Has anyone else had any battery life problems with the new Rom by ookba? I have one of those extended life batteries in my excalibur ( it is a 2400 mAh ) and I have found it loses power much quicker after I installed the new Rom by ookba. By the way I love the Rom it is awesome! But I was wondering if there is something I could do to increase the battery life more like it was befor I installed the new Rom. I do not want to take the new Rom off cause it Rocks!
I would like to have the battery last a bit longer though.. I don't know if it is the titanium panels or what that is making it lose power so quick after I have it on all day ( with bt off and wi-fi only occasionally ) it drops to 70 to 60 percent power by nightime. I have the normal stuff set up on the phone to use the best possible battery life but uses a lot more battery than befor I put the new Rom by ookba in.
I am looking for some answers but do not want to take this super Rom off my phone.
Thanks!
Personally my battery life has drastically improved since I moved from one of the Rose's Roms to 3VO's Rom. I had no idea that a Rom could make such a big difference in terms of battery life.
My battery life has gone down since upgrade to "3VO Rom ver 2.50 080809"(But still I like this rom). It only lasts 18hrs without any extensive usage. I will suspect that its radio which is causing this drain.

That is reallly odd. I have a 1550 mAh extended battery, and in one day of decent usage I only go down to 80% on a daily basis.
What I do notice is that once I hit 35-40%, battery usage increases insanely (but i am assuming that this is due to some anti-fail methods used to preserve the phones functions and whatever you may be working on , but i may be wrong). But besides that, i have had no real power issues...

same thing here. i switched back to 2.0 and have been very happy with the battery life...
This has been a well documented issue with the 2.50 version of the ROM. Ookba is aware and has mentioned reverting to an older core but keeping the same UI tweaks and feel of 2.50. If the drain is that much of a concern try version 2.00, 071809. It supposedly has a 'hole' in it but I never noticed it. The icons are a little different and there aren't as many UI tweaks but I had GREAT battery life on it. But if you can deal with it for a while Ookba I am sure will have something for us to try when he gets done over on the Maple page. The Dash 3G needs 3VO too ya know. So its up to you. Try the other ROM that doesn't have as much eye candy but has better life until a new release, or deal with the battery drain like the rest of us and wait for a new release. I just close out my programs as much as I can. I have a 960 maH and I get about 24 hours with regular use. Up to you.
battery life is so good so far
the battery life was good and improved and the mobile changed totally as i feel i got new one thanks for 3vo rom
I have noticed that my battery is also going low very quickly after this rom upgrade. today I'v removed omap clock settings from startup and looking what will happen. I think the OMAP is eating more power from my battery. the battery is 960mah and lasted 3-4 days with previous NRG rom.
well i completely agree i am using same battery and it was draining very quickly so i switched back to kavana 6.1 and every thing was normal again

I improved battery performance by using the OMAP Clock GUI and setting the low-end to 180 and the high-end to 252.
I agree, it must have something to do with the last version because the previous versions didn't drain so quickly...
I disabled omap and nothing significant happened, during the night in standby mode the battery was drained from 60% to 25%. now I disabled titanium panels and changed back to sliding panels. And there is IT! the battery life is much better, I think the "power eater" was titanium panel. You can give it try and post results.
remove check status mscr
its in the startup folder. helped me alot. before with my phone habits i would make it about 3hrs if that.
ookba posted this in his ROM thread.

There's no way that's possible. If anything, HTC Sliding Panels will eat more battery than CHome because it's a loyout no longer native to the OS. checkstatus.mscr is the culprit. Almost positive.
I Do Completly Agree ...
Yes I feel the 3VO Rom Ver 2.50.080809.. makes the effect on the performance of the Battery Life, I would indeed like make a STRONG APPEAL on behalf of all the users of 3VO Rom Ver 2.50.080809, to MR. OOBKA that he should get us some way of it , because we love and admire his hard work a Lot.

Battery Patch
Guys, I built a patch file that makes a few changes in an attempt to help battery life. Please install it and reboot.
Also could be found on the second post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=224547&d=1252178358
well i'm 3 hours into testing the patch.. gonna see if i can beat my normal 24-36 hours limit. i'll let you know tomorrow if i see any improvement
for me its a big improvement almost half day since i last charge my dash and with normal used im on 93%, before it will eat up 20% just texting from time to time.
tomorow i'll post again, before i can used my dash with the newest rom for just 1 1/2 day or less.
*70% left for 24 hrs
im in the middle of figuring out something. Its highly unlikely this is ookba's problem but, i installed the patch and got great battery life for 2 days about 5 hours longer than normal. I fully recharged before i went to bed and woke up this morning with my battery at 38% thats a 62% lose in less than 8 hours... anyone have any ideas. I'm used to running 18-30 hours non stop on this battery
2.50 and 2.60 rom update
i keep getting an error on my phone from time to time
Tmobile Dash 3G Mapl100
error: Cannot find window "DesktopExplorerWindow"
ive done hard reset's and everything still comes up on both roms
The battery life doesn't seem to last too long compared to the stock froyo rom or even the 2.1 rom that came with the phone after the update that increased battery life.. is there anything I can do to increase battery life? Thanks

