3.0, 3.1 and 3.2 are Honeycomb and are designed for dual core tablets. 2.3.5 is the current update phone OS and you can find come ROM's here running it.
The next update the EVO might see though doubtful will be Ice Cream Sandwich.

1.6 is Android 1.6 aka donut.
2.2 is Android 2.2 aka froyo.
You've heard of the different versions that Google puts out, right? Like this phone only has 1.6, the new 2.2 update is coming for x device, etc...

Is it possible to install the latest version of Android (v3.1) on the Defy?
No. I don't think Defy has the processing power to run 3.1 decently.
Could be wrong though.

The Nook Color with TI OMAP 3621 can run Honeycomb 3.0 so i think Defy can do.
But our Defy has only 3.7" screen so why we need Honeycomb? In my opinion, gingerbread is very good for a smartphone and what we wait for now is Ice Scream Sandwich, not Honeycomb.
So, it seems the best one can get at the moment is Android 2.3.4.
Has Motorola released a 2.3.4. ROM in some countries without the MotoBlur?

Will their be any noticeable changes in Android 2.3 for the Desire if HTC doesn't update the version of sense?

Im not really sure, but i read before, that they might upgrade the sense to 2.1 ,
And wish we get the official update to the gingerbread version...
Anybody, CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG.
I don't know officially but I don't see why they wouldn't upgrade Sense to 2.1. It can run fine really. But if they don't update Sense in 2.3, you would just see a little difference in Android itself since it's more optimized than 2.2.
I wish we even get updated to 2.3 soon.....
Forget Sense 2.1! Sense 3.0 is a lot more beatiful!
Why would you just stand there and wait for HTC to update your phone?
That will take some time.
Just root your phone and you can already get Android 2.3 and Sense3.0 for your Desire
I would do that but I can't get it rooted because I have Hboot 1.06

Is this update going to be equivalent or better than the current rom selection for cm7? Or are the dev's going to tear it apart an make it that much better?
The latest releases are actually 2.3.4 in CM7.1

for some reason my was acting funky because i did not flash the radio properl;y so now mines says 2.3.5. Did they already do a new update?
Ok, we are up to 2.3.5, I didn't even realize that.
And what is it? Do you guys think we might get official ICS soon-ish?
Looks like general bugfixes, ICS will probably never come officially.
The version after update is 2.42.405.4
What the hell? And I personally think that we have a big chance for Android 4.0
Android version is still 2.3.3 and HTC Sense is 2.1... ehhh
root it, go CM.
