HTC Sense on TP2 Android ?

Hello Everyone,
First, sorry for my english cause i'm french
I've got a simple question: is it possible to have HTC sense (as on the desire) with Android (XDAndroid 2.2 Froyo FRX01 Final 2.2)

The sense builds were abandoned, they were an atrocity to use.
But, they can be found on Reef's web page... I don't think they've had any work done on them recently - you can certainly upgrade the zImage/modules, rootfs etc but the system image won't be up-to-date...

I have installed "ProjectAndroid2.1Sense.061610" on my tp2. I then copied "zImage", "startup.txt" and "Modules-2.6.27.46-01149..." from the 30/08/10 release into my "ProjectAndroid2.1Sense.061610" "andboot" folder, having deleted the original "zImage", "startup.txt" and "Modules-2.6.27.46-01149..." files from "andboot".
In the end I have sense 2.1 running, with wifi, radio (network) and sound of course. The "startup.txt" from the 30/08/10 release has overclock, so it is not too bad for speed.
So, in a way, yes you can.
CREDITS: To someone somewhere on the forum who gave these tips, can't remember who.

Only the 'blazn' builds have an overclock statement in the startup.txt...

That is the correct one. Thanks, I was writing everything from memory, and no doubt, couldn't remember every detail, however, everything else is as should be.

The rest of it looks pretty accurate

This project was abandoned for this device but not for the other phones ie. topaz, hd,etc..If you want to update your system image, just replace the old one with the new one that you will find all the updates on here

i got a simple answer.. find me a 2.2 froyo with sense that was made for a msm7k device and ill make it happen. So far Hero, Eris and Legend dont seem to have a 2.2 with sense so we cant modify it to run on the tp2.
The desire, incredible and other qsd devices have different libs we cant run those. So we must have one of the devices above (msm7k) for this to happen.
We could always try to use 2.1 libs but thats just barbarism and asking for a really unstable system.

What about an HTC Wildfire? That's an msm7k device with Sense, and it's got an update to 2.2 Froyo:

its actually msm7225 but its worth a try..
now i need a deodexed rom and i'll make it my *****..

I don't know much about the programming side of roms and such (I know enough to break things). But maybe the Sprint HTC Evo base system?

sorry guys.. looks like the version that is out is some chinese release. Not even the Legend guys can get it working so its going to be harder for us. I'll wait till the official 2.2 is out for the wildpoop

I have got myself sense & froyo builds. Now I want sense with froyo improvements like speed wifi etc..can anyone suggest me how to do that?

Has'nt HTC Wildfire got it's official Froyo 2.2 update? If not can't we use one build from the HTC Wildfire froums?

Not sure where you're located but according to Moto forums https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/47028 the Defy in the US has received a limited release for testing which means the official release wont be to far away. Probably like the other posts said, end of April.

The Brazilian Defy branded by Claro has Android 2.2.1.

Telus Canada is now selling defy with 2.2

I would like the clean SBF of my telus rom, but i dont see it on their site.

The version of Defy selling in China has Android 2.2.1. Now it has upgraded to Android 2.2.2 through net

...so China has 2.2 for quiet a while now and Korea got Froyo to. My guess: next the Staates will get Froyo and then its Europes turn

It seems that MOTO is rolling out the update but in batches. Any info on when is Froyo going to be released in India?

So any one with official 2.2 what's the phone like now any better ? is it faster, smoother, bug free (as they have been working with the rom for over a year now)?
I know 1 thing i was looking forward to was a black status bar but its still white oh well
also what pisses me of is that most devices will be upgraded to 2.3 including the droidx witch was out before the defy.
This is the last time i buy Motorola there crap with updates.

I just gave up waiting and flashed a custom ROM. It was the best thing I did! The xd1 ROM is many times faster than the Motorola's. Highly recommended!

[Q] Gingerbread 2.3.3

Is this update going to be equivalent or better than the current rom selection for cm7? Or are the dev's going to tear it apart an make it that much better?

The latest releases are actually 2.3.4 in CM7.1

for some reason my was acting funky because i did not flash the radio properl;y so now mines says 2.3.5. Did they already do a new update?

Ok, we are up to 2.3.5, I didn't even realize that.

Is Android version 3.2 available for the Evo 4g yet?

.....unless there is a newer version than 3.2 available now...
I currently have 2.3.3 rooted.

3.0, 3.1 and 3.2 are Honeycomb and are designed for dual core tablets. 2.3.5 is the current update phone OS and you can find come ROM's here running it.
The next update the EVO might see though doubtful will be Ice Cream Sandwich.

Even if we do get ics, I doubt the sense version would change. 2.1 if were lucky

Defy ICS?

Hey all,
Rumour is that handsets with 2.3.3+ will eventually go to ICS.
Do you think this will include Defy+ ?

Well yes, the main issue could be *Motorola*
Even the new RAZR is looking at Q1 2012 for ICS.
Well right now the Defy i have now with Walter's Defy+ stock rom will have to suffice

It is a possibility unless there is a Defy++ in the making.

does it really matter whether there will be an official or not? the cyanogen team will start working on cm9 (ics) as soon as the source is available, which will probably happen in a few weeks. and since the defy is officially supported (and all devices capable of running gb will be able to run ics), we will get official cm9. the question is, with which kernel, because as long as the bootloader is locked, we will have to stick to froyo kernel. no idea how that effects things... :/

So there's still hope for defy/+'s bootloader .

Well, unlocking the Bootloader.
But I think the Defy won't have ICS, due to the old kernel.

As far as trusting Motorola for updates, I wouldn't start getting my hopes up. You'll notice the original Defy is still at 2.2 and the Defy+ hasn't got any updates at all.
Our only hope is CyanogenMod and the likes, and the Defy isn't on the high-priority list of any of them. By the time, and if, it comes out at all, we'd all probably have fancy new phones anyways.

Defy original came with 2.1 and got one upgrade to 2.2. It is logical that defy+ get one upgrade too...

ICS will work with froyo kernel 99% sure. Difference between froyo and ginger kernel is security fixes, no major updates, new kernel 3.0.1 is the high-end Linux, if Motorola unlocked boot-loaders it's a big plus about using last kernel innovations.

i hope motorola releases the official gingerbread for our defy because isn't acceptable that we are at froyo yet

^ Motorola confirm that 2.2 is latest update for Defy and Kernel of Defy+ is the same as Froyo 2.6.32, update is not needed. Google was make equip for updating all phones (when is possible) to run 4.0, but was a fake, maybe ?!
