Basically it does the following:
1) Call erase_image on CACHE, SYSTEM, USERDATA, and BOOT partitions
2) Mount /sd-ext (if it exists) and delete all files from it
3) Delete all files in the /sdcard/.android_secure directory which is where all the froyo apps2sd files live
4) Run e2fsck (file system repair) on the your ext partition
5) Log all output to the /tmp/wipe.log file (if you care)
You will need to power off and reboot back into recovery after running this to install a new rom....as you won't have one on device
If you forget and try to boot normally you will get stuck at splash screen, then you will have to pull battery to power off.

It should be fine, I've been using it on my Desire Z without issue.

It does the same thing "Factory Reset" does in Blah's unofficial CWM Recovery 3.1.0.1: DELETE F***ING EVERYTHING

[Q] Downgrading Clockwork Mod, HBOOT not having it

Hey guys,
Okay so here's the schtick:
I've got Incredibly Re-Engineered Z 1.01 installed (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=983182, "The Blue One"). I like it about 80% of the way, but it's giving me issues, so I planned on going back to either regular -Re-Engineered 2.3.2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893233, "The Green One")or SkyRaider 3.5. The issue is that neither of them will install with Clockwork Mod 3.0.0.8. Perusing the forums told me to downgrade to 2.5.1.2. Fine. Looked around, downloaded the zip file, and tried to install it via HBOOT 0.92. I downloaded it three times and made sure the SD card was formatted as FAT32, just as the instructions said. I renamed it per the instructions as well, and each time, HBOOT tells me "no image or wrong image". I'm making the assumption that attempting to clockwork mod from within clockwork mod would be a generally bad idea.
I've got everything backed up on my MicroSD card, so while I have no problem blowing away my internal storage to all hell and doom, I'd rather not do the same to my SD card (although I do have it backed up as well, so if shove comes to thrust I CAN do that). In fact, I am having the perpetual "preparing phone storage" issue as well, so blowing everything to all hell and doom is probably a good idea for me anyway.
Regardless, I need to downgrade clockwork mod until the next release of re-engineered. I already did a search for the procedures, but right now the score is HBOOT: 1, Voyager529: 0.

Do you have the zip on the root of your SD card? It can't be in any folders or hboot won't see it.

It is on the root of the SD card. HBOOT sees it, but insists that it's a 'bad image or no image'.

[Q] Can't upgrade clockwork mod from 2.5

Okay, so I was trying to upgrade to the latest nightly for my mother, since she loves gingerbread now. So here is my issue, I know that I need clockwork mod 3.0 or higher to get the nightlies to work, I have gotten #14 to install with the old recovery she has on there now. But when I try to update the recovery it will either not upgrade or revert back to 2.5 upon reboot. For example:
If I try using fastboot to install, I get an error. I don't remember exact error, but its a long the lines of it can't install.
If I try using the PB31IMG.zip method, but it just detects the zip and wont install or anything.
If I install the recovery via the recovery, it will work for the one time it loads, then upon reboot it reverts to old one.
I tried installing the newest nightly with the old recovery, but it will just load and then soft boot and repeat forever till I pull battery.
I rooted the phone with the unrevokr root and recovery method, so I don't know if that has anything to do with my problems.
Any help would be appreciated.

Before you flash a new recovery with ROM Manager go into ROM manager settings and check the box to erase the old recovery before flashing the new one.
Then scroll to the bottom of the main ROM Manager menu and select all clockworkmod recoveries. Flash 3.0.0.8 since it has fixes for 3.0.0.5 issues.

Still not working, just does checking the zip and then goes back to hboot. I am going to try formating the internal memory, and put a copy on there and see if that does anything. Would having S-ON have anything to do with my problem?
Well I fixed it, was that I had S-On still enabled. I guess I'm so used to my nexus that I forgot that I needed that off to do that.

Desire Z hboot install only with your phone

I have been following closely the G2 rom development threads and up to now everything has gone well.
If you want to install Virtous new roms you must install the new PC101.img first.
As didnt want to setup a ADB enabled PC again, I just followed these steps.
1-Ensure you already have a 4 way reboot rom (Recovery, hot restart, restart, and bootloader).
2-Download the new PC101.img to the root dir of your minisd card. Be prepared with a PC and minisd card reader. Or prepare another sdcard with any rom.
3-Reboot phone into bootloader. Be sure the PC101,img is on the minisd installed on your phone.
4-You will be in the bootload-reset-etc menu (the white menu). Select bootload.
This will flash your phone with the new PC101.img. You will see a small vertical line filling up as it flashes.
5-When finished, it will prompt you to reboot your phone. Do so.
6-You will see the green HTC logo, just let it there for 3 minutes and dont panic, you still have to install a rom. Pull battery.
7-Now swap the minisdcard with the card that contains the rom (Unity works great). Install battery and push the on button while pressing volume down to go to Clockwork recovery mode.
8-Install rom. No need to wipe as the new PC101.img formatted the internal 4Gb ram.
Thats it, hope it works.Worked for me.
I thought the file had to be pc10img.zip?

I would chance to say that it has to be renamed to capital letters, as in runs in a 'nix environment.

[Q] Bootloop with Alex-V 1.8 (387mb hboot)

I have problems with the Alex-V 1.8 Hybrid-Sense Rom:
I prefer the 387mb hboot-version, but where I can get the hboot-image?

Thank you, but how i must partitionize my sd-card?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
for partitioning use Gparted. alternatively use 4ext recovery.
I'm using gparted , i mean do i need fat+ext4+ext4+swap or fat+ext4+ext3 or somthing other
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
You need FAT32 (rest) + EXT4 (size 1 - 2 GB; I recommend 1,5 GB). Did not look it up, but this partition worked for every ROM I used since now (even a DATA2EXT one).
I always use 4ext recovery. gives the option of ext 3/4 and 1st, 2nd and swap partitions
Thanks for your answers!!! The problem was, that /system was too small, so i deleted a few ringtones, now it is working !!!!!

[Q] com.htc.skinpicker stops working unexpectedly

Hi,
I just rooted my HTC Desire HD, and installed a custom ROM (Android Revolution HD 6.3.2). After starting up the phone, I tried to change the skin on the phone (I don't like the original skin) but every time I press the Skin-button (Personalize -> Skin) I get the error message; Sorry! The application Skin Picker (process com.htc.skinpicker) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Any idea of how to fix this?
thank you in advance.
You can try fixing the permissions. If you have 4ext recovery I believe it has an option or you can download rom manager. Either one might fix it.

Thx..
