Many people have been facing problems with downloading apps from Market when using CM7. This is a simple tutorial who anyone can follow.
Requirements:
S-OFF or Bootloader Unlocked
Permanent Root
Steps:
1. Download and Install Rom Toolbox from Market (Yes, I know this is for fixing the download errors, but still). (Get it from an external site).
2. Open it and allow it for Root Permissions.
3. Choose Root Browser from the list.
4. Scroll down to system folder.
5. Open it. You will see a build.prop file.
6. Long press on it and scroll down to 'Open in Text Editor'. Choose it.
7. Now, you will see a text file. See the line:
ro.product.model = HTC Wildfire
Change it to:
ro.product.model = HTC Wildfire S
8. Press the Save button.
You're done! All your Market errors should now be gone.
Note: If for any reason you want the original file back, it will be saved as build.prop.bak.
Please click thanks if this helped!

Sadly, this doesn't for me.
When I open the file, there already is the wanted line, but still i cant get into the market.
When I open the market, it says: Do you want to add an account? When I click on yes, the market closes.
What can i do?
i have had the same problem i just installed via cwm the latest google apps rebooted and it worked for me
i used gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
I will try it.
Small Off-Topic question: Are there any other buggs in CM7?
No other bugs in cm7 unless to start trying to push it by the way the new kernel on the nightly update is very good

I was using bbc iplayer yesterday on the mobile site (which requires flash) And it was absolutely fine, but today its saying my device is not supported. I'm using pays-Rom froyo aNd the full iplayer site works fine (apart from its not optimized for mobile).
Anyone else had this?

Might need to get the latest Flash version, works fine for me
Has to be on WiFi, mind...and I'm using the latest Flash 10.1.92.8 build

How do I find out what build I'm using? And did you update flash recently?
Go to Settings>Applications>Manage applications>All and it will be listed there - click on it and it'll say the build...
I use an MCR r8-based ROM so it has the latest Flash release in it already, I can provide a link to the APK if you need it (or just Google 'Flash 10.1.92.8 APK' and you'll find links)
IT'S not letting me install it. It says "application not installed" , don't know what's going on here.
What version are you on at the moment? I also take it you're using a file manager to install it and have 'unknown sources' ticked to allow non-Market apps
10.1.72.7 Yh I'm using astro file manager and unknown sources is checked. I select upgrade and it starts installing then stops and says application not installed.
Anyone know why its not installing?

I had the same issue with MCR6, and in order to update Flash I had to delete it from /system via recovery. Once this was done, I could reinstall again.
I think it is probably because Flash is installed /system, and you can only update /system apps via the Market. Note, this is a theory, not a fact, but I notice that later MCR builds have Flash installed in /data.

Dave
Ok thanks Dave, how do I remove an app using recovery? And how come flash isn't in the market yet?

I believe Flash is in the Market, but unless your build.prop indicates you are using a Nexus One, it won't appear.
Vis-a-vis deleting whilst in recovery, I should have been more explicit in that you use ADB whilst in recovery to delete the APK from /system.

Dave

Turn off the phone, turn it on, wait for blue led and press Vol.Down.
Select Recovery, Custom Recovery, Install zip from sdcard, Choose zip and select the Swype one.
Reboot and you're done.
Already tried that, but the install gets aborted, no idea why.. Any other ways to install it?
Installed the way listed above worked perfectly

I've read somewhere in the main CM7 topic that another way is possible...
Here you are! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14411454&postcount=5732
Got it working, I was using the attached file from the swype thread, which apparently does not have the install script. Downloaded the swype installer from the link instead at it worked like a charm!
Thanks for all your help!
Swype 3.0 (the Zip File contains Ver 2.x)
Another method is to go to the Swype Homepage (https://beta.swype.com/) Register for getting an Beta-Tester Account.
Step by Step Guide
Possible Problems:
You have an older Swype version installed (from zip)
- Just re-install or update your CM7 with the latest RC or nightly like
3) in Thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1065798
Now the old Swype should be gone...
Swype crashes after installing was sucessfull
- Deinstall Swype via Settings/Applications, reboot and re-install from the Swype installer.
I tried it today with the latest nightly...
Hey guys so here's the latest version of swype. This should be the last one you have to install like this since updates from now on will be OTA.

I really liked it. Though today i booted up my phone and got fc like crazy over swype. If you read the apk it says minimum os requirement is 3.1
So far, after a restart, I have it working again.. What I did:
1. Select a different keyboard to stop the force closing of the new Swype.
2. Restore the original pre installed Swype.
3. Dalvik wipe and a cache wipe. after the reboot, FIRST de-select the default Swype input to Android keyboard
5. Delete the old Swype (backup the original) from system/app.
6. Proceed to the Swype installer and install Swype, when it gets to the licensing part, you should get a background fc (I believe that's Swype restarting from unlicensed, to licensed.)
7. Don't enable Swype after licensing is done. Instead move it to system/app.
8. Restart into cwm. Dalvik wipe 3x, and reboot. The force closing is gone. Go into the locale and text input in settings, and notice all keyboards are checked. when you try typing no keyboard should come up.
9. Launch Swype installer and it now says (sorry, Swype is not available on preinstalled devices) close out and as soon as you try typing again, the new Swype will work again . No force closes, still works after reboot and etc.
I hope this delicate procedure helps someone else who wants the latest Swype, its Hella worth it, and you'll be glad you did since here on after it will be ota updates! =D

