Noob can't get past boot screen

Hi everyone, I think I made a mistake somewhere along the way and maybe you can help me out.
I bought a Droid incredible from a friend of mine for $20 (cracked digitizer) I'm to scared to root my evo, so I am trying with the cheap broken incredible.
I rooted via unrevoked, installed rom manager, made a backup, downloaded cyagenmod from the rom manager. It did its thing, and now I can't get past boot screen. How do I fixed this? I have a slcd if that makes a difference.

When I go into hboot it says "no image" for everything...but the backup image that was made is on the sd card. Do I have to move the file and or renamed it?

Do you mean Hboot or recovery? If you are in hboot then toggle down to recovery and from there go to restore and your image should be there...

The "no image" is in HBOOT, and it is looking for any one of three specific files that would be on the root of the SD card. Those would be RUU files, radio files, or something that you put there to update something like that. If they are not there, which unless you are flashing them, then this message is normal.
Otherwise those files shouldn't just sit on your SD card, cause anytime you'd boot into HBOOT, it would want to load them each time.

Make sure you put this image file on the Root of the SD card, if its in a folder HBOOT wont find it.

My Incredible is back up and running. I am typing this message with it.
Funny story, I was under the impression that when you want to select something in the hboot recovery screen you used the power button when in fact your supposed to use the optical button!

[Q] Can't upgrade clockwork mod from 2.5

Okay, so I was trying to upgrade to the latest nightly for my mother, since she loves gingerbread now. So here is my issue, I know that I need clockwork mod 3.0 or higher to get the nightlies to work, I have gotten #14 to install with the old recovery she has on there now. But when I try to update the recovery it will either not upgrade or revert back to 2.5 upon reboot. For example:
If I try using fastboot to install, I get an error. I don't remember exact error, but its a long the lines of it can't install.
If I try using the PB31IMG.zip method, but it just detects the zip and wont install or anything.
If I install the recovery via the recovery, it will work for the one time it loads, then upon reboot it reverts to old one.
I tried installing the newest nightly with the old recovery, but it will just load and then soft boot and repeat forever till I pull battery.

Any help would be appreciated.

Get Rom manager from the market open it up and at the top it will say flash clockwork mod recovery tap that and your golden......

Yea...I forgot to mention, that doesn't work either. It will download, then flash it, but upon boot to recovery, its the old recovery.

Hmmm thats starange...... when you flashed it in hboot did you have your SD formatted fat32? If not bootloader won't read it.

Yea, its def fat32, it reads the file, but does not do anything. I get the little bar on the side that moves like its installing it. I am thinking I am going to have to try and restore phone to stock. =/

Indeed it did, I would then open winrar, and just drop the new .img file in and overwrite the old one. Maybe I should make a new zip file and add the other config file or whatever it is to the new zip. Otherwise, I am SOL lol.

That's where you are messing up..... give me a min and ill get you the right file

Before you flash a new recovery with ROM Manager go into ROM manager settings and check the box to erase the old recovery before flashing the new one.
Then scroll to the bottom of the main ROM Manager menu and select all clockworkmod recoveries. Flash 3.0.0.8 since it has fixes for 3.0.0.5 issues.

No dice, goes to [checking PB31IMG.zip] then just goes back to main bootloader menu.

Oh trust me, that was one of the first things I tried.
Looks like I might have to wipe the phone.

It sounds like its not formatted fat32 b.c. it should read it..... are you positive that it is? And that it is on the root of the SD and not the root folder....

Still not working, just does checking the zip and then goes back to hboot. I am going to try formating the internal memory, and put a copy on there and see if that does anything. Would having S-ON have anything to do with my problem?

Well I fixed it, was that I had S-On still enabled. I guess I'm so used to my nexus that I forgot that I needed that off to do that.

[Q] I did a factory reset like an idiot and now I'm freakin out!!!

So I messed things up a lil ... I restored the factory data on my phone while running CM7 because I am in the process of selling it. So basically I deleted the CM7 Software, all backups that I had saved on my SD Card, and now my phone has no ROM or anything on it.
I tried placing SkyRaider 4.0 and CM7 on my SD Card, by using my wifes phone, but when I went to install zip from sd, it aborts the installation right away. Is there a work around for this, am I doing something completely wrong or am I screwed?
Also, if anyone wants to buy the phone, its an incredible with 3500mAh battery and a car and home charger. Best offer takes it!

well, there are ways to go back to stock and turn s-on through the bootloader by a pb zip method, try that. Also if you are on cwm 3.0.x then older sense roms will not load through it.

you'd prolly get moer responses, in the Q and A section, not in the development.

I agree with drew. Look for a thread of going back to stock. Normally with placing a pb03img.zip in sdcard root then flashing

It sounds like the files are bad that youre trying to install or you need a newer recovery. Try putting the roms on your sd card through the computer then flash.

I haven't partitioned my sd card yet. I just wanted to get some info on this first. I am currently running CM7 and I'm aware that you don't need to partition to run this rom. I was thinking about trying MikG v3.00 or Decks and wanted to know if there were any threads on partitioning the Evo or any tips you guys could give me? Any suggestions? Once you partition your sd card do you tend to leave the set up as is regardless of using different roms? Does partitioning erase everything on your memory card?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

After you partition you do (well I do) tend to leave things how they are. After you partition to do a nandroid you have to backup sdext now and when you wipe you have to wipe sdext to go to a new rom. Also partitioning will 100% erase it so have to backup to your pc

Ok so i just partitioned my sd card using TWRP. Then I mounted my sd card and put the zip for MikG v3.0 on the root. I did a full wipe. Then proceeded to install the rom. But now it just says 'Unable to open zip file' It looks like its trying to load. I'm not sure what to do. Should I try another rom?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Might be a bad download also get off of TWRP it leads to ALOT of problems I would suggest amon ra

Ok thanks. i just installed amon ra and partitioned and put MikG on my memory card. im about to install it. I was just curious about the 'toggle signature verification' option. What is it for?

Signature verification is for flashing signed and unsigned zips no need to enable it unless you need to flash a HTC signed zip with it off you can flash any zip in recovery signed or not

Only if you want to use SWAP, think of swap as extra RAM, so if ur short on RAM swap might help, but swap is slower than RAM, and your need a Kernel with SWAP support.

(I am 14 years old so I hope you understand that I could be missing something quite obvious)
Ok, So last night I was looking for a good rom and stumbled upon Synergy, for those of you who don't know the rom is pretty old and the download links aren't working anymore thanks to SOPA (I think it was SOPA). Well, back on topic, I found these links:

So after downloading the Non-godmode ROM, I flashed it normally using Amon Ra, and installed no custom kernels, and becuase I have learned the consequences of not wiping I used both Calkulin's and Virus' superwipes. I read that it can take up to half an hour for the rom to settle and set up the SD card from the splash, so I left it plugged in while I was sleeping, this morning after about 10 hours it was still stuck on the splash.
I did several battery pulls before posting this thread and flashed back to stock via bootloader just to make sure my phone wasn't a brick.
Can someone point me in the proper direction?

I really sorry for bumping but I want to flash this rom so badly and I cant get into the actual device, just up to the splash.

Has anyone had this problem before or has fixed it before?

What H boot?, and did u partition ur SD card ahead of time?

I'm not sure how to partition the SD card so that may be the problem.

First back up your sdcard on your computer. Partitioning will erase your entire sdcard. You stated you were using amon ra. Go into recovery and you will see an option to partition your sd card from there. Then replace the files you backed up from your computer to your sdcard. Reflash synergy.
