Morning all,
Just thought I'd forward the information regarding some new official accessories by Sony Ericsson. They look pretty interesting!
"The first is a funky docking station called LiveDock multimedia station (DK10) that is intended to be a base station for your device in the home or office. The dock is compatible with the Xperia arc, neo and upcoming ray along with other future products. The LiveDock allows you to call up pre-specified apps when the dock is engaged or to connect a range of USB devices such as a keyboard or gaming controller. As LiveDock incorporates both a micro and full size USB ports you can even transfer content from a USB stick onto your Xperia device. More info on LiveDock can be found here:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/products/accessories/overview/livedock?cc=global&lc=en#a#
The second product is the LiveSound hi-fi headset. The first thing that you will notice about the design of the product is the tangle free cables. Next you will see that in addition to the in line 'remote' volume controls there is a LiveKey button on the remote. LiveKey allows you to LIKE a piece of music directly to Facebook, have your latest SMS or email read to you through the headset, employ TrackID or access Google Voice Search. LiveSound oozes high end sound and premium design which results in you being able to enjoy natural audio reproduction meaning you get to enjoy your music as it was meant to be heard. More info on LiveSound can be found here:

Just noticed the links aren't working, as soon as I get the updated ones I'll post them for you!
The dock looks great, tx for sharing!
Ahh good the links are working, very excited about the dock
Info has been out for a week or more http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032097&page=4
LiveDock is compatible with devices with 2.1 android version (eclair)

bottomline i want to buy bluetooth stereo headset for music listening, i was considering buying the mw600 right now at the store, however here is my main concern. I want the headset to work with my laptop also, i understand you'd need some type of a2dp software for the OS to get it work.
basically would that be a problem if i bought mw600 and wanted to stream all audio from my pc? i am willing to buy a 3.5mm audio transmitter if i have to and if doing so would that be a problem also with how mw600 works, should i be looking at this model and if not which(i like the price on mw600)
i know my phone works with mw600 but i want to stream audio from pc/laptop, look forward to the responses need to get something today before the stores close.
Motorola S305 Bluetooth Stereo Headset from Amazon...$35...Have bought 3...People see mines and want the same. Dont know about the PC thing though.
i'm intrested in earbuds and not to mention the mw600 has the ability to swap headphones due to it's 3.5mm jack. the question is getting it to work for pc, thats my main goal.

according to Sony's website it will work:
"Connect to two wireless devices simultaneously, allowing access to the music files in your computer, PDA or other Bluetoothâ„¢-equipped devices."
taken from:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/products/accessories/overview/mw600#view=features
btw those look really nice...where were you gonna buy them?
I cant seem to find them local.
i'm in nyc so there are a couple of places around here, i believe price is 45 and i hear very good reviews bout it.
So my last question is, with this i can be able to stream any audio that is played on my laptop to the headphones right? it's not going to be limited to windows media player or something like that. Winamp can work yea? gaming audio anything?
I have no clue what section this question would belong in. Mods, feel free to move this if there is a better place for it.
I haven't used my iPod since getting my first android, three androids ago. I do however have an iPod dock connected to my AV receiver at home, and a dock connector wired into my car. Has anyone figured out a way to use iPod accessories with their android? Ideally I wish I had the programming knowledge to emulate the iPod and have all the controls functional but that is way beyond what I'm capable of. I was thinking of getting a female dock connector and connecting a micro usb and 3.5mm audio jack so I could both charge and output audio through it. Also, what comes out of the MHL/USB on the Galaxy? Could I get analog audio from it so I would just have one usb cable to connect to charge and listen? Thoughts?
Come on... no one?
It -may- charge w/ the dock to micro usb adapter. That's pretty much it.
You won't get audio out of it, nor data more than likely (even power is up-in-the-air) simply because the system doesn't have the software to work with the connections made available w/ that adapter.
Edit: Also, you probably should've posted this in Q&A.
It would be pretty difficult to do something like that and would probably require building a device that would sit between the iPod dock and the Android phone.
It might be possible to do something like this. As long as your dock uses analog audio instead of usb audio like my car radio uses.
goo . gl / oeCYW Remove the spaces. I'm a new member and can't post links yet.
So you are saying you think it's looking to see if an ipod is connected before it looks for the audio coming out of it? I was under the assumption it was always ready for it since I need to first manually switch to the ipod input on the stereo... hmmm...

