So, here's where i'm at now after this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=732505
I still cannot use any usb functionality other than charging, and i'm running unrooted OTA1.47 now.
I'm at the point where i'm needing to get the AmonRa recovery off and the factory recovery back in place, but i can't find out how to do it.
I see a few posts that say to run the ruu, but that involves running the exe while the phone is connected to a windows workstation through usb. With no USB functionality, i'm kind of at a loss on how to proceed.
Any assistance or direction pointing would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: Fixed it.
Using the RUU for 1.47 worked.
I had to open it, then on the first page select "View Readme", then "Save As" for the read me to figure out what directory the temp files went to and what they were named. Looked for rom.zip, copied to my sd card as PC36img.zip. After that, powered on using Power Button and Down volume and let the phone do the rest.
Grabbed the RUU link from here: http://www.shipped-roms.com/shipped/Supersonic/
If you have a card reader/adapter, use your sdcard with the reader and plug it into your pc. Download and move the zip to the card, more specifically the PC36IMG.zip file. Pu the sdcard back in to your phone. Hold Vol up and power the phone, and let it load the zip file.
Isn't that still a rooted rom?
I actually loaded a 1.47 stock rom, using the PC36IMG.zip way of doing it. It didn't return me to the factory screen after selecting Recovery, and still loaded the AmonRa one.
I'll try that with that specific file next. I'm downloading RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.6_Radio_1.39.00.05.31_release_171253_signed.exe right now to try and extract the factory rom and try that way.
Bump. Still haven't found a way.
When you hold volume down and press power, before you select recovery check on the top and see what version of hboot you have. If you have .76 that means you unlocked the nand and from my understanding this is not reversible yet.

.79 right now i believe.
All you would need then is a copy of the stock recovery and flash it and that will replace AmonRA. I may have been wrong about un-rooting after unlocking nand. Check out this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6783326

I went through that one, downloaded the ruu, ran it, browsed to my temp files for the zip image, put it on the phone, and received the "older version" error when it tried to read and flash it via renaming it to PC36img.zip
I'm trying to find the 1.47 RUU to try those same steps, but haven't had much luck.
Of course, i'm trying to work and browse the forum at the same time, might not be the best plan. lol
Just found it.
Downloading the 1.47 RUU now. Hopefully this can take care of putting the recovery back to oem.
Good luck and please post results. I am interested in this as well in case I ever have to do it for insurance purposes.

Please help, I think I bricked my Incredible and would appreciate any help or suggestions. I used unrevoked3 to root and flash the cynogenmod 6 nightly rom and then the google apps. Today i downloaded v3.1 of unrevoked to update my phone to a newer rom. I downloaded and installed the drivers but when I went to use unrevoked it would just reboot my phone and get stuck on the message "flashing recovery, do not touch phone" and never change, but my phone was just rebooted and working normal. So in the process of trouble shooting the problem I did a hard reset on the phone to see if it would help using a fresh clean rom. But when I went to reboot the phone, it got stuck in a boot loop. So now, my phone wont turn on all the way and I cant get to the recovery screen using unrevoked to utilize my nand backup that I had made. any help would be very appreciated!

Have you tried this?
While the phone is turned OFF, press and hold the VOL DOWN key and then press and hold the POWER button... (So, you should have VOL DOWN + POWER BUTTON held down) and wait until it boots into HBOOT.
In HBOOT, you should have 4 options: FASTBOOT, RECOVERY, CLEAR STORAGE, SIMLOCK.

You do realize that you don't use unrevoked to flash ROMs, right? For that, you either boot into CWM Recovery or use ROM Manager.
Yea, but nothing in the hboot menu seems to do anything useful. I just end up back into the reboot loop. Unless you know any tricks in that menu?

Yea, download the ruu, extract the rom.zip from it, rename to PB31IMG.zip and toss on sd card. Your phone will go back to it's factory shipped state.

the unrevoked tool is only to establish root and INSTALL the recovery, not to actually run it for you. to get into recovery you just turn the phone off, then hold volume down + power until it gets to the bootloader, then you just press volume down to highlight recovery and press power to select it. this brings up the recovery. (or download Quick Boot from the market which can automatically reboot your phone in recovery for you.)

Best trick I know of is this awesome hackers megamart called Walmart which will sell you a excellent hacking device capable of reading sd cards from your pc... I think they call it a sd card reader...

