When can do my post anyone knows how i can close this post after i get my 10 posts that it requires me to put, I Put android and windows 7 on my phone and i have put android and wp7, i am not that new!
There was a 10 post limit put in place to prevent a lot of "noobs" posting questions in the development forums, which is the wrong place.
Once you get 10 posts, you can post in any forum. It won't take long to make 10 posts in other forums. We have an off-topic forum where you might be able to find some threads to reply in. It's a good place to start
Got already my 10 posts but still canĀ“t post where ever i want.
I`m new member too, but I think Is good idea apply that rule.
i should get 10 posts as soon ss possible

I totally disagree. A 10 post limit is really rather lame since the noobs that need spoon feeding will post garbage to get to a 10 count, then unleash the hell that is typical of people who are too lazy to read first and ask questions later (don't even get me started on the Search function)
I also understand the irony that this my first post, and yes, its both to berate the noob community and the forum. My intended first post was to give feedback on the stability of CM7 stable in the Dev forum like the other 51 pages of comments, yet here I am, going through the bull**** hoop jumping to even post.
****ing makes my head hurt. FAIL.

Thanks for the info

Hello. This is very stupid. 10 post for nobs isnt good idea.
Hi just seeing if I can post here

Go to your device support area and start helping people. You'll get to over ten posts in no time, and probably learn lots in the process.

I agree with you sir its a awful idea
I am unable to post in the dev threads after my 10 posts .. i understand the point of the limit but i merely want to post found bugs ..
Iv also seen people with alot more post who still ask very simple and stupid questions in these threads .. so that kind of defeats the purpouse of the limit ..

IIRC the forum stats update every hour so it may take a little while after acheiving 10 posts before you can actually post........
Should be soon dont worry
Unfortunately your right, there are members with more than 10 posts who do not seem to be able to differentiate between a development forum and a Q&A forum...
However the 10 post rule has dramatically reduced the clutter in the development sections across the board, trust us on this.

So, you were never new, huh?
New people should read and learn and not post without searching, but no one should be saying they shouldn't be here. We were all new once.
Im Getting My 10 Posts In Now
10 posts ?
tbh
the 10 posts don't seem to deter clutter...
also, just coz you haven't posted 10 times doesn't necessarily mean you can't add value !
That the worst bit of resource management I've ever seen - a 'noob' may have something incredibly valuable to add - even if it's a 'dumb' question - it may provoke a non-noob into a new idea.
I have been on several forums - been on Linux, Ubuntu, Maemo devel ( hey they alrready got GB 2.3.3. running on an N900 ! ), Meego devel, iOS.... all can add value as essentially all based on same platform
..... - just wasting one of my 10 posts here as a noob !....

Thank you David.
Does that 10+ Post-rule also apply to adding a signature?
I kinda like the 10 post rule, BUT, it is a bit annoying, since people like myself tend to not read the forum rules, since they are most likely the same on most forums anyway.
So you read a forum for ages. At some point you choose to create an account but still just keep reading since you DON'T actually have anything to add that has not been mentioned before.
Then finally comes the day, when you tried out a new released Kernel and would actually like to add some of your experiances with it and can't post.
I don't think I'm the first experiancing that problem before, cause you didn't realize you NEED to post to be able to post.
well well, as you may think, this post all in all is also a +1 to get to my 10 posts.
cheers

There is an 8-Post rule for signatures, but for a totally different reason. Spammers were using Signatures to advertise products, adding the restriction pretty much removed these types of bots.

yeah, thats about what I immagined would be the reason.
Its a good rule, but can be pretty annoying...not like I'm gonna care about it anymore in about 30 mins anyway.
Same goes here, i think its time for me to contribute as well.... Still needed another 7/8 post to start posting in the respective threads
I have been lurking on this site for sometime and also feel I have something to finally contribute so hopefully I dont run in to any server issue after my 10th post, really like this site!
Hi,
I just wanted to reedit a comment because a tag was missing and it said that I have to wait 2 minutes before I am allowed to do another posting.
Well, I didn't want to do another posting, I just wanted to edit an already posted comment.
Maybe this could be fixed easily...
Thanks
Rebista
Came here to try to find just the same answer. It's just editing, 2 minutes is too long to wait for something like that!
But I understand what the reasons may be. What amount of post will take this away?
thanks in advance
I would have expected you to be beyond that point now with more than 10 posts, but perhaps there are new restrictions on junior members, which should end at 30 posts when you become members.

Nope. Already tried, is instantly done.
Okay, so free edits come with 30 posts ...
As it just happens this very post now is my 30th post
What an unusual solution. Post in this forum and through the very act of posting everything is taken care of
lol
Just came in here to comment about the very same thing. I can understand limiting the amount of posts new users can make within a given period (helps prevent spam)....but editing a post should be excluded from this limit.