Hm, after I remove 3.25 then reboot it's still there! Guess I'll have to stick with that one...
EDIT: Was able to remove 3.25 with Titanium Backup, rebooted and installed 3.26 successfully. Lost the slick theme from the Nexus S 3.25 but better functionality and OTA updates will be worth it!
Got it to work on my Epic 4g with SRF 1.2 with Twilight 1.1.1

http://forums.androidcentral.com/sp...e-3-26-any-luck-installing-3.html#post1353299
1. Uninstall your current Swype (just the keyboard, leave the installer)
2. Make a backup copy on your sdcard of /system/build.prop (Use ES File Explorer/Root Explorer, etc.. Something that has root access and write access to root level)
3. Go in and open your current build.prop on the device in /system/ and modify the following line.
Change the line:
ro.product.model=Nexus S 4G (on our phone it shows sph-d700, but change it to Nexus S)
To read:
ro.product.model=Nexus S
Save, reboot and run the installer.. You will then have 3.26 when completed. Afterwards go back in and either change your current build.prop back to saying Nexus S 4G or delete out the current and replace with your backup copy.

I just got it installed, loving the new layout. Bigger spacebar and they removed the language icon finally!
running SR v1.2, just used titanium backup to uninstall the system app. Then installed as normal from the site. Works great.
Update: looks like when I reboot, I get a bunch of Swype force closes. I made the update to build.prop above and it fixed the issue.
1. Uninstall your current Swype (just the keyboard, leave the installer)
2. Make a backup copy on your sdcard of /system/build.prop (Use ES File Explorer/Root Explorer, etc.. Something that has root access and write access to root level)

Good catch. This fixed my FC on reboot problem. I just wish we could have this without the installer.
My version of getting it installed can have installer removed, without faking the build.prop
Hm.. interesting, I'm not able to follow my instructions on GB. They worked fine for Froyo. Guess my Instructions only help if you're on froyo?

I successfully installed 3.26, what I did:
1. Switched to Android Keyboard (turned off Swype)
2. Uninstalled Swype AND Swype Installer with Titanium
3. Went on-line to have new invite email sent.
4. Clicked on link, Installer installed no problem.
5. Swype installed no problem.
Can the Installer now be uninstalled, since Swype is supposed update itself automatically from now on?
If you want 3.26 themed, check out this guy's site. Awesome work, and they're all fully compatible with our phone.
Also very easy to install. All you have to do is download his apk, uninstall swype from ur phone (thru titanium OR delete w/ root explorer), then just install the new swype 3.26 regularly. no need to root explorer push or flash or wutever. just install. 1-2-3.

better hurry in case swype shuts this guy down or something, as they've done in the past. or at least request that he takes down all his swype beta apks.
i love this keyboard thanks
can someone please post the latest beta apk? i have deleted the appropriate files/previous version and downloaded the installer but it still wont let me install the beta.
please help
Send you the apk is not allowed cause it's only for beta testers...but you can contact the Swype support
i dont think that is true as you can download it directly from their website but if your phone has swype preinstalled they dont let you download it. Can someone please post the latest version of swype with Dragon?
thanks in advance,

If you are a beta member you can download it. If you have Swype preinstalled remove the apk, lib file, and data folder then install the Swype installer. Swype has asked before that people stop publicly distributing their product, especially their betas.

Gaaps MIUI
will this version of Gaaps work with MIUI ROM ?
Work on all CM7 androids?
AW: [TUTORIAL] Install Gaaps for Cyanogenmod7, Market and Google apps.
Some ROMs have their own recommended GApps so check first in your ROMs thread. If not, you can just browse goo.im for the latest GApps. Make sure, it's the right package for your Android version. Jb = jellybean, gb = gingerbread. For the flashing you can follow the guide above.

I have the same problem and yes, using a file explorer there is no Play store at system/app.
Is it possible that there is no Play store or Market until I setup a google account on the device (because at the moment I'm right after factory reset, so there is nothing on the phone)?

I downloaded the proper gapps, boot into recovery, wipe cache, wipe data / factory reset, install gapps, reboot. Then now it's working. I don't know what happened previously after the first factory reset (it was from the menu, not from recovery).

I've been trying that for a while now, and I still can't use Google Play Store.

IT's right here, NAMELESS ROM by djoliver: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2206780 :good:
Give it a try, believe me, it worth it
But i'am still having a trouble with this ROm, the default voice search is not working, i need it for my virtual assistant to work..I tried to download from the market but it say that Voice Search is installed, i can't delete it and install a new one either.
Any Ideas ?
AW: Trouble with NAMELESS ROM by djoliver
hey dude
i have a option to solve the problem:
1. download link2sd from google play
2. open it
3. look for voice search and tap on it
4. there you can reinstall, freeze, or deinstall.
5. select reinstall
5,1. if it is not working just deinstal it and search in the market for the same or something better.
Hope i helped you
According to this post it's not a ROM issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39628648&postcount=17
To delete apps that are included with the ROM, there's no need for Link2SD or any apps like that.
All you need is a Root Browser (Most CM10 roms have the default Cyanogenmod one. You need to take it off Safe mode from the settings tho).
I personally use Root Browser Lite which can be downloaded.
Navigate to System > App and find the corresponding App and you can just press & hold it and select Delete. Boom, app deleted.
But back to your original point, Voice Search also does not work for me and I am using the same ROM. Maybe you can use a similar 3rd party app?
