I Have ClockworkMod Recovery v3.2.0.0 at my wildfire and I can flash only Android 2.3....Which Recovery I must flash to flash any rom(2.1,2.2,2.3)????????
Get ROM manager, which will install 2.5 along side 3.2.
To get to 2.5 select Reboot into Recovery from ROM manager
oh thanks!i'll go right now to rom manager....2,5 is better than 3,2?
2.5 does not allow offmode charging

Ok thanks! one more thing i must press "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" Or "Reboot into Recovery" at Rom Manager ??
First flash then reboot.
Ok do you have any link to download 2,5 ClockworkMod Recovery??
Download ROM manager and it should be there for you to download
i had wifi off thanks again my friend!
is 2.5 temporary??
Anyone got a link to v3.2 of the recovery? I can only see v3.1.0.2.
Edit: NVM, I found v4.0.0.2

No, but, obviously if you remove ROM Manager / Format SD Card, it will be gone. But, you will have to access 2.5 via ROM Manager everytime. Essentially, you get both 2.x and 3.x by following this.

Greetings XDA-guys!
First of all, thanks for all the useful work to tweak Android and support!
I got a few Problems with Rom Manager, no idea left to handle it.
What I've done so far:
Device is rooted, ENG-OFF and HBOOT.
I Installed Rom Manager from Market and flashed 2.5.1.3 of Clockworkmod via fastboot utility.
Clockwork mod was correctly working and shows up in Rom Manager also.
I partitioned the SD via Rom Manager.
I installed Cyanogen 6.
I updated Clockwork to 3.0.0.5 (ace image) via fastboot tool.
I installed Cyanogen 7 (nightly) via Rom Manager.
Actual problems:
1) Rom Manager shows only Cyanogen Roms, nothing more. (Tested with Revolution HD, same problem). This problem persists any time.
2) Rom Manager still shows Clockworkmod 2.5.1.3, but 3.0.0.5 is definitly flashed. I can clearly boot into Clockworkmod 3.0.0.5.
I have really no more ideas left to figure out what happens with Rom Manager. If anyone of you have an idea, please _tell me_
Thanks in advance!
1. D'ont know
2. It's okay

1) Get Premium if you want to see other ROM's
2) Flash official 3.0.0.5 via ROM manager, just become available and problem is gone. it was due to no 3.0.0.5 officially available so it identified as latest .
i face the same br. while im flashing DHD Ar Rom before i do i already updated my rom manger to v 3.0.0.5 after that i try to flash the rom when everything done the DHD stuck on the whit htc screen .
the only thing that help me to resolve the br. is going back to recovery screen then doing full wipe even for sd then removing batt , back the batt aging and going back to recovery screen as usual pressing volume down with power after skiping fastboot screen i enter recovery screen mount storge card the in ur pc rename the rom that u want to flash it to PD98IMG.zip then send it to sd card and remove the cable and batt ,return back the batt.then turn the power on while pressing volume down to enter fast boot screen /the device will search and install the rom auto..
without any other steps.
i hope that help other who fill down with the new update for rom mang.

Hi i followed the xda wiki guide to root my phone and it said to push clockwork recovery img 3.0.2.4. so when i go to the clock work menu, it says 3.0.2.4. i have downloaded the latest rom manager on my phone which is version 4.3.2.4. im wondering if i need to reflash the latest clockwork onto my phone again or can i just leave it as is?
I don't quite understand your post -- according to ROM Manager, the latest CWM recovery is v3.0.2.4...
but when i go to rom manager it says i need to flash clockwork recovery mod even though i already have the clockwork recovery menu. should i just reflash it?
The latest official ClockworkMod Recovery is 3.0.2.4. The very latest UNOFFICIAL CWM recovery image is 3.1.0.1 (check my signature), and that brought back sd-ext support (and is needed for the latest PyroMod ROMs).
ok thanks but should i just clik flash clockwork mod recovery? i already have it when i installed it during the root process. if i click flash clockwork mod recovery will it screw up because i already have it?

No it won't mess anything up to flash it again via rom manager. What color is the text in the cwr you have right now? Is it orange?

If it says "CWM must be installed" or words to that extent, just hit the option at the very top of ROM Manager and follow all prompts. That will install 3.0.2.4 to your phone. If you want to install the current official Froyo build, scroll down and install the 2.5.1* recoveries.
yes its orange text
also it says my phone model is G2. is that ok even though its the DZ?
ok i got clockwork recovery to work. im going to install virtuous unity on my phone. do i just place the .zip folder in the root of my sd and then boot into clock work recovery to install? also do i need any new kernals for the virtuous unity rom or can i just use the stock kernal?

Just place the zip in the root of your sd card, fire up CWM and follow normal flashing procedure:
1. NANDroid back up
2. Wipe Cache, Davlik, Data, Battery Stats
3. Install from zip
4. Reboot phone after first boot
I believe Unity comes with an OCable kernel up to 1.5GHz. They do not recommend you use SetCPU or CPUTuner as the built in daemon reacts faster than those apps.