/sigh. when the phone is off, you hold volume down + power and it opens the bootloader screen. the options are:
1)fastboot
2)recovery
other options...
by default, fastboot is highlighted. therefore, if you press volume down once, it highlights the recovery option. pressing power after that selects it. this will open up the recovery.

yes, this would be your last resort if for some reason the recovery doesnt run. this way you can put the pb31img.zip onto your sd card so that when you get into the bootloader it will automatically find the zip and begin running on its own.

Yeah, you simply need a SD card or microSD card reader--Walmart, Best Buy, your local corner store probably have 'em.
If you decide to get a SD card reader, make sure you have the microSD to SD card adapter (usually comes with the purchase of a microSD card).

got it. then your only option is to either get an micro sd card reader or borrow a friends phone that has a microsd slot so you can somehow get your sd card connected to your pc to put the pb31img on it, then put the card back in your phone and get into the bootloader. from there the phone will walk you through it. then, only run the unrevoked tool ONCE.

nah. just put the file on the root of the card, put it back in your incredible and boot into the bootloader.
Pull battery then put it back in
Hold volume down and power till it boots.
Hit volume down to highlight recovery
Hit power
Hook your phone up to your pc
On phone go to ( partitions ) with optical mouse
Press mouse (enter)
Go to the bottom and mount USBsdcard
On computer copy the .zip you need on the card.
Unmount card on phone
Then reboot in recovery and apply the file by selecting yes.
Hope this helps.

I wanted to get me some custom ROMS, but it finished badly.
Now I did it
I rooted desire with Unrevoked. It went without problems, this means no errors or something visible, Desire worked after that without problem.
Then I created CD for AlphaRev 1.5, rebooted PC and started process to get S-OFF.
I needed to confirm SuperUser on Desire. Unfortunatelly, it said after step 3, that procedure didn't finish correctly. My HTC stuck on HTC logo screen, and it throws 2 black lines on it. Pulled out battery and everything, but it doesn't help.
Now I can get to Recovery mode with power+down buttons, but what to do now. It doesn't reboot at all.
I have correct RUU exe file for my HTC, but when I start it, it doesn't recognise Desire. Please, any help what to do?
Regards,
Sandi
Extract the rom.zip from the ruu and rename it to PB99IMG.zip, then place to the root of the sd card (use a card reader or another phone), load bootloader and wait for it to flash.

Sorry for ma stupidity, but how can I do that? Thank you,
Sandi
When you open the ruu via Windows (only to the Welcome screen), go to Start > Run and type in %Temp%, hit enter. You should then see a rom.zip file, extract from here and rename it to PB99IMG.zip (not PB99IMG.zip.zip) and place it to the root of your sd card. Then power off your phone and load bootloader (hold down vol down key and press power button once). When in bootloader screen, take your finger off the vol down button and wait for it to flash.

You don't open the zip file, just copy it to your Desktop, for instance, and then rename it to PB99IMG.zip. After renaming it, place it to the root of the SD card, unmount the sd card and then turn off your phone. Turn it back on with the vol down button held until you enter bootloader and then sit back and watch it do its thing.
Thank you a lot, today I did what you told me:
- Unrevoked with AmonRa
- extract ZIP from RUU
- copied ZIP to SD as PB99IMG.ZIP
and it went back to normal.
Best regards,
Sandi
my phone was bricked giving vibrations with volume + power buttons after a failed try of updating RUU via computer.
then i give phone to a person, he repaired the phone somehow, now when i press the power button, a while screen with htc logo appears, and if i press volume down + power, it goes to HBOOT with following information given
MARVEL PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-0.90000
MICROP-0451
RADIO-7.46.35.08
it also gives the option "SIMLOCK, FASTBOOT, RECOVERY, CLEAR STORAGE"
plz help me how can i get it to working condition again.
the person who repaired its boot said he is unable to flash it.. i don't understand what it means.. so i came to xda for solution
Is it possible to update via RUU with S-ON?
RUU says the phone is not connected to PC when i try to update it. it is detected in device manager as Android 1.0 when in Hboot
you should be able to get it going again as long as you have an sd card and some patience
ok first off follow this guide https://sites.google.com/site/androidbyyorzua/home/tutorials/extracting-rom-files-from-htc-ruu
ok now that you have your rom.zip rename it to PG76IMG.zip
then place it onto the root of your sd card. (the root of the sd card is the first screen you come to when you access the sd card on the computer/phone ect ect ect.)
then boot the phone with volume down + power.
the phone will find the pg76img.zip and and ask to update.
push volume up.
let it do its business and hopefully it will fix your phone.
bear in mind this implies that you have the correct ruu. and more importantly the correct cid. but if it wont update it the phone should give out an error code
good luck and post back

