My bravo works perfect 'cept when i turn the screen off and try to turn it back on again using power button. the keys light up at the bottom but not the display :<
My toddler attacked a floor with it.
Any ideas most appreciated...
Phone enters fast-boot and recovery fine. Also flashed new hboot (which means nand is fine?) and installed new rom successfully however, any rom i try has this issue (screen will turn off but not on again -- but keys at the bottom will light-up toggle on/off when pressing power button or track-pad to wake -- but no display!)
Please please help,
Ty
What ROM are you using.
If using Sense ROM which required ext partition of SD card, your phone actually freezes up happens to me most of time.
Better try some AOSP roms like Cyanogenmod, Oxygen ROM etc.
edit. Never mind
Firstly, in recovery, do a FULL wipe (boot, system, data, cache, dalvic). Then reflash the rom, if it still doesn't work.. try this:
When the phone boots, go to dialler and press *#*#4636*#*# > Phone information > Turn off radio.
This is just to test the theory.
Now the phone should turn back on again. Yes?
Phone suffers from the deep sleep issue, happens sometimes. It's when the phone is switching between 2/3G networks, the phone goes into deep sleep for whatever reason. What you can do is set the phone so that it only uses 2 or 3G, or WCDMA (H), which should stop that from occurring.
What you can TRY to do is flash a radio (require S-OFF). Try 5.17, and see if that fixes it.

Just had the same problem :S
Running stock 1.34 ROM with ClockwordMod (latest version in ROM Manager)
A normal reboot worked but it still scared me for a bit
To get to the bootloader (and from there you can get to recovery) you need to press power + vol DOWN.
I'm sure it didn't permanently mess up something, your phone should be fine. As to what happened, I don't have a clue, weird thinhs can happen to the phones at times
If you have USB-Debugging turned on, then the DHD creats a logfile in /sdcard/logs, while rebooting and holding VOL-Down.
This is normal, and the vibration is a recognize for this action.
Creating this log file needs some time... > some minutes.

My wifi keeps turning off after every half hour or so if I'm not using the phone. Iv tried changing kernels and Roma and yet the same problem comes back after about a week after installing a new rom. I've since downloaded a radio from here and tried installing from zip via recovery but it just says error in installation. Any idea where I'm going wrong ?
Last i checked (which was a while back) you can not flash a radio via recovery, it has to be done via ADB or PD98.zip. The topic from where you got the radio should have stated this.
Also more to the point of your original problem, have you tried looking in wifi settings to see if it has a sleep policy enabled or not ?
Settings>Wifi>(Press menu and Select Advanced) and there will be a tab that says something along the lines of "Keep wifi on During Sleep" and select "always".
Ha, never knew there was an advanced option. Why would it be on sleep after 15 minutes on default ? Thanks very much, that should fix that problem. I'm still having a few problems that is not changing with switching roms or kernels, such as having to press back about four times on dolphin browser before it actually returns to previous page, and slow rotate, slow performance, weak network signal etc, etc. Really think I could benefit from using a radio that actually matches the Rom I'm using.only issue is I have no volume button as it's fallen off so if I ever need to recover should anything go wrong, I won't be able to.

You will still be able to enter recovery ect and make you backups flash roms, by installing the clockwork recovery app from the play store, and boot to recovery that way, which if your volume is broke i am assuming that is how you are booting in to recovery either that or you have a rom which has that option attached to the power button, but you are right about the fact if you ever encounter a problem or boot loop.
You may want to get a replacement power rocker from ebay or that, either that if someone knows how to enter recovery with out a volume button which in a boot loop.
hi guys.
i had an accident with my bike on sunday and my phone seems to be f*cked since then. but let me explain:
well i had an accident and somehow fell on my phone, now there is bump in the plastic backcover and in the sd card slot underneath. it is quite deep, maybe 1.5mm. soon after that i realised that my phone is no longer connecting to mobile networks, the baseband is unknown, just like the imei. also the power/lockscreen button isn't working anymore as long as the phone is turned on (it works to turn it on or to access recovery/download mode. i was running jellybam 9.2.0 for weeks without any problem.
so after that i got home i first did a fullwipe and a reinstall of jellybam -> still same problem.
then i tried to enter download mode. i got to the "press volume up to continue, press volume down to restart"-screen and i pressed volume up -> nothing happend
so i went into cwm -> advanced (i think) -> restart bootloader. so now i was in download mode (the proper download mode)
at this point i thought it was a pure hardware problem because my wifi appeared to be not working too. i also thought that i might be able to claim warranty so i installed the N7100XXDMB2 firmware from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32273406&postcount=5
my wifi seems to be working now so i thought that i could just restore my EFS backup and it might all be fine again (except the bump) but i would have to root my phone to be able to do that and like mentioned before the download mode only works to a certian very useless point.
also i now have the stock recovery, which i can enter, but i can't select anything in there because my power button won't work.
to put it all in a nutshell: i have unknown baseband, unknown imei, a power button that stops working as soon as the device is turned on and also doesn't work in stock recovery, a volume up button that doesn't want me to access the download mode, an EFS backup which i'm unable to restore, no clue if it is a hardware or software problem and severe depression.
the attached picture shows where the bump is. it is quite deep, like mentioned before. made the sd slot completly unuseable.
i'm desperate, please help.
also: i was using the phone (making calls, internet) a few minutes before the bike accident
Well, if you're back to stock and you can claim warranty, then that's the best option.

