Previously i was running stock froyo rooted.
Ive flashed the stock gingerbread (odexed) from here and all went well.
ive noticed now that when i open an app from app drawer, when i click "back" to exit out of the app, the app drawer is still open. Before i flashed the stock gingerbread rom, the behavior was, click "back" to exit out of app and i would return to home screen (because app drawer was automatically closed).
Has anyone else experienced this?
If so, does anyone have a solution to go back to the previous behavior?
(note: i dont accept "hit home instead of back to exit out of app" as an acceptable solution. I also dont accept install another launcher as an acceptable solution.)
Please advise. Thank you.
in case it helps...
I have no other launch installed (no LauncherPro, and no AWD Launcher)
I still have stock sense launcher

you could try and download a gingerbread rom from MIUI.us or go to RM or something and try it.
Thanks for responding mini.
I would like to stay stock.
Anyone else notice this problem or know of a fix?
I am having that problem too and it is driving me absolutely insane. It has to do with how the Go Launcher is actually coded.
The app drawer seems to be in another activity and if you launch something from the app drawer when you exit back to the home screen you will return to the app drawer. However when you start something from the home screen you will return to the home screen when resuming. If you run out of memory while in the app and android kills the home screen then you will see different behavior and return to the home screen no matter what.
There is a really simple fix to this behavior, maybe this weekend I'll take a look at this tool and fix it then post a link for it somewhere.

If anyone can try to persuade the developers of go launcher to add a menu option for this that would be awesome.

I actually just took a peek at the site for Go Launcher and it looks like this behavior is new in version 2.61, behavior number 5:

I have sent the developer an e-mail.

Well you can't exactly come here and pick and choose which answers you want to hear. If you have a problem that you don't understand and/or don't know how to solve then you need to be open minded about the answers you're given. I'm not sure how your particular ROM is coded but that very well may have been a change implemented by whomever created the ROM. There are a number of launchers that have their assignments setup that way. There are also some that don't. If so, then you'll either have to use a different launcher, use the home button to get to the home screen, or flash a different ROM. No amount of picky mentalities on your part is going to change that. The only other thing I can suggest is to reflash the ROM, though I doubt this will yield any results, or download another odexed ROM and flash it. Either way it is definitely a software issue. Which means that the issue lies somewhere embedded in how the ROM was built.

Yeah I use Go Launcher and I have the same thing happen to me. I don't find it to be a problem at all since the apps I use 95% of the time are on my dockbar. So when I press the home button it actually does go back to my homescreen since I never open the app drawer. That's my way around it. The apps are more readily available in my dock bar anyway. So it's a win/win for me.

Hi, coming from the photon and loving the SGSIIE4GT so far. However, I'm having one issue. I'm trying to change to launcher from TW to the gingerbread launcher but it always comes back to TW. I have cleared the defaults for TW, tap the home key and select the gingerbread launcher but right after that the phone says that it is preparing my settings and then go back to the TW homescreen. Tried other alternative launchers and I still have the issue. Any ideas on how to solve this?
Thanks
maybe home switcher?

I had this problem while trying to use Go Launcher EX. I ended up going into my settings and clearing the defaults for tw and launcher then set my new launcher as default when given the option after pressing the home button.

Touchwiz is just another Sprint ID pack listed as Samsung. So go into Sprint OD and load up the Clean id and that is as close to stock as you will get.
Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All>TwLauncher
Then simply hit "Clear defaults"
Next time you hit the home key it will give you the option of selecting the one you want to use and making it the default if you so choose.

You mean Sprint ID might actually be good for something?
I am having kind of the same problem. Most of the time when I press the home button, I get prompted to select which launcher to use (Launcher or TwLauncher). The problem is when I set TwLauncher as the default, it doesn't stick. Its becoming very annoying. Anyone know how to fix this?
---------- Post added at 08:44 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:37 AM ----------
Also, I have tried clearing defaults for both launchers and even clearing data, but it doesn't help. Also tried clearing data for Sprint ID. No luck.
I've searched all over and can't find info on this...
I'm new to this, but was able to successfully get Codename Android running on my phone without a problem (started with 1.2, then 1.3.2, and now 1.3.3). I did all the wipes and factory resets prior to upgrading each time but I've never been able to get 5 columns to appear on my homescreens despite selecting it in the options. Is anyone else having this problem?
BTW, this is the first ROM I tried and love it. If I can get this column thing squared away, it would be even better.