when i power it on using volume down + power button, it goes to HBOOT menu and do not give any option to install the file..
is the hboot of the ruu lower than your current hboot? if so this wont work. and does the hboot even search the sdcard?
I am hoping someone can help me. My boyfriend recently had his HTC Evo for Sprint rooted to Boost mobile. It was rooted to Syneagy Rom. Things started going wrong for instance, icons disappearing, sound and ringer stopped working, etc. So he was informed he could just reset the phone and things would start working. I tried to do a factory reset both on the rom and on the phone itself. Nothing happened still rooted with more issues. So, I downloaded the free rom software from the android market and in the android magazine they tell you how to install a custom rom. I tried Cyanogen. Everything was fine til it rebooted then I got stuck with the white logo Htc Evo screen. I tried to connect to the pc but wont recognize anything, also tried to download files to my sd card and do the bootloader but no such luck. Any thoughts or ideas, on how I can get this phone to work again even if it means unrooting. Thanks!
Give us the specs of the phone.

How it was rooted (unrevoked, revolutionary, bootloader unlock)
Then we can try to help. I already have a slight idea as to what went on

Start by turning your phone off. Then, press the volume down button, and then press and hold the power button, as you did above. Let the bootloader boot up, and then use the volume keys to move up and down to the recovery option. Then press the power button. The phone will boot into recovery mode. You should see an option that says 'Wipe Menu', or something along those lines. Use the volume keys to change the selection, then use the power button to select it. Select Dalvik cache, and use the power button to confirm that you want to wipe it. Then select data, and wipe it, also. At this point, back out of that menu and reboot the phone and see if the phone will boot up. If it does, you're all set. If not, I'd try flashing the ROM again from the recovery menu. Also, once you get things going, I'd dump ClockworkMod recovery and install Smelkus. Here's the link:

Okay thanks FinZ and death by soap for your help. Appreciate it. I followed your instructions but will still not boot. Is there any chance you could give me step by step instructions on how to flash a rom. I feel like a newbie. I just want to make sure I am doing it right. Thanks!
Download this ROM to the root of your SD card (not in any folders):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671395
You can download it via recovery, by selecting USB-MS (it may say Mount USB storage, instead) and turning it on. You can also remove the card from the phone and place it in a card reader and hook it up to your computer. If you downloaded the file via recovery, select USB-MS and turn it back off before you go any further once the ROM has downloaded. Boot your phone into recovery mode and follow the wipe instructions I listed above. Then, choose the option to 'Flash .zip file from SD Card' (or whatever it is in ClockworkMod-I can't remember). Find the ROM you downloaded and use the power button to make your selection. When it's done installing, go back to the wipe menu and wipe everything as you did before. Then, back out to the main menu and reboot the phone. Hopefully the phone boots into the ROM
I still also recommend changing recoveries, but for now, let's worry about getting the phone to boot into the ROM, and we'll worry about that later.

Not a problem. Just install the ROM as previously stated, then flash it from recovery. We can worry about formatting the card once we get the phone running properly.
Now that I think about it, though, I wonder if the SD card being wiped is part of the problem here? Just try and flash the ROM, and we'll go from there.

Do you think I am better off buying another phone? I am wondering if this phone is just corrupt. Had issues from the time I had it rooted.
Sounds like an issue with the SD card, not the phone itself.
One more thing to try without changing cards out. Rename the file on the card PC36IMG.zip (make sure there is no extra .zip extension on it or this won't work). Make sure the file is on the card, and turn the phone off. Load into the bootloader by pressing volume down+power. After a few seconds, you should be prompted as to whether or not you wish to install the update. Use the volume keys to move up and down, and use the power button to make your selection. If successful, the new ROM will load and you can reboot your phone. If not, we may need to look at swapping SD cards.
