Okay so I haven't been on in a bit and was a long time lurker....
currently on EE03 - looks like at least 2 in big talk right now - from what I saw didn't seem either is too stable...what is the current OTA modem? Is it the EF02, EF10 or are they both leaks?

Both ef02 and ef10 are leaks. When you update to the ef02 modem, you can ota to ef10. Ef02 is kind of unstable though. I get the best speeds on ef02 but its pretty unstable.

thanks...I appreciate the clarification on those 2...the option to OTA EF10 is odd to me though
It used to be that the display ate most of my battery. Now "android system" is using close to ninety percent, even with data off. Any way of knowing which particular app is killing my battery? (losing fifty percent overnight with data off)
Thanks!

Are you running one of the gingerbread leaks? They seem to have an error reporting battery usage which would explain it.
Thanks
.
I'm running e502 but with ec05 modem. I was under the impression that it was the modem that was causing the problems.

There's a pretty good chance it is the modem, it's not recommended to use a Froyo modem with a Gingerbread rom.
I've been using ef02 with the same results.
Your extra good deed today will make the entire world a better place!
I was wondering if anyone can help me with picking out a good modem I'm on dk28 right now thanks
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
I came from the dk28 build so I may be at your taste level.
The most stable build I am running right now is
the "old Marcusant ICS V4" with ei22 modem and the new samurai 3 kernel.
I added the gps fix and this phone runs awesome.
Better battery life, faster 3g, better bluetooth, gps works, etc.
it's like running the dk28 rom, but faster and better.
The old marcusant ics v4 thread is locked, but if you pm marcusant he may still have the download.

The newest is ussually the best but differs from device to device depending on your location etc. Ei22 is the latest but there are numerous such as ec05 ee03 ef02 eh17 eg22 the list goes on there's a sticky in development for modems to flash

Play with it.
I agree with Biggoron that it does differ from epic to epic, i found that my girlfriend likes the ei22 with legendary's rom.
She says its more to her taste and seems to run better on hers.
I always stick to released modems like EC05 and EI22. They work the best for me. Blew up too many leaked modems.
Everything's stable, more colorful, and battery life is definitely better. Ics was fun whole it lasted, but I just realized how good EL29 is, compared to ics (for the tome being).

Don't go you just have to stick with one rom and let it settle.

I've given all ics roms a chance, no disrespect to the devs, they made it a lot more enjoyable. It's just that it's based on unofficial leaks and I'd rather have everything workig rather than finding out what's broke in a situation where i need it.

I find fc22 to be perfect for me ( havnt ran into anything broke, besides setting wallpaper), and I see about a 10% increase in battery life, but I have removed as much as I would in a gb rom. Im happy. And I have done the right tests to make sure my battery life is better...

I am on Agat63 FC22 and the only issue is the notification sound and that is kinda user error. I get about the same battery as I got on phantom blazer el29. Same usage.

Hey Overstew is there a good place to read up on what to change in these roms to get ICS blue? I use to do custom roms on touch pro 2 but that was a lot diffrent.

wut el29 are you running anyways? Stock, Calk's tweaked, etc. Just curious. I've been thinking about going back. Battery life was better for me on GB. Btw, ur ics themes for them were awesome!!

I ran CM9 Alpha for a few days, and im back on Blazer 4.0. Missed the battery life, GPS stability, and overall fluidity. Cant WAIT for all the kinks to be worked out in CM9 though.

I flashed about 5 different EL29 roms and haven't flashed ics once.Because i know that ics is nowhere near ready yet and there isn't cwm for it yet.
The whole procedure is tricky(i can do it),flashing cm7 and then ics.And to go back to gb is think Odin i best bet if you don't want a brick.
Once there is stable ics and stable cwm for ics so i can flash different roms(without flashing cm7 first) then i will make that move. But i ditched Sprint and flashed to Virgin Mobile and i don't have warranty anymore to fix Epic if it bricks.
Hey over stew what method did you use to go back?
I've been wanting to just scared of bricking my phone lol

I did the same thing. I would much rather have full function and stability for now. We will have full source for ICS before too long. Then I will go back.
For all the people switching back, whats your main problem with ics fc22. Because I thought about switching back until I moved to fc22 from fc18.

Battery life in low signal areas. Certain incompatibility in some apps. (words with friends, for example.) And scrolling.
It really depends on ur needs. I agree that the ICS leaks are a lil flaky. I appreciate what the devs have done and all, but now ive moved on to asop cm9. It is ridiculously smooth! And notifications work perfectly. I dont use gps, i rarely use camcorder anyways. Although these deficits are ok with me, others so not much.

Honestly my main reason is due to all the constant updates. I personally tweak each ROM I run as what I want isn't readily available and I can do the work myself to make the build I am after. I get one done and a new one pops out. Which is great and frustrating at the same time. The fact that not everything is out for it either puts a damper on it too. Like a hotspot hack for the latest builds. I don't blame any of the devs for not keeping it updated as once they do update it another build comes out. That is a lot of work. Just moving PNG's around is a ***** much less coding framework files. It is little things that will take source for people smarter then me to fix. As far as issues I really haven't had a lot of them. The battery and scrolling can be aggravating. The notification sounds is a little annoying too but easily dealt with. But mainly I just would rather run a complete build now. Gather my PNG's and such and then once a final build is out. Make the one I have been waiting for.
I've been running the FF18 ICS leak for weeks now. I used SFHUBs one click method. My battery life hasn't been the best so was thinking about just going back to stock GB with root. I've read about using the EL26 one click. Is this the best method or is EL29 okay? I was considering taking my phone into Sprint for a replacement due to my battery life not being the best even when I was on GB. Thanks for your time.
EL29 one click. EL26 is the kernel people go back to for flashing ics roms or flashing from ics to gb. Full odin flashes are safe regardless you will be overwriting everything, this is unlike flashing from cwm in this instance.
Thanks Rain.

Typically Its safe to go to EL26 and then back upto EL29 if thats what you want.
Dont know if you are rooted or not, there are couple tweaked EL29 ROMs out there that have the best battery and performance.
I hear you, that thought has crossed my mind as I have tried several FF18 custom ROMs. I am now on Universe FF18 ROM and I am really happy with it. Just my two cents.
I left ICS f for the same reason. I use the EL29 with clockwork auto boot tar in mobile Odin. Works well. you right into recovery to flash GB or ICS. EL26 seems to be the method most use

If your using desktop ODIN you can go straight to EL29. There is zero point to going to an earlier version if all your going to do is flash EL29 anyways. However without a desktop present that is of course not an option.
You should use EL26 if your going back to GB without ODIN. As always if your going to another ICS rom you should use EL26 CWM or a safe ics kernel when available.
Full ODIN tars can be applied over any version safely. Pre rooted one clicks are included just be sure to use the full version never do a no data going backwards, but if u do just factory reset (of on gingerbread).

Yeah I'm rooted but on stock been running Sfhubs leaks I haven't flashed any ICS roms. I used Calkulins and Phantom Hackers gingerbread roms they were nice. I'm still on the FF18 but probably will go back to EL29. I have a upgrade on my of lines in 23 days so was debating the S3.

They won't replace your phone because of battery life. They might give you a new battery if you get really lucky but most likely you'll just end up wasting your time