Whoops! my bad thats rows....Do you have nova launcher installed? you prolly do as i think most of the custom roms come with it....Look for a app called (nova settings) if you cant find it hold down on your homescreen till you see a popup and select (nova actions) then select (nova settings) it will now be on your desktop so select it and go under (homescreen) then (desktop grid) change columns to 5 and you should be good to go...i just did it and it worked perfectly
Thanks for reply. I've heard of nova but was hoping i could make CNA do it since it is advertised as a feature. I will try nova
Edit: tried nova but prefer CNA launcher. So, if anyone can help get 5 columns?
I have a 5 row 5 column layout and I'm using ADWLauncher EX.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Use nova. They are all based off the stock launcher anyways in terms of looks and functionality. Any difference you see is due to options you have set. The fact is nova is the most versatile.
The Optimus G comes with some lovely stock wallpapers, however, there aren't any that I can use for my lock screen that match my overall B&W theme, or none that I have found acceptable. I have found various wallpapers I would love to use for my lock screen but you can only choose a photo from either your gallery (I can't even get it to accept these since adding ADW EX) or from wallpapers. So my question is, since I have no experience tinkering with system files, how would I go about taking these wallpapers I've found that I really like and adding them into LG's wallpaper file so I can access them for my lock screen? I would assume this is possible, I just have no clue how to go about this. Phone is rooted and unlocked. I have Busybox, File Explorer and a few other tools installed that may be of use for this. Just let me know what I'd need/need to do! All help is appreciated. Thanks in advance guys!
They must be somewhere inside the LG's home launcher.

Unfortunately, this doesn't help me. I need to be able to add to this file my own wallpapers. So I'd need to know the directory on the phone they're under, then how to get my preferred wallpapers added to this folder so that I can utilize them as a lock screen.
You need just download them and unzip.
The wallpapers will appear in gallery

Yeah, I get what you're saying. And I can get them into the gallery, unfortunately though, I'm no longer able to use Gallery photograph's, it HAS to be Wallpaper. For some reason, since installing ADW EX for my launcher, I can no longer set gallery pics as my lock screen. I can access those photos, pick one and crop it, it says "Saving", tells me it's changed my wallpaper, but it doesn't. So how do I get them into the system wallpaper file? I've gone through the files on my computer when I've linked my phone and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Can anyone provide me with a path that I can copy these photos to? Or offer me help on how to fix this Gallery issue with ADW? I've tried disabling ADW and using my the LG UI, but to no avail.
Well, theoretically its possible, practically it will be pain in arse cause there really a lot of things you have to do, and actually i believe it will cause the security error on boot.
You have to modify .apk in /system/app which im pretty sure will brick your phone.
What lockscreen app do you use?
If the stock, just go Settings->LockScreen->Change wallpaper, but this method doesnt work for me when default launcher arent set to the LG Home.
But still im able to set lockscreen wallpaper through QuickPic gallery.

Stock lock screen. I may change that and see if that helps, though there really aren't very many options out there for ADW, none that I've found I really care for. Tim, I appreciate all your help. I'd rather not risk bricking my phone, so it sounds like I'm stuck with what I've got until we get some custom ROMs...if we ever do >_< I'll download Quickpic and give that a shot, but I'm not holding my breath. Again, thank you for your replies!
Found a lock screen program I really like finally called MagicLocker. I'm now able to choose whatever I want for my wallpaper, and the app has a lot of custom lock design options you can acquire from the App Market, many of which are free. Thought I'd just add this in case anyone else is having issues and wants a fairly customizable lock screen app.
Is there a way to prevent Nova Launcher from showing up in the recently open apps view? It just find it annoying when I close the apps and accidentally close Nova Launcher and it causes a redraw/restart
I'm running the 3.3.13 Linaro Aroma Rom by Apophis and using the most recent AK experimental kernel 722 or something like that.
Any help would be appreciated
App pimp my rom has lock app in memory. Try that. Not sure but in Nova settings there should be an option to lock it in memory to prevent redraws

It's not the redraws in particular. I have it already set up to be locked into memory, but it's that I'm closing the app by swiping it off the screen, so it has to reload.
Is it set as your default launcher? If so, it shouldn't do that.

Im going to guess this is your problem. Go into your nova launcher settings and scroll down. You will see "select default home". Tap it and when it asks you to select the default home, select nova and then "always"

well i have quick desk ask my default, and then, in quick desk, nova launcher as the favorite launcher; maybe that's what it is. let me try that.
edit: that worked! but i can't use quick desk anymore. i'll have to find another way to use it. thanks for the help.
And, non of the previous method on Android Pie works to bring it back. Seems the activity that is used to enable this itself has been removed from the Android 10 cause I can't find any through Nova Launcher. Do share if anybody has managed to enable or disable the full bezel in Android 10.

Absent, you have to use software from a 3rd party to enable it, i use the Nova Launcher method on Android 9, it will be a shame it that no longer works as well.

I was having the same issue with my repaired Nokia 8.1 (flashed with clean Android 10). And the Nova Launcher option was not working anymore (setting not available). A Google session found this thread and the solution there works for me:
Simply download 'settings database editor' from the play store and alter the 'notchfullbezel' setting. I have a UK TA-1128 and it works perfectly for me
Just change the option notch_full_bezel from 1 (black background) to 0 (your wallpaper) and there the notch is.
