Any TempRoot friendly wifi tether? - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Since we can't permRoot our phones I haven't been able to use any of the regular Wifi Tether apps that require root and was wondering if anyone found a WifiTether that works with our phone with TempRoot. Or just for some reason they haven't worked for me. lol

Dude go check out the theme and app section I posted how to hack hot spot

I saw this but I'm kinda leery of this method. Oh and Btw this topic isn't really general, but more about development, considering the phone needs to be rooted to use most WifiTether, why is everyone on this forum so pissy about everything. lol

There's nothing sketchy about doin the hot spot hack its legitimate. Also the only reason I rooted was because of the WiFi and to get rid of bloatware other then that I luv this stock.

This was answered in another thread with a very similar title.
PDAnet is non-root friendly.

The ##778 method is legit. There's nothing more sketchy about it than using a 3rd party app, as you're still violating your carrier's terms of service.

Moved to general.

there is a way to use wifi tether and temp root, you have to run it via command line commands as it doesn't work through the gui.
/data/data/at.mysandbox.android.wifi.tether/bin/tether start 1
I installed wifi tether version 3, also make sure that wireless is turned on and not joined to any network before ruining the command. to turn it off, replace start worth stop in the above command

Call Sprint and have them add it to your bill.
$30 a month though!
Yep...Sprint will fix you right up!
I thought the first unrevoked you could.. heh I don't remember though.. I would just root because it would take just as long to figure out how to otherwise. What's stopping you?

This whole thread is.
You need super user permissions (aka have root) to be able to do this. If you choose to get rooted you just need the wireless thering app and not sprint's hotspot. Rooting is extremely easy. Just read up and ask questions in here (and NOT dev section)
You can have a completely stock rom but be rooted.

Rooted epic 4g? how & why?

may i ask what a rooted epic will do? & how does it compare to an original epic?
Honestly if you don't know then you probably shouldn't be rooting or even considering rooting in the first place

seconded. this entire forum is basically about rooting and what it does/what you can do. you shouldnt have any trouble figuring it out
Thirded.
If you don't know what it is, you haven't read enough.
If after reading you don't know what it is, you still haven't read enough.
If after reading more, you still don't know what it is, you probably have some reading comprehension issues, but also search and read some more.
Starting a new post as your FIRST post on XDA asking people to explain to you what it is, UGH.
shouldn't this be in General?...But for starters, I would recommend beginning at the one-click root forum, and whatever you do, don't be scared to brick your phone, I have yet to brick mine and I am constantly flashing my phone! Good luck!
Come on guys. Really? Is this the kind of community we want to be? Everyone's gotta start somewhere. Just suggest reading up first, and point him to where he's gotta go. Remember, there was a point where you didn't know what rooting was either.
Well since no one wants to be nice...
Rooting is basically giving you root access to the phones operating system. The reason for doing this is to allow you to customize and optimize your phone for your specific needs. The two biggest reasons for rooting are the ability to remove bloatware and for flashing custom roms/kernels. Rooting also gives you access to programs in the market that require superuser permissions (root).
The difference between an unrooted epic 4g and a rooted one, unrooted is a handicaped device that is little more than a fancy toy that can browse the web and make phone calls. A rooted one is really what ever you want it to be. A cool toy or an amazing tool or both.

Thank you, holy crap so many evil people in the world why are slipping into XDA? Just answer the question, did we not all start at 1 post?
To add to that, Rooting gives you Access to tether your internet connection from your epic to a laptop wirelessly, This is the only reason i'd root the Epic.

why are you making multiple threads about the same thing?
Yeah man...just use Odin and go back to stock D118...fairly easy.
@ luvjones305
I would've expected someone who has been here almost a year to know how to search or at least not to spam the forum with reposts.
The "official update" will probably suck anyways. I would just wait until one of the developers has a ROM ready. I'm sure it wont be long
uh huh
first of all yea i signed up a year ago it don't mean im on here 24 hours like i don't have a life an if you cant help don't post nothing on here go cry some were else an i already search through here
It is physically painful to read your posts, I mean come on "yea"? Seriously? And that wouldn't even be such a big deal if you weren't a total prick to everyone, whether they were legitimately trying to help you or not. I am hard pressed to think of anyone who is anywhere near as big a prick as you manage to come across as (assuming you're actually not a total prick when not protected by the anonymity of the "interwebs").

