Wired headset mic not working with CM7.0.3 - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, always looked here first for info and help when it came to getting stuff done on android. I'm on the tail end of a lomg and arduous journey of migrating from my old Moto Cliq (mb200) to my now shiney new G2!
I originally got this phone for free from a friend cus it had water damage and woudnt show anything on the screen. I've since replaced the lcd and flex cable (both were damaged) and done some scrubbing under the keyboard to get it fully functional.
Last issue I'm having is that the mic on my wired headset isn't picking up voice. It may be hardware but I'm more inclined to think its software.
Any thoughts?

I'm also having this issue. In logcat I see that the headset gets picked up correctly, i.e.
Code:
Headset name: headset , mic:1
But the icon show in the notification bar doesn't show a headset with a mic, nor do any applications pick up the mic input. The play/pause function work for the button input, and the button presses get picked up as audio clicks (when recorded)
Apparently it does work with the stock rom though. Anyone have any data points on this issue?

Wired headset buttons stopped working

Hi,
I have the handsfree headset that came with my Desire, now about 2 months old. A couple of days ago the control buttons on the headset stopped working, I can no longer remotely answer calls, or pause and change music tracks. The headset earphones and microphone still work, I can listen to music and use it for phone calls that have been activated from the phone itself.
The headset itself has not received any 'obvious' damage, it hasn't been dropped in water or the like.
Before I go out and buy a new headset I thought I'd better try and confirm if they were indeed at fault. Is there, for instance, a phone setting to disable the headset controls.
Have you tried rebooting the phone? I once had the media service play up and the keypresses stopped working until I rebooted the phone.
You could also have installed some other software which are capturing the button inputs.
The buttons work over the microphone wires, so its unlikely to be a broken cable if the mic is still working.
I have done a soft reset, taken the battery out, no help. Next move, I suppose is a hard reset back to factory settings. I've not done one of thesebefore, what do I lose, or better put, what doesn't the back-up save?

Bluetooth Audio Difficulty

Hey so I've tried searching other threads for my specific challenge and none of them seem to really touch on this so here goes.
I have a Samsung Fascinate, I'm rooted and I've flashed a bunch of kernels and ROMs no problem and as far as I can tell my Bluetooth works fine and audio works fine.
My issue is this: My car supports hands free calling via bluetooth and i've paired them with no issues and have made/received calls no problem. I've also used my phone to play music through the AUX cable no problem. I know that my car STEREO does not support Bluetooth and here is where i run into a problem.
I have my phone plugged in on my way to work singin along to my favorite tune when a call comes through. But (I think) when the AUX is plugged in, it interferes with the audio when connected to the bluetooth. Basically i can hear a call coming through on my car stereo and i can push the buttons on my steering wheel for functions on the phone but i can't hear and the other end can't hear me. So i have to end up unplugging the AUX cable out then the audio returns.
First off... is it just me? did I do something wrong along my journey of flashing all sorts of stuff? cuz i could've sworn at one point (i think before i went voodoo) it was all working fine together, but i could be wrong.
So if it's not something I did, is there a headset adapter out there with controls and possibly some kinda screen for like caller id or at least current track? like something that can connect to regular earphones that has an inline mic and controls.
Unless you fine folks have a better idea I would love to hear them. (I don't have a budget for this... just want to get it working... unless it's cheaper to buy a new car that can support it all)
Thanks
I think this is a fascinate specific or limited problem

[Q] Headset buttons

Hi, nothing comes up when searching for headset and buttons here in the dinc forum, so is there any way I can get the buttons on the headset I have to work? I've got the blackberry multimedia headset. Its got buttons, a mic, and a 4 pin connector. As of right now my dinc doesn't recognize them. The speakers work and sound great, but the button doesn't do anything. However I don't loaded an app that supposedly maps the buttons to my liking, and that app does recognize that I'm pressing buttons, but nothing more.
Anyone else cross this bridge? I'd at least like the headphones to act like the htc headphones do for pausing and answering calls. So far they don't do even that.
I tried a pair of rocketfish headphones I had with the mic and a button built in, and those didn't work either. Those were 3 pin connector headphones. So the problem lies in my hardware or software.
My dinc is rooted, running the latest incredibly re-engineered rom, which is a very very good evo port. Its running the kernel that the rom flashed over when I flashed the rom package. Perhaps my problem lies in the kernel?
Anyway, got any ideas? I'm guessing other dinc owners would like to know the answer to this question as well.
Thanks
Making some progress with the headset control app. I at least have play/pause and voice dial working. BTW this is with the blackberry headphones. I can't believe HTC didn't implement this feature to its wired headsets. Even my touch pro had this feature. Perhaps they're just transitioning to the bluetooth headphones
EDIT: ya that app was apparently switched off in its settings, so now I really have no idea whats going on.
Ok so I am now using the headset button controller app. I've got pause and play set to one press and forward and back set to two and three presses. Then one long press opens voice command. Not exactly using all the buttons on the headset like they should be but it works.

Non-functional htc headset buttons
EDIT: My headset buttons don't register at all
Devnull-TEST ROM Kernel 2.6.37 on HTC Desire
Oxygen-2.0.1 works fine but I prefer the non de-odexed DevNull ROM
Will try to flash Kernel 2.6.38 and see.
EDIT: kernel didn't resolve this for me. Oxygen rom doesn't do as well as devnull on my battery so i will abandon hope of a headset solution and return to devnull.

[Q] SkullCandy Roc Nation Aviator's Mic not working

Hi - I just got my Roc Nation headphones a bit back, and the mic on them doesn't work, nor the volume buttons. I'm running CM 7 RC 4 right now on my T-Mobile G2. No one can hear me when I answer the phone, but I can hear them. Anyone have this issue before?
I have the same problem Droid X - Apex ROM. I didn't expect the controls to work because it was made for an iphone, but it recognizes a mic is plugged it because it turns off the main mics. I'll have to find someone with an Iphone to check to see if the mic is just broke.
checked other apps that record audio, sound works through the mic on those, just not on phone calls

Text input and inline mic issues

I got my OP3 quite recently so I installed 3.2.7 almost as soon as I set it up so I have a couple of issues but I'm not sure if they were already there when I was on 3.2.6…
Firstly, there's a strange bug where sometimes the keyboard won't actually put onto the text field what you're typing but the keyboard app still acts like you're typing it in (suggestions change, you have to hold down the backspace button for longer to delete words that aren't actually on the screen), or the text will be inserted in the wrong place (as I was reminded while writing this!). A quick fix is to switch keyboard. I have Xposed installed, but not many modules that I didn't have installed on my previous Nexus 5 on stock Marshmallow that didn't have this issue.
Another issue is that the inline mic on my earphones doesn't work. Or perhaps the mic broke around the same time my Nexus 5 did, or it's a hardware problem with the phone? But the earphones and the playback buttons still work as well as they ever have, with the exception that the earphones buzz a bit when I'm charging (but the Nexus 5 had the earphone jack on top). This buzzing was actually a recording of me saying "Testing, testing, 123" etc with the inline mic right in front of my face.
These aren't *huge* issues for me but if anyone can help resolve them it would be great.
Xposed log and logcat here.
