No matter what i have tried, i can not get any of the motorola software to detect my phone on all of my P.Cs ive tried un installing drivers, software, re-installing and so on. However i have managed to get the MSU update working on some one elses P.C where it installed the 2.2.2 froyo update to:
System Version
Version.34.164.3.MB525.Retail.en.FR
Model Number
MB525
Firmware Version:
2.2.2
but on all my home P.Cs Motorola software update, and RSD lite just wont detect.
the only thing that they have in common is that they all run, or have had Sony Ericsson PC suite installed.
after searching google, it turns out that the Sony ericsson PC suite causes all sorts of problems with other software/USB hardware, and i think my little defy has fallen victim to this.
So, i have un installed the SE software form my main P.C searched for the drivers, and deleted them, serached through the USB devices in device manager, and uninstalled all USB root hubs, and hub that have Sony ericsson drivers, and reverted them back to microsoft drivers, re-installed things over and over again, spent god knows how much time trying to sort it.
An after all that, still nothing. i could type the magic words format C:\ but i really really dont want to do that as its a complete pain in the arse to get it all back together again.
any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Try deleting registry entries. I used advance installer pro.
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
before deleting registries try using the motorola driver installer and clear and reinstall the driver package
Many thanks for you replies, ive tried the re-install the drivers route, and i had a look at advance installer pro, but i was way out of my depth with that, although i am happy to have a look through the registry and alter things there manualy ( as i know what ive done ) as long as theres a decent guide.
I have even tried to run the MSU from a virtual machine running windows XP ( VMware player) but the install always stops with an error message check_hotfix_for_vista.vbs
USB debugging is off?
seems like its on
Ive tried it with USB debugging on and off, on all the USB connection options available on the phone, and every USB port on my P.C
is your windows updated or does it have the necessary reqts to run rsd? If they do, try reinstalling rsdlite. I still use rsd4.9 plus the necessary motorola drivers. If that still doesn't work. Try repairing your windows if you still have your installer.

I just updated my already rooted Evo from 2.1update 1 to 2.2 using the HTC-OTA-3.26.651.6-Final-Froyo-Rooted-Odexed-netarchy-signed4.zip
Now after update, everything but the USB works. I've uninstalled the HTC sync and drivers programs, reinstalled them, turned off and on USB debugging, and even went in to recovery mode and rebooted the device.
What am I missing?

Same thing happened to me. I actually ended up using a different computer that had never had HTC sync installed on it. Then I did a complete wipe and then rebooted. Worked fine after that.

I've seen this happening to several people recently. Try uninstalling HTC sync on your PC. Install the Android SDK and download the USB drivers as instructed. Plugin your phone and open device manager on your PC and look for the item that has a yellow exclamation point next to Android device. Right-click the item and select update drivers and proceed to manually install the drivers from the ones downloaded from the Android SDK (there is tutorial on the website with screenshots).
Hopefully that works. I'm not entirely sure why this is happening to so many that have recently rooted 2.2.