Nice. That's exactly what I was thinking of doing.
Well that link was encouraging enough that at least someone has gotten this to work. I went ahead and ordered a female dock connector from here http://aloaudio.com/30-female-dock-connector-with-wire-board.html. At worst I'm out $14.35. I'll update the thread with what I find out.
The dock connector arrived today. I haven't messed around with the one in my car but I did test the one on my AV receiver. Things I've learned:
1) If the receiver is on, there is a steady 4.9 volts available to charge my Galaxy.
2) There is some sort of check to see if an ipod is connected before it will switch to listen for audio on the input pins. I can actually hear a click of a relay when I connect my ipod that I do not hear with the wire connected.
3) I placed the ipod in the dock to get it to switch. I then I wired a headphone cable to the audio in pins of the dock. To my surprise I could play music from my Galaxy just fine.
If I could just figure out what it is looking for to know whether or not an ipod is connected, this should work just fine.
I just want to update this thread. I finally got around to messing with this again (yes 4 months later).
I have it working perfectly for audio in my car! As long as pins 1 & 2 are shorted it switches the head unit into iPod mode and audio gets sent to the speakers. Pins 2, 3, 4 are Ground, Right, and Left audio. I would record a video of it working but the only thing I have is my GN and I can't use it to play music and record video.
I gave up on my home theater receiver. There's power there to charge it but I can't figure out how to fool it to listen for the audio.
Y not just buy the ipod to universal Bluetooth adapter? That way the phone doesn't even have to be docked? Sprint sells it
I've been using this to play music through my old ipod fm transmitter, works great.

I may have to buy one of those for my Klipsch iFi speakers. I was thinking about getting the official dock from Expansys, running this audio cable to the iPod input, and adding some other stuff via NFC tag to make the setup sort of like Ford Sync in my car.
[Q]iPAQ bluetooth keyboard working with Galaxy Nexus?
Hi everybody:
I had a iPAQ BT foldable keyboard (SPP, no HID), and I wish it works on my Galaxy Nexus for daily use (when playing games, or typing with Chinese input methods).
I've tried some apps, and keyPro Demo works, but it gave me a new IME which only support English input. I wondered if anybody here give me some help. Thanks all!!
hey guys, I know this thread is a little outdated but there is another option to get audio and charging from the 30-pin apple connection. I personally haven't tried this but it looks like it could work:

I own an Audi Q5 and it can stream music from either iPod, USB or 3.5'' mm jack using a Media Link Cable. It sounds nice, but your device has be locked in the glove box!! So i decided to get this device from amazon - "http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0087XSV08/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i01". It streams music to your receiver via Bluetooth. I love this solution because i almost always use Google Map for my GPS navigation.
It works great because i have a Bose Sounddock with an iPod jack too.

I'm a little late to this party but I too am looking for a solution to convert my Klipsch iFi into a Bluetooth dock so we can use our Evo LTE's on it. I have a 1st gen iPod Nano on it but 2gb of music (the 4gb one we had died) just isn't getting it done. I also want the ability to run internet radio stations and playlists and what not. I bought about the cheapest iPod Bluetooth adapter available on eBay and was disappointed that it did not work. The LED on top wouldn't even light up to indicate it was getting power. They seller sent me another one and unfortunately it also does not work. The seller assured me that he tests every single one that is sent (uh huh, I believe you) so it would appear as though this particular adapter will not work. As soon as I can get a refund I will start going up the list as far as price goes. Just wonder if you were ever able to find a solution for your iFi to save me the effort of order several different adapters until I find one that works. I don't see why this one didn't work as the iFi should work just like every other iPod dock on the market as far as how it interfaces with the iPod/adapter.

This adapter you linked to looks exactly like the adapter I got from eBay but I only paid $15.99 w/free shipping. If anyone else is interested in trying out one of these types of adapters I would check eBay first. While mine didn't work for my iFi specifically the seller has good feedback so I would imagine it works for most. My issue is probably Klipsch iFi specific. I plan to order a different version from another seller for a few bucks more and can report back my findings if it works or not as another option but I wouldn't spend $40 for what looks exactly like what I paid $16 shipped for.
Ok so I saw this from the Xperia S board

Hi Guys
So after painstakingly reading through every message in this thread to ensure I do not paste a duplicate answer, I can inform you I have found the true problem regarding headphones.
Straight from the words of a Sony technician:
The cause of the incompatibility: Sony Xperia S supply 2V (Volts) purely from an energy consumption perspective. The microphone in the boundled Sony Mobile headset is Electret microphones that only require a 2V feed. For other suppliers (e.g. IPhones headsets) they can use MEMS microphones that require a minimum of 2,7V.
In order for fully compatibility, Sony smartphones need to supply a minimum of 2,7V. This requires a feature/HW change.
A feature/HW change has been submitted to be implemented in coming products.
So moral of the story is, Sony screwed us all...