So that means the forums are segregated now? Gotta stay with your own kind and can't look at what's going on with other devices? I'm all over the sgs family, nexus boys, general, android and ot. It's kinda nice seeing dev from all over. Integration is good.
I don't deny that, just trying to avoid the off chance someone flashes a Rom not for their Galaxy S variant and has a "DOH!"moment
Haha hell no man. I've already spent the 2 bucks at radio shack for my jig. Only had to use it once. I mostly just trawl the themes and apps for other sgs's but I love watching people loose their minds when an ota hits like the op here. Lots of craziness in general for yall right now.
You should see the n1 now. 2.3 dropping for those guys and they have one thread about it, over 150 posts, and only two people on stock to pick it up. That's how it should be.
Edit nvm, they got 3

lets get a bounty for a terminal emulator root method or one click

Sorry for this thread and it might be dumb to somewho are a little more savy with odin and computers. I had over 12 android phones nexus, evo, nexus s,g1 mytouch 3g n so on. Never had to root using odin it was usually unlocking bootloader or just using terminal. It would be greatly appreciated if this could happen and im sure there are many people that think same way. So please if u wanna bash me n say i shouldnt root if i cant use odin then fine but this is a new method and so would alot of other ppl cause it seems we have a good development crew popping up roms n mods n kernals right and left. If a bounty is needed i will be more than happy to donate. Ty for your time.

The odin3 method is honestly very simple. You literally can root your phone in less than 3 minutes with the click of a button. I've used terminal emulator and adb methods of rooting and I can say that the only other easier method other than odin3 that I've used was z4. You can do it. Just have faith and confidence. Terminal emulator is much more harder than using odin3.

Just follow directions it is so easy. when I had my sgs4g I felt the same way, then I grew the balls and used Odin. That wasn't to root it was to convert to gb but believe me when I tell you it is easy and pretty much flawless. Just do it follow steps

Odin might be one of the simplest ways of rooting around. Although in the vibrant days it was extremely unreliable. No so any more, its pretty much rock solid.

One of the great things about XDA is you dont have to be all that tech saavy and there are plenty of people to help with questions.
However, one should make an honest attempt to familiarize themselves with all of the tools available.
You have nothing to lose and you just might learn a lot from the experience. Then it might be your turn to help someone else

[Q] New to a rooted android phone

Ok, I am new to this business of rooted phones, custom roms, and mods. I had someone root my phone mainly to help with battery life and to be able to use the wifi/tethering without T-Mob charging me extra or eating up my data plan every month. I have installed a 3rd party wifi app and it works fine but my data is still being eaten up. I have seen where people are saying the stock rom needs to be changed 1st. How do I do that? What is a custom rom and which 1 do I need, also how do I install it. I will be the 1st to admit this whole thing is foreign to me. I need help. Anyone willing to hold my hand and teach me? I'm a great student. Thanx for your time...

I did have another question though. I did a bunch of searching and found a lot of stuff but none of them have helped me with my new problem. Here goes, I would like to use my phone as a wifi hotspot or tethered hotspot without it eating up my data so fast. I have seen that it is possible to do but like I said I can't get any of them to work right. They work ok but it is still chewing up my data. T-Mobile already charges me too much for data and I would like a work around I can use. Let me know if anyone can walk me through the steps. If you need more info from me just let me know...
T-Mobile has some of the cheapest data rates around.
Their capped/throttled data plans include hotspot functionality. The " truly unlimited plans" do not.
Also check the play store. I know of one called " foxfi" that a friend has had luck with.
