root as of now. You're stuck on stock 2.3.

I'm sure they're already aware of GB being out, its just up to them if they want to try to get root access.
Sent from my Droid Incredible running some random CM7 nightly.
Correct, they are under no obligation to provide root access, it is merely up to them if they want to pursue it. I know that they've teamed up with AlphaRev to work on root and S-OFF for the newer phones coming out.
I don't know what to tell you as far as contacting them. They do have a website, so try that. Otherwise, anyone who accepted the 2.3 OTA with S-ON is out of luck.

I completely agree and also with Loonatik. If this guy doesn't have a language barrier then he is a complete idiot. And his tone from all his post make him sound very impatient kind of as if here were doing us a favor.
If I've helped you, hit the thanks button!
I don't see it happening...it would involve the unrevoked crew to have an s-on unrooted incredible with
GB and unless someone donated, pulled some insurance trick(no bueno) or there was a dev out there with said inc(chances are most if not all don't or don't care) the chances are slim to none
