Hey guys... I have a problem with my battery.. started about three days ago.. I haven't flashed or changed anything in my rom at the time... I was running blazer's ginger bread and I love it.. anyway.. the battery shows that it's charging even when it's not.. the notification light is on and the battery icon shows the little lighting bolt... the battery dies fast and nothing seems to help.. I reflashed blazer(wiped everything with calk's mod).. still like that.. wiped it again and went back to stock... still messed up.. I'm thinking maybe my battery is shot... what are your opinions...

Try odining back to EL29 so you have a clean slate then flash the blazer rom. That should fix your issues.

Thank you.. I will try that..

Granting applications Root access does absolutely nothing to effect your reception or your battery. Notice the Big period
Installing apps that constantly run in the background, will kill your battery.

That's why I'm so confused by it. Root explorer is the only app I've installed since rooting. Everything else is the same

You gotta get a ROM. You will find that they are improved with more battery life than stock. And Jangst is absolutely right. Rooting.will have no affect on your battery life other than your display being up so bright.or running applications in background.

I feel ya there. I'm the same way. I am using the deodex stock rom from Bubby though. Just in case I want to do stuff later on.
I also tried different kernels and am now back with the stock one. I got worse battery with non stock kernels. People will say otherwise, but I use my phone the same daily, and I can easily tell.
"Omg 28 hours battery on one charge" <- Nope, ain't happening if you actually use your phone like I do....

Which root method did you use?
You may have inadvertently screwed up the battery stats while rooting!
So you may need to recalibrate the battery.
I resisted rooting for the 1st two weeks and I can say I definitely get better battery like with Juggernaut and Bullet.
So give this a try.
Here ya go
Try charging to 100% then
Shut off, Pull battery for about 1 minute, replace, and charge to 100% and with the charger still plugged in
Boot to recovery
Wipe cache partition, then in advance wipe Dalvik and wipe Battery Status
Reboot after 5 to 10 min, unplug the charger and reboot
Or before Flashing a ROM or Kernel
My personal theory is that flashing on something other than 100% full battery screws up the calibration! So,,
Charge to 100% before Flashing
Then only wipe Wipe cache partition, then in advance wipe Dalvik and DO NOT wipe Battery Status
Works for me
If you don't have recovery!
Try charging to 100% then
Shut off, Pull battery for about 1 minute, replace, and charge to 100% and with the charger still plugged in
Reboot and try the following posted by explodingboy70
Calibrate your battery!
- There seems to be a safety feature in Gingerbread or Samsung's version of Gingerbread that causes the battery to start draining when it reaches 100%. That said to calibrate your battery properly you must do it as soon as the battery full pop up appears.
- Download the app found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1024867 and follow the on screen instructions.

You should give the custom kernels at least a week to set in. I didn't get amazing battery until like 5-6 days after I flashed bullet kernel. I'm on stock rom as well....

Might be a coincidence but tmpbile might be messing with the towers in your area which gives u bad low reception. Low reception = fastest way to kill battery

Ok so I have flashed a few roms and now my battery seems like its on a drain suicide mission. I used the same Rom for a week had great battery life with sinister Rom tried cm7 and flashed back to sinister for example my phone has been off the charger less than 10 minutes and its drained 11 percent already.
What's going on? It was so stable.

Search the word battery calibration.
I found switching to sense and aosp a lot messes with the battery stats

Look for viperboys rom in e3d dev. There is battery calibration info in there that I just tried. It takes about 3 cycles to complete but worth it.
Support TrevE !
Well now I'm getting random reboots too I think I just might go to my first nandroid right after I rooted my phone and start over

Is there something about ics that is making the phone run so hot, on aokp, cm9, and calk's 1.6 the phone is really hot after the screen is on for about 10 mins
I've had this issue once. Usually due to my phone not liking a kernel. Go back to a GB rom and if it doesn't persist then u found ur solution.

hapen when ur running many things on ur phone like watching video will make ur phone hot or playing games its normal
Mine did the same thing. I been using RubiX Reborn rom and it actually solved my problem. Even with wifi tether it doesn't get hot.

I flashed calks 1.6 the other day and noticed big battery drain. I reflashed today just to make sure. Drains about 20% an hour in my pocket. As soon as I start using it, it drains so fast i can watch the percent countdown lol. It dropped 20% posting this. Its also charging weird. When I plugged it in it was at 65% and in 20 min it was full. This is very odd because I used this rom many times and it had great battery life. Anyone else experience anything like this on their E4GT ?

Must be a bad battery, how long have you have your battery? also have you removed battery stats?
Try using phone at maxxed out power until it drops to 0% then recharge battery until full, I recommend overnight.
And get back to me...
I don't think its the battery unless it went bad overnight lol. It was fine the other day. Something weird happened a few weeks ago i dont know if it has anything to do with this but I flashed a rom that I had flashed before many times (phantoms blazer ics) and it aborted the install. I reset my phone with sfhubs one-click , formatted it,
And tried flashing a new rom and same thing. I posted about it in Q&A and no one really helped out too much. I tried everything new downloads, new kernels you name it I tried it. And it still happened, everything I tried, to flash got aborted on el26. It was so odd cause it was doing it to old downloaded roms and the el26 I've been using since ics . I could flash a gb rom in el29 but as soon as a flashed el26 and tried flashing something it would happen again. The only thing that would flash successfully is calks format all (every time)So I got frustrated, and i stayed on stock rooted el29 for a week or 2 since no one would help. The other day I figured id try again off a fresh reset and new downloads, and it went fine, I flashed a few roms but decided to go back to calks 1.6 . And now the battery issue ? Should I wipe battery stats? I don't really know what that does. Btw I reflashed and it didn't solve anything, still draining. I will try running it down and charging overnight. Any other suggestions?

Btw I've had this phone with the same battery for about 5 months now
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
Did you flash back to gb ?
Or flash another Rom but imo its probably due to an app installed that's not ready for ics
only thing I can think of is I downloaded the T.5.3.0.32 VVM for ICS. The one I downloaded is supposed to safe for ICS. You think that could be draining my battery?

Time to upgrade to a released rom....
Calk's 1.6 is based on old, unreleased code and isn't supported. Calkulin has moved on and no longer dev'ing for this phone.
I would like to but I liked that rom for its stability and battery life, but my question is why is my battery life bad now. Ive ran this same rom (same download) before and it was great. Why the bad battery life all of a sudden?

Hi guys,
So recently I started noticing that when my phone has been fully charged, it would say 100%. But when I unplug it, it says 98%.
Is there a problem with my battery? Do I need to delete my battery stats file or something? I'm running stock battery.
Also I've noticed this across different ROMs.
Thanks

i think that it has to do with the roms lately and battery stats has nothing to do with it and battery calibration wont solve the problem either
has to be rom based
Not sure about 4.2.2 roms, but its been a known bug on 4.1.2 since official jb came out, and is on roms based off it o believe!
Nothing we can do....yet.

Thanks for the feedback guys Glad its not a problem with the hardware
EDIT: Ran out of thanks I'll get some tmrw and give it to y'all