Just put the .zip file onto the root of the SD, and flash from ROM Manager. All custom ROMs come with kernels. You only need to flash a kernel if you want to add different overclock options, CPU governors, or to try to clear up a specific issue. The kernel included with Unity works just fine.

Hi
I root my HTC EVO about 2 weeks ago. When Unrevok ask me to install the custom recovery I answer yes (CWM V4.0.1.4). Everything went great. After that I download the Rom Manager App to manage my backups.
On the Rom Manager App when I press on "Backup Current Rom" I get this prompt "You must have ClockworkMod Recovery installed before continuing!. Install the recovery though Rom Manager First".
It is safe to install the ClockworkMod Recovery even do I have CWM V4.0.1.4 ?
Thanks in advance.
Yes, rom manager will just re-flash it to the latest version.

Amon-Ra vs. CWM
Is it really that much better? I kinda like the ROM manager that came with my CM7 Rom, and I know that prefers CWM.
Or do yourself a bigger favor and install twrp.

ROM Manager has a history of not being as efficient as it promises and making mistakes in backups. It also will not do a correct wipe of your system before flashing a new ROM, which creates problems, potentially, with FC's, etc...

TWRP is not there yet. They lack the wipe boot feature which will screw up alot of ROM installs. Ra Recovery is still the way to go, plus all ROMS that have issues flashing in CWM have issues in TWRP. Once TeamWin fixes the major issues with TWRP then it will be the recovery to use. Presently it is still flawed.
If I have ROM manager can I just download and flash RA Recovery over that without having to flash the PC36IMG.zip? I'm new to this so I just want to make sure I'm doing this right.

If you have the android sdk installed on your system just boot to your bootloader and select fastboot. Then place the file in .img format in your android-sdk-windows\tools directory then rename the file to something shorter, I usually go with amonra.img. then navigate to that directory with cmd. Then type fastboot flash recover amonra.img this will flash the new recovery. However if you don't have the sdk installed then you will need the pc36img.zip format place it on the root if your sdcard and reboot the phone while holding power+vol up. The bootloader should detect the file and ask if you wish to apply the update. Press vol up to accept the update, and it will flash the new recovery. Now once you do this you will need to make all new backups because any backup made with CWM will not work with ra recovery.

During the summer I rooted my phone and i have Clockworkmod v2.5.0.7 installed.
I am trying to upgrade to the latest version and it never seems to stick.
Using Rom manager. It says that im flashed to v5.0.2.0 yet when i boot to recovery from rom manager it loads to v2.5.0.7. Does the same thing if i choose to flash a rom though ROM MANAGER. each time v2XXX loads
So i fire up recover and try loading the zip. Bingo it works. The screen turns from green to blue and V5.0.2.0 is now there for me to use. But if i reboot and later return to recovery its back to the old V2xxxx..
Any ideas why this is happening? Is it really necessary to move on to the V5xxxx versions? I was going to try out some new roms and they failed to load yesterday through v2.5.0.7 yet the rom i had been using loaded fine.
Thanks in advance..
When you use Rom Manager to flash a rom or reboot into recovery from Rom Manager, it boots the recovery from a downloaded recovery file. It's known as fake flash or in other words, it's temporary. If you want a permanent recovery, you would need to flash a recovery.img through fastboot.

revolutionary.io will upgrade cwm if you want
I think this thread answers one of my own questions but will ask it anyway to confirm; when I rooted my Desire (via Unrevoked) a few months back, the ROM Manager app that continues to be updated via the market offers the option to upgrade the version of CWM... is it OK to proceed with this?
I've been wary of upgrading from the version installed via the rooting process, just in case, but seeing this thread has made me think there isn't actually an issue with whatever version of recovery you have installed?

Out of curiosity - what roms you tried to load? As far as I know 2.5.0.7 was the last cwm supporting both amend and edify scripting and it never failed for me personally.
To upgrade recovery (or hboots) I always use Fastboot Commander and it's very easy to use and never let me down.

I agree. Unless you need to maintain an ext 4 partition (as 2.5.0.7 converts it to lower apparently when backing up) I see no reason to change from 2.5.0.7.
I use it even today. Best recovery IMHO.
Hi,
When I flashed my HTC One X with Android Revolution HD I installed ClockworkMod manually via flashboot.
Now I installed RomManager app (bought it actually) and there also I installed ClockworkMod. Could you please explain what is my system scenario? Do I have two versions of ClockworkMod now ? Also I flashed touch version of ClockworkMod when I did manually. Now its asking me to upgrade to touch version inside RomManager.
I am confused on what state my system is. Do I have to versions of ClockworkMod now? One without touch which I installed via RomManager and one with touch which I flashed manually.
Kindly help me with above queries.

Does this mean when I installed RomManager it overwrote the recovery I installed first ?
This is the recovery I installed with flashboot recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.0-endeavoru.img.
But when I boot into recovery, I do have touch. So where does the clockworkmod I installed via RomManager sit?

I downloaded RomManager and also did "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery".
But I also clicked manually Flash Override. That was before I did "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery".
