It used to be that the display ate most of my battery. Now "android system" is using close to ninety percent, even with data off. Any way of knowing which particular app is killing my battery? (losing fifty percent overnight with data off)
Thanks!

Are you running one of the gingerbread leaks? They seem to have an error reporting battery usage which would explain it.
Thanks
.
I'm running e502 but with ec05 modem. I was under the impression that it was the modem that was causing the problems.

There's a pretty good chance it is the modem, it's not recommended to use a Froyo modem with a Gingerbread rom.
I've been using ef02 with the same results.

I'm running into an issue where I can constantly reboot/shutdown with my phone. I've tried multiple batteries, multiple ROMs, different ODIN flashes using different cables and computers, and even the fix using SetCPU/Tegrak, but I still get reboots when the phone goes into sleep. Looking at the battery chart on GB, it shows the battery shooting down immediately to 0 and shuts off.
I'm running out of ideas here.
We know. Its a gingerbread bug.

Yeah I got that. I have the same issue on Froyo, though. I've tried the stock GB leak, CM7, CK23s ROM, Syndicate 2.2, and stock EC05.
Sounds like a bad battery or loose contacts. That is the only thing that will have your voltage shoot to zero.

I've gone through 7 different batteries now and still have the issue with all of them. The terminals seem fine. So far I haven't had the phone shutdown or reboot outside of sleep. If it's plugged in or in use, there is 0 issue.

Did you run straight stock and see if it does it?

Yeah I've gone through both Froyo stock, GB stock, CM7, MIUI, CK23, Syndicate and still having the same issue.

If it does it on straight stock EC05 then your phone sounds broken. Put stock on and take it to Sprint.

Not that it would matter, but have you been switching modems with the ROMs? Also, have you tried to ODIN?
Flashing sometimes leaves behind those nasty little bugs. =)

You could try wiping battery stats in recovery. Your previous roms may have altered the stat to read 0. Flash a rom boot charge to "100" shutdown wipe stats.

Might also goto the new EI GB rom if you're going to flash.
Was running CM9 alpha 2 on EI22 and the unit wasnt getting very hot, although the battery was draining.
Switched to CM9 Alpha4 and now on EL30 modem and noticing the phone is getting hotter although the battery life is improved... anyone else experiencing anything similar? Should I roll back to EI22 for Alpha4?

Then downgrade your modem to see if you experience the same effect. I don't think a modem will make your device hot. Are you tethering, overclocking the cpu or running graphic intensive apps?
Not tethering... Unfortunately the ei22 modem cannot be odind... I don't think.

That is correct. You have to Odin EC05 then do the flashable delta. Or you can run it with EC05 for a bit. A lot of people still rocking that EC05.

Hmm... I might consider the EC05. But I don't want to mess with deltas on an MTD.

The delta works fine on MTD. You just need the temp BML CWM 5 wtogami put out.

I suspect its actually the rom. I'm running stock el30 bml just rooted. And for the first time my phone is getting hot.
I was wondering which modem is the best when you want to extend your battery life.......... Thanks in advance
It will vary by phone and region but for me, EL29 has always been the best on both GB and ICS. You'll get different opinions though and in the end, choose what works best for you by trying more than one.

Im using El29 right now as well. I would say stay away from any ICS leaked modems, and run the latest stock modem (EL29).
i just been flashing modems but i haven't see any difference except battery drain

How much time are you giving the modem to settle in before flashing a new one?

less than 2 days.

2 days should be enough but battery drain isn't mainly due to a modem. Look for better battery stats here on xda and after you install it you should see what could be causing the drain.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
You do not need to"settle in a modem". Just update PRL/PROF.
Done..
I also concur W/EAO. EL29 sofar for me has been the best. All other ICS leaked modems are crap..
EL29 really probably did have the best battery life but I just couldn't stand the LoS. Where I am signal os spotty so I had to flash new modems for signal upgrades.
Sent from my iPhone killer.
For me FC18 was my favorite and the fastest, but that leak made my battery drain fast. I'm on FE16 now, and it's just a tad bit slower than FC18 but still faster than EL29 and the battery life is amazing.

You obviously didn't try FC18 or FE16 because you wouldn't be saying that if you did.
I flashed the EL29 and it's been better than the otrhers so far.......
Hey guys... I have a problem with my battery.. started about three days ago.. I haven't flashed or changed anything in my rom at the time... I was running blazer's ginger bread and I love it.. anyway.. the battery shows that it's charging even when it's not.. the notification light is on and the battery icon shows the little lighting bolt... the battery dies fast and nothing seems to help.. I reflashed blazer(wiped everything with calk's mod).. still like that.. wiped it again and went back to stock... still messed up.. I'm thinking maybe my battery is shot... what are your opinions...

Try odining back to EL29 so you have a clean slate then flash the blazer rom. That should fix your issues.

I'm really hesitant to flash a different kernel with this rom. I'm having crazy battery loss but I love the rom and don't want to change. Any suggestions from someone wiser than I?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
If its stock kernel you should try deleting useless apps.
I used the stock kernel and i have 15+ hours battery life. Also try using different modems, try the FI25 modem
At this point in time, source code for the JB kernel for the E4GT has not been released. Therefore, there are not any custom kernels. You need to stick with the kernel that came with the rom.

my battery life has been good in standby, a bit bad if I run something like the camcorder. In the past, I've had the best luck with CPU usage apps to determine which are using the processor more than you would like. I like Watchdog Task Manager Lite and Wake lock detector.
DO NOT FLASH A DIFFERENT KERNEL ON AOSP ROMS!!!!!
if you do that .... Lots of thing will go wrong, the kernel stays put