Okay, I'm a little confused what do you mean by "reflash the MTD", and Tiffany84, what did you wipe and reboot, the PC or the Evo?
Does anyone know the fix for this, as I have two PC's (an XP and WIN7) that have the problem of loosing USB connection and then one that I used to use that still has HTC Sync 2.4 that does work.
This seems like a driver version issue. What's the fix????????
Solution Found - But Still Have Questions
So I Moved the USB cable to a USB port that had never been used for the EVO, it was originally used for the keyboard.
I uninstalled the HTC Sync software and the HTC driver package (that's installed the with HTC Sync), and I deleted a couple of folders with drivers I'd downloaded just to be safe.
I then swapped the USB keyboard with the EVO plug, and the the XP machine loaded the ADB drivers and recognized the EVO as a removable drive. So it seems to be working.
However, there seems to be a bug in the update process that's affecting the USB driver. So I hope and pray someone will identify the problem and come up with a solution.
Hi - more questions, but this time its a problem I'm having. Before flashing the latest O2 UK firmware I want to decrypt my current Orange France 2.3.2 firmware in case I need to go back to it. However, I'm assuming that I need to connect with SEUS once (and possibly update whatever they have) so I can then find the current firmware files in the SEUS folders on my PC.
Anyway, the long and short of it is that when I am told to hold the back button while connecting the phone, NOTHING HAPPENS. I've tried loads of times, tried reinstalling SEUS, nothing. Some drivers started to install, and all seems OK there - no yellow triangles in device manager. Also installed PC Companion (automatically offered when I connected the phone with it turned on). It installed drivers then too. All fine. I tried using a different USB cable too - no luck.
Any clues ?? Searched Sony Ericsson site and it is bare of useful info. Did a search here too but no luck either.
Thanks in advance.
and you followed the instruction as they say:
1. switch off the phone
2. wait for 30 seconds or so (pref. remove the battery and insert it)
3. hold the back button
4. insert usb..
it should detect the phone no matter what. i hope there is some juice in battery...
I've heard that SEUS and PCC now are able to detect rooted phones and don't let you reinstall stock software. It needs the stock build.prop
Thanks for the replies. I have been pulling my hair out on this. I realised that it is to do with my SECM USB Flash drivers being faulty or something.
I tried to use PC Companion and it got to the same bit where SEUS crashes - right when it wants to get in to flash mode on the phone. It hangs the computer up.
I have googled like crazy and have seen reports of others PCs hanging at the same place. BUT, I can't find a way to repair or reinstall the USB Flash drivers - I've reinstalled SEUS and PC Companion plenty of times, with my anti-virus off. And tried to get in to flash mode with the anti virus off.
Problem I think I had is that a lightning storm stopped my first installation of PC Companion - I think it may have screwed something.
Any ideas how to fix the usb flash drivers ???
Have you tried de-installing SEUS and PCC, then in device manager search for and remove the USB Drivers for SEMC.. then reboot.. then re-install SEUS..
??

Thanks - tried that but no luck unfortunately. Couldn't even see anything in Device Manager to do with SEMC, SEUS or Sony Ericsson - was looking under USB Controllers. When I did a full search I did find plenty of traces of the drivers GGSEMC (Gordons Gate Flash USB drivers) in both system32 folder and in the Sony Ericsson folder left over after uninstalling SEUS. Didn't want to just delete the ones in system folders.
you could try doing the "update driver" operation - my driver was called Sony Ericsson seechri (or something like that!).... see if you can repair..
Perhaps you could try on ur friends pc. Just to confirm that seus is the problem.
SOLVED (sort of)
Thanks for the advice.
OK - I tried on another machine (why didn't I do that 6 hours earlier ). Works fine on Win7 64 bit. Maybe the drivers didn't get installed properly on Win XP ?? Going to have a go rolling back to an earlier restore point on the XP machine to see if I can get it working.
Anyway, SOLVED. Thanks
When i connect my defy to pc yesterday via mini usb (miui rom). It shown the usb notification. Suddenly power off in my home and after power came when i try to connect usb thru pc it's not showing the usb connected in notification. I am getting usb not recognized or malfunctioned pop up msg in my pc(windows 7). Forget to tell my usb was little wet that time bcoz i fallen the drinking water over it. But i cleaned with dry cloth(will it be the reason for any hardware fault). I have 6 months warranty still but i had custom rom when i try to flash via rsd lite from defy bootloader(pressing volume up button by holding power on):-( it not showing my device connected in rsd lite. I installed latest moto drivers. Wiped data cache(2nd init) and installed fresh miui rom:-( no use. Problem is i need to flash fresh official froyo using rsdlite to give for repair in service center. Please! Anyone faced this prob, any solution for it guys. It is charging when connected to pc via usb cable. Tried in different machines no use:-( help me!
I have the same problem. I searched the internet for an answer but no solution worked. Most probably the problem is due to a conflict between Motorola Media Link and RSD Lite. Reinstalling RSD Lite did not solve the problem so next logical step would be to uninstall Media Link (I suppose you have it installed).
As for myself, I did not try it 'cos my Windows 7 64 bit is more then 1 year old so it must be bloated with all kind of drivers and programs and I was too lazy to try to do smth with it.
I guarantee anyway that if you take this radical approach (reinstalling Windows), RDS Lite will see your phone again.
Anyway, what I did was I used an Windows XP that I had on a virtual machine. Just downloaded motorola 32 bit driver, installed RDS and shared USB devices with the virtual machine and it worked.
So, the problem is most probably not related to your phone, but to your OS, which should be cleaned of all Motorola drivers and programs and then reinstall... and maybe with some luck you succeed
If not, use a virtual machine.
Good luck!
I made an effort and uninstalled Motorola Media Link. RSD Lite worked just fine after that...
I'm trying to connect the tablet to pc but nothing happens.I tried reinstall the usb drivers from Samsung but can't do this either.I get a message "The mobile phone is in use. To install normally, you need to remove the device and restart the computer. Please run the SAMSUNG USB Driver for Mobile Phones installer again after restarting.".I had a gt9000i installed long time ago so my guess is the problem start from there.I tried uninstall the drivers and do a fresh install with a newer version but i get the message again.I delete all Samsung files from computer manually, also the registry keys with regedit(maybe i miss some files) and run a registry clean with tuneup but nothing...i want to mention that in my girlfriend's laptop everything is ok.I google the problem and try everything other people suggest doing.Do you have an idea how i solve this without reinstalling windows as this is a no so easy choise for me?...And last in devices i saw the gt9000i.How can i remove this like it was never ever pluged in this computer?Thanx in advance...
PS.i use windows 7 ultimate 64 bit
Have you tried using the usb cable in another computer? You should try it to make sure if it's your window problem