Does this mean I can't use a mic similar to my X10? I tried using them earlier and I now know they dont work with my ION because Sony went with the CTIA format. So what do you guys use for a mic? I'm wanting to use a mic similar to the one that came with the X10, by that I mean I want to be able to plug in any earphones I want with the mic since earphones eventually break with one side not working. Thanks.
I'll check the ones I have. I have a set I got from my dell streak and the ones from my xperia s.

thanks because I use google hangouts with friends but the ion isn't exactly loud, even with xloud on
May not be exactly what you're looking for but I use Skullcandy Ink'd earbuds with the mic.
http://www.skullcandy.com/shop/headphones/earphones-and-earbuds/inkd
I've used these for probably the last 2 years, great sound quality, full refund too if they stop working, only thing I've had happen to mine were one of the buds stops working. Pretty durable for the price, I've only broken 1 pair from skateboarding/biking. Also most stores will carry them for $15 instead of $25 like listed on the site.
Tried the generic ones I got with my Dell Streak and they worked....gotta find my Xperia S headphones to try.
I think you should try out the Sony LiveSound Hi-Fi Headset, it cost a little bit of money but it sounds awesome! Comes with an in-line mic with built-in remote.
I personally use the Sony MW600 Stereo Bluetooth Headset, no wires extending to your phone in your pocket. just a short earbud wire that wraps around your neck. you can also disconnect the supplied wire and use a 3mm wire to plug into a stereo or your car's aux so you're completely hands free and the sound comes out of car's speakers.
Both of these are available on the Sony mobile online store, probably sold cheaper on amazon.
so the ION does support earphone's with mic and you guys have all tried out the mic ? sry for this question, I got my phone from best buy and so it didn't come with the earphones. Instead I've been using my earphones from my X10 and with the ION using the new standard and with the quote from my first post I was thinking that the ION didn't support the mic in earphone combo
I used the HTC buds that come with some of there WP7 devices. Worked like a charm.

From what I read, the LiveSound headset doesn't fully work on the 2012 Xperia phones. There's another pair called Smart headset that are fully compatible with the ion. They're basically the same set other than that.
I just ordered the MW600 headset, the design reminded me alot of the old Sony MiniDisc Walkman remotes. Seems really slick.
I have the Smart wireless headset pro MW1. They work great and the audio quality is awesome for music and calls.
I just didn't want to buy a pair that the ion wouldn't support, but I'll have to look and see which to get. I wan't the skullcandy ink'd 2 pair but idk if they'll work. time for some more research
I own an 06 Jetta GLI with the Premium 7 radio. I'm currently using a Dension Gateway iPod adapter which displays track/browsing info on the MFI in the gauge cluster. Full browsing is accomplished via the steering wheel controls. It's very nice, and seamless. Here's a link to a video of it in action for reference purposes

While searching around for something similar for Android devices, I happened upon an adapter from Grom Audio. They claim it displays track/browsing info as well as plays music over bluetooth. Has anyone tried or heard about these?
Here'a a link to the Grom Audio unit.

My main requirement is keeping the steering wheel controls, and existing head unit..
I have no affiliation with either of these companies.. Just trying to gather some info.
Thanks..
nothing new really, my 5 year old alpine just plugs into my phone via usb and finds the mp3s.. the newer units do it over bluetooth via an app, id be surprised if the modern oem radios didn't at least have usb connectivity
That's pretty neat. I have a 2013 Elantra and I can only stream the music at the radio. A readout of the artist, song name, etc, and the ability to fast forward with my wheel mounted controls would be nice.
Wow. That does look nice. I need to read more, but I do see my vehicle on the supported list. Kind of expensive, but if it works like it says, I might actually give it a shot.
Hey ddiehl,
I had a similar "issue" with my car.
I have an Ipod connector that I can control from the steering wheel.
So instead of using the ipod connector for an actual Ipod, I bought this bluetooth adapter:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ML-D100-Blu...513090?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item4abaea8b02
Bluetooth ML-D100 => It cost from $30 to $45
I connected to the the ipod interface and connected my phone to the bluetooth.
I works very well in my case, but i don't have the same car.
I have an IS-250 with FlyAudio 2 Stereo System.