how long do you need it to last? 12-16hrs w/ moderate use is fine for me because it gets a charger every night. are you away from one that long?
I'm getting 20 + hours with cm6 with moderate use but I have to agree 12-15 hours should be plenty
Have you condition your battery? Are you undervoltin etc etc
from the fade
ha! must be doing something wrong, this ****s all over the stock roms battery life
went whole day playing with cm6 and didnt need a charge
I'd like to hear some experiences that everyone is having on how the battery life is on the stock ROM (POST OTA, NOT OVERCLOCKED) vs custom ROMs (Again, NOT overclocked).
I've tried the Virtuous ROM, and as expected the battery life got slurped down like coca-cola! CM6.1 isn't as bad, but still seems to suck the life out of the battery quite a bit faster than stock.
Is everyone seeing similar? What makes the stock ROM so much better on the battery?
My experience was actually quite the opposite. When I switched to CM, my battery life improved by about 20-25%. I have a NAM Desire Z so it was running HTC Sense over Froyo.
Remember that it takes a few days of usage for your battery to 'calibrate' itself to the new ROM. My first two days on CM were really bad, but since then, battery life has improved greatly. Yesterday, after moderate use and 15 hours, I still had 45% of my battery left. With my stock ROM, I would be lucky to get 15 hours of use out of the phone period.
As far as overclocking goes, I haven't seen much of a difference in battery life. Reason is, even though you are overclocked when the screen is on, you can adjust settings to under-clock at other times, saving battery power.
I would recommend trying a Custom ROM for 4-5 days, that will give you a better idea about its battery life. Also, there are lots of settings you can tweak that affect battery life greatly. Widgets, background data, signal strength... SOO many variables in personal usage that battery life is going to fluctuate user to user regardless.
I found this thread on Desize HD forum:

then i wonder can we get some information to know where the problem come from?=> we can fix the battery drain issue on all GB build. Hope it help out devs. cheer
Sorry for my bad english
What drain?
Are there really so many problems with drainage on CM7/GB builds?
2d, 3h, 25m on battery with 60% left.
The first CM7 build i used is the one in my sig. I'm amazed by the lack of problems with this build
The only drain that's still ongoing is bluetooth on standby drain AFAIK. This DSP issue is not related to the HD2, thus I don't think it's valid to implement. With bluetooth turned off and heavy usage, I get roughly 2 days out of my device also... I really don't think the drain is a big issue. Honestly, the biggest issues is (And it's not much): Robot voice once in a while, some Wifi issues (EAP mostly), Wakeup lag and BT drain on standby.
the drain is related to the toolchain used to compile our kernals and roms?). I however can do easily 3 days with out charging on android, using the same setup as KrewsialNL
Actually
Actually, i get pretty horrible battery life across all builds...
it could be that I have a v1 TMOUS hd2 though... something is weird with it. I always get random energy spikes (even with sync off)
can't get more than 14-18 hours...
My battery drainage is fine using the Typhoon rom. I think some people are expecting a little too much out of their batteries.
It's only 1230mah if it was 1500mah it would have been way better.

How on EARTH are you getting that long out of your battery?
Are you using the phone at all?
I've used loads of different builds and never come even close to half that battery life, in fact no more than about 20hours MAX with light usage.
I am using Juice Defender to disable my WiFi and Data when the phone is not in use too.
Any tips?
I have run all the latest GB builds and I also get this weird spike (around 70mA to 100mA) usually when I leave the phone overnight (not charging) and this drains my battery down to almost empty by morning. This is with bluetooth off and wifi on. No apps installed on the phone.

mmmm That CM7 build has great battery life but yours is beyond reality... are you sure you haven't connect the phone in those 2 days?
Mine says "4D 10h 1m 50s on battery" and has more than 50% left but it has 3 green spikes (in battery use, I connected 3 times but didnt charge to 100%)

