I forgot to mention that I did use that one and it worked but keeps turning the phone off n its aggravating but that's the only one that my ps3 recognizes.
The wifi pre14 is the best one to use for your ps3 cause u need infrastructure support. Also wrong section. This needs to be in q&a

I've just been 2.0.7 stable from the market (ad hoc). So this version 3 supports infrastructure on the Epic?
How's it perform comp 2.0.7? Thought I read here somewhere about issues with ver 3?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
wireless tether "if not the carrier app" usually broadcasts an adhoc conection, i know my laptop had problems getting internet from it, idk if ps3 can even see adhoc, that might be your problem, i know if you have acs frozen rom they have a native app that uses the infrastructure wireless tether that you cant get out of a market app, try that it might work

No one has probably answered you because they cant believe you posted this. Not sure if you just got your phone and rooted but just a lil bit of searching would of let you know:
1. CM7 has built in hotspot - check it out under settings - wireless
2. There is an app on the market that achieves this goal as well. - just type in wifi in your market search
I see you are new here with not too many posts, my suggestion before they get on you is do searching till you cant search anymore then search again.
always read the OP - just trying to keep you from getting flamed next time
What does op stands for? And thanks for the advice

Since we can't permRoot our phones I haven't been able to use any of the regular Wifi Tether apps that require root and was wondering if anyone found a WifiTether that works with our phone with TempRoot. Or just for some reason they haven't worked for me. lol
Dude go check out the theme and app section I posted how to hack hot spot

I saw this but I'm kinda leery of this method. Oh and Btw this topic isn't really general, but more about development, considering the phone needs to be rooted to use most WifiTether, why is everyone on this forum so pissy about everything. lol

There's nothing sketchy about doin the hot spot hack its legitimate. Also the only reason I rooted was because of the WiFi and to get rid of bloatware other then that I luv this stock.
This was answered in another thread with a very similar title.
PDAnet is non-root friendly.

The ##778 method is legit. There's nothing more sketchy about it than using a 3rd party app, as you're still violating your carrier's terms of service.
Moved to general.
there is a way to use wifi tether and temp root, you have to run it via command line commands as it doesn't work through the gui.
/data/data/at.mysandbox.android.wifi.tether/bin/tether start 1
I installed wifi tether version 3, also make sure that wireless is turned on and not joined to any network before ruining the command. to turn it off, replace start worth stop in the above command

Hello do any body have the sprint tv for epic 4G the upgraded version.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
yes i would be interested in something like free sprint tv. i didnt even know one exsisted. i would like some free hbo and cinemax apps too.
This is probably the wrong place to ask for this. You want to go to an underground website where illegal activity isnt frowned upon.

I naturally agree with you, I'm hoping they mean the new version we might get with gingerbread not one that works for free. Hopefully in an ideal world.

Sprint tv is free for sprint customers, ive been using it for about a year with no problems on a flashed epic. They recently changed it to search for shows based on your location, which is where it errors out for me, so i dont think it would be "cracking" but more just making it work with our "sprint" phones (after all, we pay for the service). I WOULD LOVE THIS!!!! someone smarter than me please help!
It was awesome a while back when it had live comedy central but now that its gone there is no way I will ever pay for it
Sent from my spare Droid since my epic got jacked. Currently waiting on a guy to sell me his when his phone gets shipped

Sprint TV removal in roms?
Do all Gingerbread roms remove Sprint TV - if so, is it possible to get back, or is there no room in the rom and that is why it is taken out?

You can take the apk from a previous build and make use of it I'm sure you could do it from Stock EC05. It's in /System/apps

I saw Sprint TV in the market, under the sprint section, just the other day. Stock GB. I don't use Sprint TV so I didn't download it, but maybe you can find it in the Market to install.
I found a way to get it to work. Turn on Wifi Launch it. It will ask to turn off wifi and then launch very odd. Otherwise it wants to download an update and it fails on install. If someone has a newer one that would be great.

So I have wired tether 1.4 from the google code website. I can't seem to get it to work though. What version are ya'll using?
Rather than everyone make a new thread for every question about CM9 there is a tip sharing thread in General that a lot of helpful people visit all the time and Jdelano is the man at reasearching and getting you answers right here in Q&A:

Not flaming, just noticed a lot of new threads popping up and some (not this one) are for questions already answered in those other threads. Thanks.
I've seen people ask about tethering in all 3 threads. Question never answered. so I thought I'd be justified in making a question thread.

I understand. That is why I said it was not really directed at you. Sometimes you have to take the direct approach like this. I only use wireless tether myself. Sorry. Wasn't there an issue with the stock kernel and you had to use shadowkernel or something like that?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Its no problem man. I understand how we have to be sometimes around here. But yeah I tried shadow and it still didn't work. It would turn on and all that but it just wouldn't get picked up by my computer.

I've tried a couple cables. Both work fine on cm7. So I dunno.is it confirmed working for anyone else? Maybe I have a bad flash or something.

OK, you got me curious so downloaded Clockworkmod tether from the market and the PC drivers. I am typing this tethered on CM9 with it right now. I haven't used a wired tether since PDAnet before rooting so was a little rusty.
OK someone owes me a beer. I spent the last hour getting wired tether 1.4 working on CM9. IMPORTANT: USB debugging must be off. With cable unplugged and usb debugging off start the Wired Tether 1.4. Click to start tethering. Now connect the cable to the PC. It will install drivers (again...I know). When it completes the driver installation a new network will appear and $$$ Profit.

Haha, just glad to help and also any others having the same problem.
But can I get some clarification? I am looking for methods to usb tether but everywhere I look on here are fixes for wifi tether. Now am I correct in thinking wifi tether is the same as mobile hotspot because that works flawlessly atm. USB tethering works but only when my phone is on wifi, if on 4g I get the dreaded "pay up sucka!" screen.