Hi,
I'm having some issues where the MTP driver fails to load. Tried all the obvious stuff and did a lot of reading of forums and stuff but can't find a fix. Could anyone help me to fix it please?
Here's what hardware I have and what I've tried so far:
Tab Pro 8.4 16gb wifi UK model, rooted.
Connected via cable to Dell XPS 17, latest USB drivers installed, win 7 x64.
First of all, I enabled USB debugging and windows installed drivers for all except MTP.
Tried installing the Samsung driver package, same problem. Uninstalled at present.
Installed kies, didn't work, wouldn't even connect to the device. Uninstalled.
Followed the instructions on the wiki but the suite software installs the driver succesfully but then windows won't accept the driver. Tried the workarounds in the wiki but still no luck.
Tried rebooting the tablet and leaving the cable connected.
Tried wiping the cache.
Tried restarting both the tablet and laptop after reinstalling software and drivers, still no luck.
Found several workarounds on my travels, one was a command line for windows to add to usergroup ( it's on the laptop downstairs, will add it to the post tomorrow).
One post said to change a registry entry...really? Tried that, and another registry trick, but still no.
Using the same laptop, I had similar problems trying to flash a custom rom onto an s4, but the CM installer worked first time. I've done a fresh install of win 7 since then.
Can anyone shed any light on this for me please? Is there any kind of workaround? Running out of ideas!
Thanks
Fixed this, well, kind of. Here's a quick rundown of what I did, for people like me who are struggling with connection problems.
I thought I had tried everything, was going to dump the whole thing and then remembered that I'd fixed some previous USB problems (sound card) by doing a clean boot.
First, remove Kies.
The only other thing that is required are the samsung mobile drivers from their website. I tried with and without and this would only work with them installed.
Restart your tablet, make sure MTP is selected.
You can find out how to do a clean boot for you version of windows here.
Leave your device connected via USB cable. Once you have clean booted into windows, windows will attempt to install the drivers from windows update, let it do this. It can take a minute or two to complete. You should then see a green tick in the notification area rather than the dreaded red cross.
If, for some reason, the driver doesn't install first time, you can unplug and then plug back in the USB cable and this should do the trick.
What I did find, is that the connection wasn't consistent, I could restart either my laptop or tablet and then it wouldn't connect, so I'd have to go through the above process again to get it to connect.
Doing this allowed me to flash the Clockworkmod recovery with odin 3.09, but for whatever reason, I was still unable to use the recommended Eimdall suite to flash cyanogenmod.
In the end, I downloaded the CM11 zip file to my tablet (via http) and then used ES file manager to move it to the SDCard root and then clockworkmod picked it up from there.
Also, once CM was installed, there were no connection problems at all, as far as I can see.
Hopefully this will help others in the same predicament.