Wow!
That's pretty cool actually. I was searching for something like that a few months back, but only came across this:
http://www.gtacarkits.com/
Works great for my iPod Video, but just has a line input for anything else. Kind of makes me want to sell that and get this, especially if I can integrate the iPod AND my S3 and control both with my steering wheel controls!!
I would be curious to know the sound quality of this adapter, using either the bluetooth, line-in and/or iPod connectivity options. I know there were a lot of debates on the Mazda 3 forum between the various adapters and the GTA Car Kit was the best of the lot in all of my reading. Granted, we could assume that since it plugs straight into the back of the headunit, it should be great but I am still skeptical.
Anyone willing to be the guinea pig, get one and report back??

My 2011 accord has usb, and but will only support Apple devices. My gs3 shows up as "unsupported". I also have a 3.5mm jack, but then I can't use the radio or steering wheel controls. This generation of Accords never had bluetooth audio, only voice.
I have tried bluetooth audio converters, and but they seem laggy and slow. The two (one was a blackberry, and can't remember the other) I tried, I returned.
I can load music to an usb stick, but there are no folders, just the song titles. This is annoying as my old iphone would let me sort by song, artist, album or play list. I drive a lot, and this is becoming very annoying. So much that I'm actually tempted to go buy the biggest gb ipod I can get, just to have easy accessibility to my digital library in my car.
So if someone has a solution that costs less than an ipod, and does not require me taking the dash apart, I'm all ears!

My Pioneer unit has a usb that was made specifically for ipod. When you plug it in it says unsupported, but still allows me to play the songs from my GS3. It also has Bluetooth though so its not really an issue for me.
I ended up buying a Parrot MKI9200. Bluetooth telephony and music streaming. It says it is made for iphone but works better with my S3 than it did with my old iphone 4.
http://www.parrot.com/usa/products/bluetooth-hands-free-car-kits/parrot-mki9200
Hi to the fantastic team of minds on XDA! I'm currently working through building a wireless charging/streaming dock with NFC for my Nexus 5, although the plan is to extend support to any device that supports Wireless Charging & NFC.
Basic concept is for use in a car, but could also be adapted for other situations easily. Basic operation is drop phone in charging area/cradle, NFC tag is read by phone and either launches the music player OR for me in my case, runs tasker to set volume max, play library on shuffle, launch GPS tracking for work/private mileage etc and the phone would stream audio to a receiver wired into the cars headunit.
NFC/Wireless charging.. piece of cake. Audio streaming... not so fun.
I would really like decent audio quality, not quite audiophile level but certainly at least as good as the 3.5mm line out from the headphone jack. Initially I disliked the idea of bluetooth due to quality however looking around I found some Bluetooth 4 APT-X enabled boards that seemed to fit the bill fairly well as apparently APT-X sounds much better in comparison to A2DP (haven't tried out for myself though). Only problem is the Nexus as well as a lot of other devices don't support APT-X. Other than bluetooth I'm really struggling to find a good quality wireless streaming standard that is fairly plug and play. I found a WiFi option via DTS using DLNA but the details on the receiving hardware are sketchy, it also doesn't seem very transparent (requires input from 3rd party apps etc).
I also found a few posts relating to Chromecast enabled media servers that will allow Play music to cast music to them, but again, can't really find any pre made WiFi enabled DLNA "dumb" servers designed to simply capture an audio stream. Again, not very transparent. Ideally it would work natively and without much 3rd party input.. although this may not be entirely possible so I'm open to all options.
So, what are my options? Also, why with Bluetooth 4 with the max bitrate of 20+mbps do we not have a high bit rate audio streaming profile/protocol?
I did consider the idea of a wired DAC, but the major plus on the cable free design is being able to just drop the phone in and grab it out without fiddling for cables. Also the Nexus 5 doesn't support USB DAC OOTB. I also had difficulty sourcing a DAC that would output acceptable audio (at least as good as the headphone jack) for a good price. Everything I found was either expensively high end or nasty & cheap. All I need is a bare board that gets stuffed into a cable box and works! I bought a cheap $5 DAC off ebay ages ago for testing. Worst mistake ever!!! Horrible sound, but hey it was $5
Thanks for any input!

If bluetooth sound qualitiy is too bad for you (for me its ok with my JVC radio) i think the aux cable is the only option. But if you have to plug in the cable the "just drop your phone"-concept is gone. I suggest trying to use the USB port for audio out (because aux input isnt a big deal for most of the cars) und charging at the same time. For the dock i think using the brodit docks is ok although these docks are expensive. Alternativly you could try to use a cheaper dock.
For USB audio out i think a cheap DAC like this should be fine, but you need the usb audio recorder pro app (see this thread). Next thing is charging at the same time. Maybe its possible to do it like this with an powered usb hub but you'll have to try that. Overall its more the developing of an USB aux output with the ability of charging but i think its the only option to get the audio qualitiy you want.
