Hi there,
I've been diging a lot through forum, found some great informations here, but i'm afraid my problem isn't solved yet.
"Someone calls, you pick up the phone and hear nothing. Pure sound of silence..."
I know, i know - search forum: the only thing I found is UnidirectonalPatch (switching one audio library file AFAIR).
Well... not working. A friend of mine says, that what he does is: not turning off BT, after every Wi-Fi usage soft reset. Stupid, isn't it? But I guess it's the only way to do that.
Has anyone solved that problem?
I'm not sure if you are having the same problem as people in UK do.
In the UK, when your phone contract is nearing the end, the phone company (or 3rd party sales person) are trying to do business with you and hence the call. I've did a research on it, and it seems that, there are such call centers, where there is a computer, which (somehow) get hold of all the phone numbers with contract that is nearing the end. The computers will start dialing to all these numbers. However, there might not be that many workers (sales person) around handling these calls. And hence, you will get a silent phone call. It usually come from a few specific numbers.
If your phone contract is nearing the end, probably that's the problem.

Nope, it's not the same thing....
In the end, I think I'll try to disable BT at all, as written in some posts year ago or removing BT profiles.... crap, that's annoying thing.
Putting someone on speaker creates a very annoying echo for the person you're talking to of their own voice. Anyone figure out a fix for this yet?

I have the same exact problem. I did notice that i didnt have this problem speaking to my cousin who has a G1. Im not sure if it has to deal with the type of phone or what but it is definitely annoying, esp seeing as the speakerphone is one of the phones key features.
Same problem on t-mobile tp2. I even got the phone recplaced by t-mobile and have the same issue. Is it a flaw in the phone?
It's because it records its own sound off the speaker. I can't believe they didn't think about this???
so this is a known issue for all tp2? i was thinking it might have something to do with the noise cancellation.
trying second replacement now... hopefully bumps the problem away
I have similar issues, but my main issue is that I cannot hear on speakerphone--there is a lot of static and the sound cuts in and out. As soon as I switch to headset or standard speaker, I have none of those problems.
I am using Tilt2, Energy Rom (if that means anything), and have the exact same issue.
I agree with the OP who said that the speakerphone feature is one of the main benefits of this phone -- how to get it to work properly?
I just got my second replacement phone from t-mobile.
NO echo with 6.1
Immediately after 6.5 upgrade... I had an echo again.
HOWEVER, Problem may be fixable with replacement. I was originally premature in saying it was the upgrade. While I sometimes get the echo it is not as common as before. For the most part the second replacement seems to have corrected the issue (I still get it sometimes but not always as before).
Same issue here, echoes making the speaker virtually useless and also at times lots of static noise, especially when using the phone (i.e. making notes) whilst the speaker is enabled.
Thought I could bypass it by using a BT speaker, but wouldn't you know it; the BT is faulty and has a whopping range of 1 - 1,5 metres.
Trying to get a replacement as we speak.
The other day I was using the speaker phone right side up and the person on the other end complained of a major echo. As soon as i turned the phone over (upside down) they claimed the echo went away.

ugg, I just updated to 6.5 after having the phone for 6 months, now everyone on the other end is complaining of an echo.
Think possibly install the old radio as a solution?
Same problem here, hopefully this thread gets enough attention so that T-Mobile, HTC, or Microsoft does something about it.
I doubt its a hardware issue because it sounds like people who got replacements are still having the same problem. I had the problem from day 1 out of the box, but hesitate to get a replacement because i think they usually give you refurbished ones if you do.
Well, the reason I posted this is because it had been happening to me since day 1 with the 6.1 and then again with the 6.5 T-Mobile ROMS The speaker is too loud and gets picked up by the phone's mic and then sends the sound of the person talking to you right back to them, and they hear an echo. It's the same thing that happens if you're using Skype with someone and your speakers are on too loud. You get stuck in a repeating feedback loop of echo.
did you try changing reduce noise in phone calls in phone advanced options from never to automatically?
I will try that now. I've had it on 'always' until now.
I'll have to try a speakerphone call later though.

I tried lowering the volume of the speakerphone and it still doesnt help.
To replicate this I used my home phone called my cellphone and went into another room. I can hear exactly what the person on the other line is talking about now. Very annoying, but there must be some type of firmware fix.
i have this problem sometimes..im thinking its the connection i get thru the towers

Tried changing these settings during call with no success.
I think the problem is sound bouncing off of objects close by. I found if I turn the speaker phone on amd place it too close to other objects people hear the echo but if I move it away the echo goes away.
So ive had two occasions since Wednesday where the person I'm speaking to isn't able to hear me anymore as im holding the phone. I can hear them just fine as they state askingg ifi could hear them. appened once before root and once again after. I checked to make sure that the mute buttosn't pressed both times and it wasnt.
Is this happening to anyone else?
This happened to me as well and when I lightly flicked where the mic is located it started working but after I restarted the phone it woulf stop working and no one could hear me. I just ended up exchanging it for another one and I no longer have the problem. Could be a defective phon so exchange it while you can!!

damn i wonder if this is a widespread problem.
you were able to just walk into tmobile and get a new one? i wonder if they're even in stock anymore where my store is.
i guess i have to flash back to the stock rom. will tmobile give me a hard time that it's been rooted?
This is driving me crazy. I bought the LG G3 about two months ago and a month in i dropped it and the screen broke. I had to wait three weeks for them to repair it because they ****ed up and I just got it back today and behold, I can't hear when people call me. They can hear me and I can hear them on both speaker and with headsets. There is no buzzing or anything like that, just no audio. The speakers work fine with everything else.
Before you answer, No, it's not on mute, yes I checked all the settings to make sure everything was like it should be and I even reset it to factory settings. Please help someone, i'm pissed of to no end and I would love whoever helped me fix this. I really dont feel like waiting another three god damn weeks for my phone back seeing how I've had it for not even a day now.

I had the same problem. Never dropped mine though. On hindsight, I recall a few people stating I was difficult to hear and vice versa up to a week before I ran into the same thing as you. Suddenly (as of last Friday, I lost all audio through the earpiece (speakerphone and BT were all that worked). I went in to a TMO store Friday afternoon and am happy to say I got my warranty replacement this afternoon. So far all is OK.
The whole thing was really disappointing. I had just gotten the phone as of 8/12
So ill try to keep this short.
Not so long ago i found out that when i call or someone calls me People cannot hear me. I came to the conclusion that my microphone just simply died out. When i try to record myself with the voice recorder all i hear is random annoying noise. But if i like slap the phone or scream loud enough i will eventually hear myself. To bypass this issue i had to use earphones which isnt a problem at all i prefer that honestly.
3 Days ago i was trying to call my Dad and he couldnt hear me at all. It was strange because i had my earphones on me. I didnt care of it that day so fast forward today i remembered that it didnt work by talking so i tested it with my brothers phone. Heres the weird part. When i dont have any earphones on and just try to talk straight up I can now hear MYSELF talking. Like whatever i say will just get back through my phone.
Then i got the idea to try out speakers instead. And this is where it got even more weird, almost scary. Here's the video of my brother recording my phone doing some strange noises after talking(TURN DOWN THE VOLUME A BIT): https://streamable.com/iwni0
At this point i have no clue as to why this is happening, where it even came from, anything at all. Im out of ideas. Nobody else as far as my research goes seems to have this issue. I'd appreciate any type of help.
Previously i was on ARHD 45.0 and earlier today i figured i'd try 53.1 again but no luck.