I think it's allright and something you can live with, for 30 posts. They say in their FAQ that limiting posts is the only way to control spammers (well, one of their ways) and chaos.
30 is NOT that much, when I came to this thread I tought I was to find some limit of 100 posts and THAT would be annoying.
If you plan to stay in the community, 30 posts are ok and 2 minutes are bearable. Just MY opinion
woah 30post until edit???

No, there is a 2 minute time limit between post and edit until you reach 30 posts. You can edit before 30 posts, you just have to wait a bit.
Think about what you write before clicking Submit. Use the advanced edit mode and the Preview button. Make sure you have furnished enough information in your post to help people answer your questions.
If you have any other questions, please read this guide.
I don't have any complaining about it ( I'm new junior member) cause its much nicely read and post to the good forum ( some boobs don't read and follow xda's rules)

I came to this thread via google. Shouldn't this info be in some FAQ?
I have no idea why this faq http://forum.xda-developers.com/faq.php is not linked anywhere for people to go clicky.
Conspiracy theories:
It's almost like they don't want users to find the faq.
They assumed users won't read it anyway.
They are lazy.

There's too many restrictions at xda, I mean yea they got a lot of helpful tools, but come on...but whatever...lol

are you flashing the right version rom for your device? all gnex arent the same. you cant flash a gsm rom on a verizon device for example. also, do you have the latest cwm recovery installed? try twrp recovery. also, have you tried just redownloading the rom and flashing again?

A useless post in a useless thread is rain in the ocean. Much like this post. However, status 7 error is easily one of the top 5 beat to death questions on xda. So I'd say, in the interest of usefulness, informing OP of his folly is progress towards sparing the community useless threads, whilst posting the actual information, for the ten thousandth time on xda, is actually not encouraging anything. I call 'em like I see 'em.

if we go your route, then just about every issue in human existence has been written about, posted about, talked about, etc. then there is no point in having any kind of forums, from child raising, to car buying, to xda. might as well just shut them all down because all information is available somewhere already, from a library, to the internet, to stone slabs. but we are all imperfect humans, that do imperfect things. just remember, anything that you will ever ask in your lifetime, or have asked, has been asked already and answered. go search for it instead of bugging your family, friends, teachers, government officials, doctors, or stranger that walks past you on the street with any kind of question.

no its not. there have been 10 threads that i know of dealing with the same thing in the past 2 days.
In the grand scheme of things, and an idealized, purely general, take on existence, you're unquestionably correct. But that excellent segue into reclassifying a cited instance aside, this topic hardly warrants profound defense, in the interest of benevolent information exchange. To your response I would say that this is more akin to asking the manufacturer of your product to read you the instructions. A needless request for assistance, for something that has been more than reasonably supplied already.

I see your point, but I see it more like having a 1,000 page instruction manual and asking someone (or the manufacturer) where the info is located in the book (that's the core idea of a Table of Contents). Just because someone has all the data in their possession, doesn't mean they know where to look or could really understand what they're even reading. But asking someone for help with understanding the instruction manual is totally normal (that's the exact idea behind why there are THOUSANDS of tutorial videos on Youtube and tutorial sites in general). So if someone said "Hey, where in this 1,000 page manual is the answer I'm looking for?" An answer of "The info is there in the book, go look for it" would be pointless.
Back on topic, with error 7, just reboot the recovery (preferably using TWRP) and try again.
^^
And, update TWRP. They've fixed it.

any request for assistance is not needless. the op has a need anyways. i am more than happy to assist anyone in need of assistance. if youre not, you dont have to, no one is making you.
I can see you're train of thought, and I can appreciate that. In any case, you're also correct about getting our young status 7's thread back on track lol didn't mean to hijack.

Hey, I really hope I'm not missing something here, but here goes. When I first started reading XDA it was maybe June... by later in the year I really wanted to post my ideas or some useful scripts I've made. Unfortunately whenever I tried to even respond to a ROM thread, I got that 10 post error. I guess it makes sense, seeing as there's probably a lot of garbage an unsuspecting newbie can post to a thread. But anyhow, today when I realized I have posted (exactly?) 10 posts, I'm still unable to respond to the dev section or make threads. And it's kind of unnerving. So where would I attempt to find the information on:
1. How to post in those threads when you meet all prerequisites
2. How to become stated as "Member" as opposed to "Junior Member"
3. And.. ... how to get a signature... even though that's less important.
I really hope I'm not missing protocol here.. I searched around and there were some old vague threads that didn't help much. I used good keywords, I do web SEO as a service so I think I searched hard enough. :/
Any help is definitely appreciated.

It should be automatic, it might just take a few hours for the system to put you into a new user group.
You go from "Junior Member" to "Senior Member" when you get 100 posts.
Thanks . The dev forum allows my posts now, which is good. And I am a Junior Member still but that makes sense, it's not like I'm a longtimer on the XDA forums. Also, how can I get my signature going? I always enjoy having a signature.
