I had this setup before, but I flashed a new ROM. Not the system sounds, I have that set to 0. I want the sound disabled when you plug/unplug the charge cable, and the sound when you reset the radio, like turning airplane mode off/on. Is there a way to flash something in CWM to kill it?

Phone enters fast-boot and recovery fine. Also flashed new hboot (which means nand is fine?) and installed new rom successfully however, any rom i try has this issue (screen will turn off but not on again -- but keys at the bottom will light-up toggle on/off when pressing power button or track-pad to wake -- but no display!)
Please please help,

What ROM are you using.
If using Sense ROM which required ext partition of SD card, your phone actually freezes up happens to me most of time.
Better try some AOSP roms like Cyanogenmod, Oxygen ROM etc.
edit. Never mind
Firstly, in recovery, do a FULL wipe (boot, system, data, cache, dalvic). Then reflash the rom, if it still doesn't work.. try this:
When the phone boots, go to dialler and press *#*#4636*#*# > Phone information > Turn off radio.
This is just to test the theory.
Now the phone should turn back on again. Yes?
Phone suffers from the deep sleep issue, happens sometimes. It's when the phone is switching between 2/3G networks, the phone goes into deep sleep for whatever reason. What you can do is set the phone so that it only uses 2 or 3G, or WCDMA (H), which should stop that from occurring.
What you can TRY to do is flash a radio (require S-OFF). Try 5.17, and see if that fixes it.
When I plug my phone into my a charger and it is charging my phone gets stuck into a bootloop where I can't turn it off nor turn it on. It wont even go to the Samsung logo, it just is black and keeps turning on/off. Only way I have to get around this is by unplugging, pulling battery, reboot recovery, plug back in, then I can reboot to system. Any ideas on a solution to this?

Don't try to power it on while plugged in. Ain't much else to suggest there. I find doing the button combo for download mode then pressing vol-dn at the warning screen works too. This is the normal it's not a bootloop. The way these charge w/ the power off is strange.

What recovery and rom are you using? This is not a normal behavior. It doesn't happen on my phone using Stock rom/TWRP recovery.

That's weird as I'm on my 5th s3 since 6-21 and this has been normal behavior on every one regardless of rom. The S2 did the same stupid shiit. Its almost impossible to turn these on while plugged in and shut off.

I usually use freeg3 from Clark, but I flash about every ROM when they are updated to try it out; I use TWRP to flash them all. My phone is infected with anthrax, but It was before and after it. I even tried flashing the stock .tar from odin :/
When the screen is black, simply hold the power button in until you see the Samsung logo.

I just confirmed again that my phone doesn't do that. With the phone on, I plugged into the charger. Power off, wait until the green battery icon appears. Hold power button, phone boots normally.
I'd guess somewhere along the way you acquired a wonky bootloader. You could probably try just replacing the bootloader, I know there is a way to do that but I'm not sure how. Probably someone else could quote the procedure off the top of their head. If not, I would guess a full odin to stock would fix it also.
My phone does this too. Sometimes it shows a charging battery, sometimes it vibrates, and sometimes I even see the Samsung logo, but it always refuses to turn on while it is plugged up.
My phone doesn't do this. It looks to be a hit or miss on if your phone will do it.

Or it could have to do with a particular flash that has corrupted the boot loader. People need to be clear what roms they are on, and if they have ever tried to go back to FULL stock through Odin to fix this. Until they have reflashed the Stock Bootloader, there is no way to know what's going on.

I don't understand what exactly you are asking here.
1) What exactly you mean by telling "I turn the phone into fastboot mode returns!"?
Do you mean when you turn it into fastboot mode it reboots??
2) What exactly do you mean by telling "when I reset my phone"??
Did you make a factory reset when you was booted into safemode?
3) Anyway, what is the proccess you followed to root your phone and did you have this problem before you try to root it??
A flash of a factory RUU could get solve your problem but I would suggest you to S-OFF your device and reflash it as long as you are already rooted.
So I had root and Xposed working fine. I decided to do some more theming, and put on Layers. I tried applying the Inversion UI layer to my phone, dialer, and contacts and used the built in reboot option only to have my phone boot into safe mode. I tried manually rebooting and it's still safe mode. I tried clearing data and uninstalling Layers and Inversion UI, but still safe mode. Anything I can do? I can't seem to get the boot menu to come up to boot into recovery either, though I don't think I ever could. I've also tried the notification that lets me tap to turn off safe mode, but it still boots into safe mode. Theoretically I could just reflash it, but was hoping there was a simpler option to try first. Really wish LG allowed unlocking the bootloader on US versions so I could use nandroid...
I think therez a special way to leave safe mode
Nm i just double checked says u should jst have to reboot.

I had tried rebooting multiple times. The special way to leave safe mode exists, clicking the notification, but it would boot into safe mode again. Oddly enough, it stayed in safe mode even after I flashed a stock kdz, but after doing that a second time I was able to leave safe mode by clicking the notification.
Thats weird
Hello, after dirty flashing Jaguar 8.1 latest version I've noticed the battery indicator wouldn't decrease, stuck at 98%. So I did a reset, and after that the screen didn't turn on anymore. Tried keeping power pressed, vol + or - and power, nothing would produce a thing... No vibrate, no led indicator, nothing. The only think working is Windows making that noise when you connect a device to usb (phone cable). I've tried re-flashing stock rom with qfil and it worked (it seems the phone is in the download mode for recovery), but nothing changed, screen still doesn't pop up... I am desperate, since I've tought that after a QFIL flash there was no way it wouldn't come back to live... but it didn't !!!!
Any help is welcome!
SOLVED: opened the back cover and disconnected the battery. Now I will have to reinstall everything just because of this damn bug... I really hate this... but at least I didn't loose my phone.