Well I was going to say exactly EXACTLY the same thing! Except that i didn't like Juice Defender
Is battery THAT GOOD?!?
Battery
well yes, it's certainly feasible...
it's just that MY hd2 specifically gets random spikes in energy usage.... I'm not sure why, been trying to resolve it for a while.
I don't really get those spikes in WM, only when I go someplace that doesn't have signal... it will spike up initially and then settle down (dutty's rom)
However, with these android roms.... i get random spikes of increased current around 100-200ma while the phone is in sleep. Bluetooth off, sync off, wifi off etc.
also, when the phone is in use... it is not uncommon to have current of 400+ consumption... hitting 500+ when web browsing...
I never got this high in windows mobile...generally around 400 when streaming youtube in wm. I'm wondering if it is an android thing...
edit:
in a perfect world, our battery consumption should stay around 4ma constantly... Which we know that isn't always the case because we have data syncing and signal strength changing...but to give you an idea....
if we have a 1230mah battery... dividing that by the current draw (4ma) gives us a standby time of ~307.5h....
that's ~12.8 days
however, with my current usage... say, i'm getting about 14 hours out of my battery... that's like if i constantly had a current draw of ~68ma...
Taking a look of my usage charts.... if we say the phone is only in use for 6 hours, and the rest is in standby for 10h at 4ma...
the 6 hours would have a power consumption of ~300ma the whole time....
which i think is kinda excessive....
meh. i don't know.
perhaps i'll upload my usage charts later... lately on this new rom, i've been getting only 8 hours of battery :/
but it could be because i've been playing around with it too much
I am on a TMO US HD2 first generation and I am doing good if I can get 6 hrs of battery with the stock battery and normal usage. No wifi, 3/4g, no GPS, and auto screen dim. If I am using the net or something like angry birds I am down to 2-3 hrs max. I have tried underclocking and still not getting a full 8 hrs of life. Would love to find a solid rom that lasts 12 hrs or more. Ordered an extended battery so maybe that will help a bit.

I have the same TMO US 1st Gen. I'm using
TyphooN CyanogenMod 7
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933951 just uncheck bluethoot when you don't use it.
I get from 1 to 2 days with moderate use.
Define what's good and what bad with the standard battery? I have been getting on average about 10-15 hours and that's with doing alot of texting, web surfing, mp3 player and xda lol, and crunchyroll (streaming shows) usually over 3g but sometimes over 4g.

Thanks for the tip. I have a second HD2 that I test builds on and I was actually in the process of installing the ROM you mentioned last night I am excited that this may be the rom to drop on my daily driver I have noticed that non GB roms (2.2) seem to have much stronger WIFI signal strength so I am hopeful this GB version will have solid WIFI signal too. Love using GB but hate the wifi issues I keep having. Thanks agian for the tip.
Well, this thread didn't go anywhere.
I'm finally trying to get up the courage to switch to a NAND rom.
I get awful battery life out of my SD build I've been playing with and that is with a 1500mAh replacement battery.
I'd hate to switch only to find myself in the same position?
Looking at TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 Nightly v3.6.0 . . .

battery drain on SD builds may vary from SD card used.
I can confirm that from my experience, i was not able to use the phone on the second day (total up time 1d + 12h TOP) when i was on SD builds
BUT.. while on NAND (no A2SD no Data2SD)
I can confirm that i can now use the phone for 2d + some hours, depending on use.
All battery info apps told me that battery life is Good (not excellent, not very good).
Made the switch. Battery life as good if not better than with WM and SD build. I feel the biggest improvement came when I installed setCPU.

What would be the best ROM for battery life? I'm using CyanogenMod atm and the battery life is decent. If I flash Android Rev. would I sacrifice battery life and if so by how much?

Battery usage is completely subjective so what will be awesome for one may be absolute crap to another. Only way you'll know is to try it yourself

As mentioned, battery life is completely up to your usage. Some steps to try though which can be used across any rom is to give Rom Cleaner a shot and to use Greenify. This will rid any rom of bloat that could be sucking up battery and better allow the device to enter deep sleep where the real battery savings are had.
A well optimized kernel would give you some savings as well. I can personally say that on ARHD 5.5 with Elemental kernel .15 I'm seeing about 70% battery left at the end of a normal day. For me though that may only be one 20 minute call and an hour of screen on time. Even when flashing and messing with tons of settings for hours, the phone has never reached a critical battery level for me. I
It's more about the way you optimize (or debloat) your phone , than the ROM you are running. Use battery monitors like GSam or Battery Drain Analyzer and freeze apps that are causing you huge drain. Greenify is also good. Ideally on the M8 you can expect around 6 hours of screen time if you're optimized correctly.

This. I am able to get about 6 hours on stock, ARHD and Insertcoin. With power saver on, that ends up around 7-8 hours of screen time. Coming from a Nexus 5 that got 4 hours typically, I'm pretty satisfied. I'm inclined to believe ARHD will get "slightly" better battery life than CM since it is based off the stock ROM on the M8.
Generally the OEM skinned roms have better battery life and benchmark scores opposed to aosp. Happens all the time on Sammy phones and HTC apparently too. Posts above mine cover most you'll need to know. Its all about optimization and frankly that part is extremely fun and especially rewarding IMO. Gives me an idea for something like a community made thread on different battery tweaks/voltages :good:

Thanks for all the feedback guys
I'm currently using Android Rev. 6.1 odexed (using ART atm) with ElementalX 0.10. I don't know if this is a placebo effect or not, but after flashing ElementalX(with default settings) my battery life seems worse :/
