I've tried several times to get a new theme on cm7. But all the time I try to install the apk-file with a file manager it says: an error has occurred with the installation. What do i have to do to get a theme on my CM 7 Wildfire?
Try installing from market

Download root toolbox from the android market. Run the app then go to other > cm7 themes.
Done

And another thing: Go to settings > Application settings > check the box next to Unknown sources
That should solve the issues installing .apk files with your file manager.
But if that still doesn't work download root toolbox. Easy to use

Hi sorry if this has been mentioned already but I can't find a fix anywhere.
I have installed a froyo Rom and I want the latest Android market. I have downloaded the apk and when I try to install it fails. So I went to system/app and tried renaming the vending apk to .old and rebooted and then try to install the new market but the same thing happens.
Can anyone help me out please.

Have you tried the easy way yet? I mean going to "settings -> applications -> manage applications" and simply clearing the market application's cache? Worked for every phone I updated so far...

Yes I tried that. I have done it now I found a zip file and installed from recovery. Thanks anyway.

Hi,
I'm in Japan, and the (free) "Softbank Mail!" MMS app is the only one working at the moment. Problem is, they updated the software to 1.6 which was a huge step down from 1.5 . I didn't update, so I'm safe on my OpenDesire Rom.
I want to switch to Oxygen ROM, but I realized I don't have 1.5 version of softbanks Mail App. I am forced to download the new and unimproved 1.6 from the market.
So I want to make a copy of the 1.5 from my OpenDesire build to my PC, flash Oxygen, and install the 1.5 on Oxygen. Do-able? If so, what is the proper procedure for this (if I'm allowed to ask..?)
This app is 100% free, I am not attempting to pirate anything in any way shape or form, break any copywrite agreements, just want to use the (more) reliable version on a different ROM.
Have you tried using Root Explorer or adb and copy the apk from /system/app folder?
Oh, just adb will work? I can try that. I'll have to google root explorer, not sure what that is.
The app name on the market is different than the actual app when its on my phone. So i should just do adb pull mail?

Can you extract it from your opendesire rom zip and put it into the oxygen one before flashing?

have you tried backing it up with titanium back up and then installing the new rom, then installing titanium back up again and restoring your back up, in theory that should just keep the 1.5 version

Hi Mike, to be honest I haven't a clue as to how to do this. I would have to zip my OpenDesire in it's current state, extract, install on oxygen zip, resign, install on phone?

Hi vengeance, I purchased My Backup Pro a while back, ended up not using it because I couldn't figure it out (lack of options). I'll check into that one a bit more though.

Ok, if you haven't got the rom zip as a download you can do this..
Download 'Super Manager' from the market.
Using this you can backup the mms.apk that's currently in your opendesire rom.
Once backed up, copy it to your computer.
Download the Oxygen zip to your computer.
Open (don't extract) the oxygen zip and navigate to /system/app - I use 7zip to do this.
Drag the backed up mms.apk into the open oxygen zip so the opendesire one overwrites the oxygen one.
Close the oxygen zip and transfer it to your sdcard.
Install

Ok, used the backup program. Worked like a charm. Thanks!
I just want to install the RUU without having it restoring my market apps after i open the market app, is there any way to do that? I'm currently on Cyanogenmod 7.0.2
Untick the option for "Automatic restore".
You can find the above setting mentioned by JMM at Setting > Privacy
Yep that's worked for me

I've been googling about how to get the market in the CM7 rom for about two weeks , first I downloaded the market as a normal app , just got the apk and it doesn't work , then I read about that "gapps" package that I've flashed and no market appeared , I've just got three aditional applications : google search / car home / news and weather.
Looking for help getting thr market , thanks in advance.

Here you go. The newes Android Market. Just install the apk file on your phone.
You can complain about the absence of market after doing two things.
One is flashing the universal Google apps package for cm7 from recovery. And the second is signing into Google account on your phone. I hope you have done both.
And simply flashing the apk file may not install the market when there is no market on phone.
You can also check with a file manager whether or not there is "vending.apk" in the path "system/app".

Many people have been facing problems with downloading apps from Market when using CM7. This is a simple tutorial who anyone can follow.
Requirements:
S-OFF or Bootloader Unlocked
Permanent Root
Steps:
1. Download and Install Rom Toolbox from Market (Yes, I know this is for fixing the download errors, but still). (Get it from an external site).
2. Open it and allow it for Root Permissions.
3. Choose Root Browser from the list.
4. Scroll down to system folder.
5. Open it. You will see a build.prop file.
6. Long press on it and scroll down to 'Open in Text Editor'. Choose it.
7. Now, you will see a text file. See the line:
ro.product.model = HTC Wildfire
Change it to:
ro.product.model = HTC Wildfire S
8. Press the Save button.
You're done! All your Market errors should now be gone.
Note: If for any reason you want the original file back, it will be saved as build.prop.bak.
Please click thanks if this helped!

Sadly, this doesn't for me.
When I open the file, there already is the wanted line, but still i cant get into the market.
When I open the market, it says: Do you want to add an account? When I click on yes, the market closes.
What can i do?
i have had the same problem i just installed via cwm the latest google apps rebooted and it worked for me
i used gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
I will try it.
Small Off-Topic question: Are there any other buggs in CM7?
No other bugs in cm7 unless to start trying to push it by the way the new kernel on the nightly update is very good
