How would I go about unrootong from cm6 to stock? Also what about the radios? What radio to use with what ruu? I used the easy root method and I then went back to the start over stock 1.47. Thanks

I would like to know this too, despite the forum police.

Then do a little search. There's about 5 threads on how to do it. In this forum and in Q&A.
There is not a specific thread about how to unroot from clockwork. I have read everything from just accepting the update to running all three ruu exe files. I am tired of all of the stupid wrong forum and search posts. More people with power trips than wanting to help....

It was only a few threads down from this one. Secondly, if you think Clockwork is the issue, why not just flash AR Recovery then try to unroot? Before you ask how to flash AR recovery, please do a search... That's how I did it.

Thanks for the reply. I know how to flash AR. I also have the ROM Manager, so I can switch between the two recoveries. I am just concerned that I will be leaving something irreversible on the EVO if I simply run the RUU. Ideally, I would like to completely remove all traces of root, if that is even possible. With Froyo with Sense dropping today, I don't see any reason for keeping root other than wireless tether, which I can live without.

except until early releases of Android 3.0 come out then you will want to re-root. You know you could just wait until a rooted Stock Froyo Rom is out (probably shortly after stock is released).

Honestly I came from an Evo and was not used to the labeling myself so I took a week to figure **** out before doing anything. But there is a thread that says full restore for Ek02 and EL13..
Edit: fyi- that's two separate threads.... you make your choice plus if you looked at the stickies or search the wiki it would give you everything with links

I was planing on going stock and rooting again so i could overclock and flash a rom sooner or later. So i guess that would be the best way with that link
That thread will give you ek02 kernel and ek02 rom, but not the modem.
Flash the modem separately if you want it.
Alternatively if you want to start from scratch, odin the eg30 factory restore from my signature, then immediately apply the ek02 ota update.

Hope it worked out for you but there is no need to go back to stock unrooted to achieve your goal unless thats what you want to do
sfhub 's methods work awesome
Is there an easy way to go back to 100% stock no matter what modem and everything else you have? This one mentions if you are on a certain version of something you won't be able to flash.

Hi i am having trouble installing the the tmobile software update that was release about a week ago. I bought this phone awhile back from a guy who had it rooted but i told him to have it reset to the original mode. Whenever i try to update it it takes me back to recover mode CWM. What should i do? If not what are benefits of rerooting if i can?
There are 3756372848362 threads on this exact topic and they have all been posted since the OTA update came out two weeks ago.
Try a search
And here's a hint: if you are using cwm recovery the ota update will not work with your phone.

ok nvm i will do but right now i did something stupid that i though would solve my usb connection problem. I downloaded the usb storage manager from android marketplace and change some of the settings (erase some sd file names) and now my phone is showing 0 space available and to make matter worse i just uninstalled the program and cant download anything.
You dont have to unroot to take the ota. Just have to have the stock recovery

This topic has been brought up so many times it isnt even funny any more. Even in the rom threads like juggernaut people are asking how to get rid of this update. A SIMPLE search would have answered the question..
...and its not like i didnt help the guy after i chided him for not searching. All he has to do is flash the rom i posted a link to via CWM which he ALREADY stated exists on his phone.
Damn teenagers on xda.

You're not helpful. End of story.
Hey everyone. First off I have done some looking into this so I apologize in advance if it seems like a newb question...but I couldnt find any solid answers. I am use to flashing roms but this is the first time I have just waited for a stock update.
I am running the stock 2.3.6 Rom but I am rooted. I have read that updating may or may not work but might cause issues. The last thing I want to do is brick my phone so I just need some clarification.
What do I need to do to accept the current update? I have not been able to clarify the proper way to unroot my t989 and I have read the stickied threads.
Any help would be appreciated!
I will with hold personal comments and just say you need to read more. There are plenty of threads regarding what this update is and how to flash it. In fact, theres a thread a few posts below yours that is titled [HOWTO]ODIN FLASH new UVLDE UPDATE {Recommended for ICS}
Thanks for the reply...however even that thread does not address my specific questions. All it does is tell me how to install it which I could very easily do if I had a stock unrooted phone. Out of the about 10 threads I have read all the way through I have yet to get a straight answer as to my questions.

Ok if your rooted just follow my guide and you'll be fine , after you get the new update you'll lose root. All you have to do is re root and that's all. You wont brick your phone i was on stock while rooted, did what i did on my guide and im perfectly fine. Considering if this is what you were asking.

Thanks for the reply! I was going to ask again in your thread but I hate it when people ask 10 times in ten different threads so I didnt want to be THAT person...lol
So You would suggest that I dont accept the OTA update and just us the ODIN method? Of course it would be nice and convenient to just accept it. lol
has anyone got the root for T989UVLDE. i have it on my phone and no root.
should i sue the method from ajster1989?

It really doesnt matter. I would prefer the Odin method as the download cant interrupt or corrupt. Doesnt matter if youre rooted or not.

I havent tried that method but I and many others have used the normal way...push CWM via Odin, then flash superuser from recovery.
Ok just for the heck of it I did a CWM backup and backed up everything with Titanium and accepted the update. The update just restarted the phone and it booted into CWM and just stayed there with no sign of change or downloading anything. I tried to see if there was an update on the sd but there wasnt. Rebooted and all is the way it was. I tried to click on software update but it just said "no firmware" as always.
Questions go in the Q&A section
Sorry guys I don't get it.
Are you saying that we can root the update? I got cwm flashed, but the zip wont root anymore, it simply will not work.
Or, are you saying to flash a pre-rooted rom with the update?
Is there a superuser.zip that works with the update, and if so, where?
Any info is greatly appreciated. I really want old rootie back.

if you're rooted and have the CWM or TWRP recovery installed, get the updated ATT, stock, rooted ROM from the development forum, flash to your phone and you're done.
Plus you cant update if rooted. Use that same app to unroot and try updating again. Also put ur time n date a day or two ahead before trying to manual update. And I agree you should have asked the question in one of those "other" threads or in the right section "Q&A"

You can update with root as long as you have the stock recovery. The update is 100% going to break root, but that's not hard to fix. Recovery is the important part.
What you didnt pick up on is your post is painful to read. Just like other posts you've made, you appear to ignore any sense of punctuation or structure.
This isn't texting ims to your homeboys. If you honestly want help, attempt some proper spelling and punctuation.
