It's an option for my rom (magnolia) but I cannot find the file itself. I want to switch but I like that ringtone. I've used root explorer and searched for all .ogg and .mp3 files but for the life of me cannot find it.
Any ideas?
but but... it's so bad

Desire LeeDROID 2.3d
Hope someone here can help me? Since I have rooted and flashed my Desire with LeeDroid 2.3d, my custom ringtone went away.
I still have the ringtone on /sdcard/downloads in mp3 format.
However, since I have Leedroid I can not select custom ringtones anymore, and only have the default ones in the selection box.
I found that the default ringtones are stored in /system/media/audio/ringtones. But this folder is Readonly, I can not copy my ringtone into that folder.
Now my question is what do I need to do to get my custom ringtone back?
Best way I guess would be to set the default ringtone folder to Read/Write, but how to do that? (I am not an Linux/Android crack)
Or is there an app which could help me out of this?
Would be great if someone here would have a solution or workaround for me
Kind regards
Peter
Just make the media/audio/ringtones folder on your sd and put the mp3 in there.
Uhh, cool, that was a quick solution! Just added the ../ringtone subfolder there and it works immediately
Many thanks for that!!
Or try Ringo Pro and you wil definitely like it ^^
guys, i have few MP3 & few OGG files which i was using them as ringtones on my previous phone.
in SGS2, i dont know how i can set custom ringtones.... i saw some OGG files in system/media/audio/ringtone folder through root explorer.
i tried copying OGG files into that folder, it allowed me. but when i went to settings/sounds/ringtone.... there it doesnt show up the newly added file...
what should i do ? is it possible to use custom ringtone on SGS2 ? if yes, how & in what format the SGS2 recognises music files....
pls let me know.... i am waiting
Hmmm think the fastest way on a clean phone would be to just play the song in the media player and then "menu > set as > phone ringtone"
Think you can also set then using kies.
Mind you I've only used mp3's so not sure if this also goes for OGG files.
hope it's somewhat usefull
Copy Ringtones to folder System/Media/ringtones . I use super manager .
Format .ogg .
Exit reboot phone .
Go to setting sounds phone ringtone scroll down and then back up for ringtone select new ringtone .
Tested working 1100 21/05/11

You can actually put them in any partition, even on the memory card, you don't have to root so long as you put them in the correct folder:
Ringtones
/media/audio/ringtones/
Alarms
/media/audio/alarms/
Notifications
/media/audio/notifications/
I believe that any audio format that the phone can support may be used
thanks guys, i played the file & in the options i set it as ringtone. that played the trick. after choosing that mp3/ogg file as default ringtone, it showed up in sound/phone ringtone setting.... till then it was not so...
thanks for you help...
it would have been better to search for list of music files from default ringtone settings....i wish.... its okay....

Click to collapse
You don't even need the media/audio/ folders.
My sd card just has the last folder name, and any files in there show up in the relevant selection menus.

The Groupon app has a lovely notification sound, however I cannot find the file anywhere on my phone. I've tried looking via a local file explorer and the Android File Transfer tool for Mac. I want to use the notification for my SMS.
Does anyone know where to find the file?
Thanks!
Your going to need to extract the apk on a computer and find the audio file there, Then move it to the phone, move it to this directory- /system/media/audio/notifications
Then reboot.
Sent from my Rooted Galaxy Nexus
Found it
Here's the file in case anyone is looking for it.
Does anyone know if there is a file you can remove to get rid of the volume adjust sound if the option is not included in a ROM to disable it?
i tried doing a google search and didn't come up with much. on some roms there is a file or two named volume?.ogg that you might be able to delete or rename in the system/media/ui folder, but some roms don't have those files, or any .ogg files related to volume adjust sounds in the media folder. no one knows where i could find them? the rom in question is Elemental 4.2.2, but i've seen other roms that did not have a way to get rid of it.
i dont recall the "volume adjusting".ogg file in system\media but if the related .ogg file isnt there and your rom doesnt have that option either; it would seem that theres no alternative... from my knowledge anyway.
i'm just wondering because there has to be a file somewhere that controls that sound. i mean, how do devs turn it off when they give you the option in the rom to disable it? unless you have to decompile the rom first instead of finding it with a file explorer, but somehow i think that isn't the case.
Anybody know how to add a custom ringtone to the Razer Phone?
I can't seem to find the option anywhere.
Thanks!
I use ZEDGE from play store.
Or use a file explorer and in the main storage there is a "Ringtones" folder, put you ringtone in there. Go to settings, sounds, phone ringtone and select it from the list.