I wasn't sure if I need to add reply to one of the topic or have similar topics. So I am creating new thread.
Hello,I have wind S3 T999V.
Before, the phone did not reboot constantly. It is just few days ago, the phone is reboot constantly.
There is enough battery and I did not click on power button to turned off the phone.
Sometimes, if I am in browsing or open the app, it sometimes turned itself off. Also, sometimes, when I click the power button, the menu interfaces for turn off, reboot come out several times and go turned off itself instantly. Then when I need to turned on again, it reboots several times stuck in boot menu and the phone is on.
So, what I did is since this is rooted phone, I backup my rom, clear cache/data, and install 4.3 Touchwiz StockMod custom rom with 4.3 modems. At first, I thought the problem has solved. After restore apps and used for few hours, the phone now has same problem again. At this points, I am thinking it may be phone itself has problem.
What steps should I need to try out?
Please do Factory Reset. Do Not restore any apps or install any either. See if the problem repeats.
I tried leave my phone with factory reset and no apps for overnight. Also, I am in safe mode for the phone.
Actually, with no apps and factory reset, I think it does randomly shut down as well.
However, as I play with power button, sometimes, the screen does not shut down and turned on twice or sometimes, power options prompt come out.
Your Power button is likely defective or broken. I suggest have it looked at in a service center.
Well, i wanted to restore my backed up rom, i went to twrp and restored the rom without wiping data, dalvik cache ect. it went to boot loop saying " setup wizard stopped " after reaching lockscreen and went booting again.. then i found a way to go to recovery again, i wiped the cache and stuff and restored the same back up and the same problem now no change, now i cant go inside custom recovery whatever i try.. :/ . will i be able to go to recovery after the battery is drained?
or u know a method to go inside recovery?
Have you tried holding the volume down button down when the screen goes blank? This will get you into the bootloader. You can also hold power and volume up and when the screen goes blank hold volume down only.

How long did you hold it for? You have to hold the buttons for a good ten seconds or so. You're saying the screen never goes black for a few seconds between loops?

thank u, it worked but now when i flash there is no on screen buttons and notifications at all and im stuck with 1 rom :/
the computer does not recognize my device as "on" itself!!
what to do plz help
Connect SD card reader to your computer and use it to put a ROM on removable SD. Insert the SD into the phone, and flash the ROM from recovery.
I also just came over this problem,
I've been using TWRP on all my phones for years and constantly flashing/restoring various roms.
Did I do something wrong?
I backed up using the default options and restored the same way as I always do but I had the same issue.

Make sure you firmware corresponds to the nandroid you are trying to restore.
But if they do match (correct firmware for the ROM being restored) it might just be a random thing. TWRP on this (and other recent devices like my Sammy Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4) seems a little less reliable than in the past. As long as your TWRP version is up to date, there isn't much else you can do. Except maybe keep a few different nandroids (probably on your computer, since they take so much space) in case the most recent one doesn't restore correctly.
Thanks for the reply. I also tried installing the exact same ROM again and set it up, then tried to restore but still the same problem. Thanks anyway I'll maybe try another backup and delete the old one. Thanks again
If you're restoring a ROM through the TWRP restore function make sure you always wipe always wipe data and system before restoring unless you're only restoring data or just system itself. Then only wipe that certain parition. But never restore a backup of another ROM base onto a different base without installing the ROM you are restoring first. That will cause a lot of issues, constant FC, and bootloop.
