Does anyone know if there is a file you can remove to get rid of the volume adjust sound if the option is not included in a ROM to disable it?
i tried doing a google search and didn't come up with much. on some roms there is a file or two named volume?.ogg that you might be able to delete or rename in the system/media/ui folder, but some roms don't have those files, or any .ogg files related to volume adjust sounds in the media folder. no one knows where i could find them? the rom in question is Elemental 4.2.2, but i've seen other roms that did not have a way to get rid of it.
i dont recall the "volume adjusting".ogg file in system\media but if the related .ogg file isnt there and your rom doesnt have that option either; it would seem that theres no alternative... from my knowledge anyway.
i'm just wondering because there has to be a file somewhere that controls that sound. i mean, how do devs turn it off when they give you the option in the rom to disable it? unless you have to decompile the rom first instead of finding it with a file explorer, but somehow i think that isn't the case.

Could a kind soul out there tell me how I could get the original G1 notification sounds back on my phone? I have become very attached to the stupid sound I was using for text messages before I Rooted and upgraded to Cyanogen.
I have spent some time digging through the forum for an answer, but the closest I could come was a set of the sounds for Rogers phones.
Any help would be appreciated.
There is an Audio Resources file in the latest Cyanogen thread (which is http://n0rp.chemlab.org/android/audio-resources.zip) that I think has all the available audio files. If you unzip the files to the /sdcard/media dir, they should work there.
Correct me if I am wrong.
Just unzip the audio resources file into /sdcard/ and it'll automatically make the /audio/ and inside that the 4 folder structures needed. Your phone will automatically pick them up and use as normal ringtones as well so you dont have to do anything other than download and unzip.
I looked around a bit, couldnt really find what I was looking for.
First, where are the default ring tones and notification/alarm sounds stored? I assume there is a system folder somewhere.
Second, I would also assume you could add your own sounds (adb?) to the folder for your own custom ring tones and notification/alarm sounds?
Lastly, what is the easiest way to extract sounds from one rom to be used in another rom? For instance, I really like the stock sounds from Warm Z but didnt like the lock screen and need 4G. So I went back to Warm 5 but would like to use the sounds from Warm Z?
Zedge from the market.

using root explorer you will find them in system/media/audio
mount as r/w and you can remove them, add your own. after a reboot the changes are shown
/system/media/audio
If you want sounds from another rom, just unzip the rom file and pull the files you want from the directory above.
Thanks all
anyone wanna help me with some commands to copy the files into the system folders? I dont know the commands for this OS, all I know are basic DOS commands. I extracted what I wanted from Warm Z rom and just want to put them in the audio folders. I have them stored on my SD Card. Can I use Terminal Emulator for this? Or has to be done from the PC?
It's an option for my rom (magnolia) but I cannot find the file itself. I want to switch but I like that ringtone. I've used root explorer and searched for all .ogg and .mp3 files but for the life of me cannot find it.
Any ideas?
but but... it's so bad

From my understanding the same charging sound is used whether you're wireless charging or using a cable. I'm kind of an amateur so this may be a dumb way to do it but when I wanted to get rid of a charging sound I was able to replace the charging sound (which is in .ogg file format) with a silent one called Silent.ogg which you can download from this post. XDA doesnt allow .ogg file extension attachments so it's in a zip. Download and unzip it and rename it to Silent.ogg for convenience.
On my phone I use Root Explorer but you can use any file manager app that allows you to modify system files. The charging sound is in /system/media/audio/ui and is called Charger_Connection.ogg so in Root Explorer first navigate to wherever you downloaded Silent.ogg and copy it. Navigate to the above path and tap the "Mount R/W" button at the top. Paste the Silent.ogg file. Rename Charger_Connection.ogg to something like oldChargerConnection.ogg or whatever you'll recognize as a backup in case you ever want to restore it. Then rename Silent.ogg to Charger_Connection.ogg making sure it has the capitals and everything. Once done reboot into recovery and Fix Permissions. I usually clear cache and dalvik also. As a backup I emailed myself the Silent.ogg and ChargerConnection.ogg files in case I ever need them again.
Do not use Silent.ogg from the linked post above.
It is a looped ogg and will keep playing silently in the background preventing your headphones from working until you reset your phone. Took me a while to figure this out

This is a simple procedure to change default notification sounds like email pop up, touch interface sound, boot , shutdown, lock, camera shutter, keyboard sounds etc for GALAXY GRAND DUOS
Phone needs to be rooted...
Download root explorer or root browser. Go to system>>media>>audio>>ui
You will find all ogg audio files there..Each one for different task...
For example KeypressSpacebar.ogg is the sound file for pressing spacebar in keyboard. You can replace the default one to any sound file or music file of your choice in the folder but make sure to rename the replaced file to same KeypressSpacebar.ogg . Same method applies to boot sound, shutdown etc. The audio file should only be in ogg format. . There are lots of online ogg converters to do this. Before doing all this pls take a backup of the ui folder just incase u mess it up..
i know this is very simple but i guess it would be useful esp to change that annoying touch sound on jb..
Just incase if anybody wants default click ics sound for touch..Here it is ...
Rename the file as TW_Touch.ogg and replace the default TW_Touch.ogg in the ui folder.. Reboot the phone..
Press Thanks if it helped
