Well i was trying out the Kingdom rom with 2.3.3 and sense 3.0 and my 4g took a minute to load up and never connected so after waiting 3 minutes i forgot to load up the icons also so i restarted it and tried to put the icons on. In the process i backed up my stock rooted rom because i didn't want to get another rom. But i tried it. And no im not a newbie i did it plenty of times with my evo lol. I won't even let me restore my backup'd image.. Stupid huh. But please if anyone could help me get a link to the stock 2.2 rom. I will be truly helpful. Please and thank you in advance.
If you actually took 10 seconds out of your life to look, you would find MANY threads with the stock roms. The stickies at the top of each page are a great way to find these.

I am so confused some people say they have used toast method to root 1.32.651.6 and others who say that it is impossible, can someone please help me. Thank you
Regular simpleroot
I almost feel bad...all I saw was ".6" (Thinking it was referencing 2.2) and I was about to facepalm.
Some have had problems with the original simpleroot (I was one of them)...go here:

I was a total Android/Linux noob when I got the Evo. I came from WinMo and as far as modding goes, it felt like I went from Champ to Chump. Read, make mistakes, read some more, fix your mistakes, and learn. It doesn't get any better than that. Just remember, we are a community that is here to help, not do it for you.
Finally ROOTED!!
OK guys i have rooted my EVO thanks to u guys. I have installed Froyo DeOdexed RevE.1, I have downloaded rom manager from the market. Now do i always have to wipe every time i load a new rooted rom? Also do i have to go into the shell with evo connected to PC to get to the menu for wiping and loading roms? Do i also have to load the updated radios and wimax or do the rooted roms come with them already? Many thanks.

Wiping is advised when flashing a new ROM, unless you are upgrading to a newer version of the same ROM (or if the author says no-wipe is required). Wiping is almost always required if you are changing between different ROM.
You can enter recovery by turning phone off, pressing power + volume down, or booting into recovery from apps such as Rom Manager, Spare Parts, Quickboot.
Heres the main question at hand before you read my large summary.
1) Why is my ROM's boot image looping constantly?
2) Do I have to NAND again if I revert to a nandroid backup that was made before I nand'ed my phone?
Time for the long, and mostly pointless, summary:
I'm pretty desperate to get things running on a Gingerbread ROM, if you didn't notice in my last topic 2 hours ago.
Anyways, I'm trying to get cyanogenmod7, Stock Gingerbread 2.3.1, or heck, even eVOKINGS-gingerbread ROM to work.
So far, i've tried Cyanogenmod7 and Stock Gingerbread 2.3.1 on my evo; none of which have worked past the boot screen.
Lets take stock gingerbread for example:
I downloaded the new cyanclockwork recovery rom off of rom manager and flashed it after a *long* process of nand'ing and rooting again.
Then, I powered down, booted up, and went straight into recovery in the bootloader. I went to install ROM from SD->chose the .zip .
after waiting for awhile, it said the upgrade was complete (upgrade?)
*notice: the installation bar didn't move at all durring the installation process, if that makes a difference
I rebooted, and was greeted by the HTC screen while it spelt out q-u-i-e-t-l-y-b-e-a-u-t-f-u-l
Nothing happens after that.
It just shows the HTC screen again, getting stuck at the B in beautiful. Pretty much just looping over-and-over again.
Same thing happened for Cyanogenmod7, I was constantly being looped through the skateboarding-droid figure.
I'm doing something wrong here obviously, because all these ROM's have screen captures from a EVO 4G.
Does it make a difference if I use Clockwork recovery 3.0.0.7/6/5? or 2.6.7?
Please help.
I know all my questions are rather long and complicated, but im sick of being ignored at every forum (ubuntu forums, black ops, etc.)
Or I'm impatent and overestimated your forums activenes. No disrespect to the forums or devs (I thought your forum was really active)
Edit: If I for some reason can't get a 2.3.1 ROM to work, would someone kindly point me to a stable Froyo ROM they think is the best?
Have you use amo-ra?

I'm pretty sure you will still have nand unlocked. The only way you wouldn't is if you unroot.

Thanks
I should face-palm myself. I just read the sticked post and I'm going to try some of his suggestions. He pointed out why cyanogenmod wouldn't work.
My whole consept of the framework went out of the window, and now I think of it more like a standard linux distro, in terms of kernel->ROM relationship.
I don't think I need to have a custom kernel for the Gingerbread beta-4, but i'll look it up just in case... Though I don't have a clear idea on how to flash that.
And to the person 2 above, im using Cyanclockwork. For whatever reason, I like its design verse RA recovery. I might try RA recovery just to see if it works better, as everyone has said it does.
I think i needed to clear all my caches and then load the ROM.
So I did a wipe of everything (data, darvik, cache) and trying to install the GB ROM. My boot screen is *still* looping. Do I need to get another kernel? Is it like flashing a ROM? Where are they at? I didn't see any in the software section...
ok so I had to try the 2.2 out and the bugs are killing my experience. i am trying to revert back to stock .downloaded the pit and tar and am trying to use odin. my phone is stuck at 1/2 way mark after 20 min so far on downloading screen. since all the links are 404 ed i downloaded odin 1.7. the stock pit and stock tar. it takes 2 hours for me to download the big one. what can i do now?stuck in factory yfs?
Just do a battery pull and resart odin
odin is sensitive but just keep trying should take about 5 mins
and please post in correct section
what is the corect section and retried what you said 3 times. trying the 64 bit computer now, and man are you fast.
Should've been posted in the Q&A section
Here's some more info...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Samsung_Galaxy_S/SPH-D700#Odin_Stock_Flashing
i Recommend you do this if you can get into recovery b/c it's flashable (no need to use odin)...

Moved to Q&A, please post in the correct section.
i looked and double checked and found out I was trying to flash dg 27. to get the stock one i guess its going to be 4.5 hours unless anyone knows where else to download it faster if i dont find one
is rapidshare good and how much do they soak you?
yea it'll take awhile to download lol just be patient its a huge file
Well I. Can say its a learning curve. I have finaly odined the stock flash(I think) and ended up with a broken gps so I installed clockwork 2.5 and downloaded the stock rom flashable from cwm. That fixed the gps and I backed it up. Next I tried flashing another 2.2 rom, broke the gps again and tried restoring to the backup but it failed. Reflashed the stock d17 again that got me back working from the 2.1 to 2.2 to 2.1 again but the android market didn't work so I. Reinstalled again and no gps again and soomehow I think thbis is the rom that doesn't alow kme to shut the phone off, just restarts. I want to go back to stock working everything again. Is that possible? What cwm flash rom will get me there again. That 2.2 just screws me every time.
I have read several threads on this but I feel I need to explain some things first.I recently purchased a HTC EVO bout to weeks ago.I decided to root and install some custom roms and kernels. The rooting process was a success using unrevoked 3.3.1.I also flashed MIUI 1.3.4 first then wiped cache and dalvik then tried to flash MIUI 1.3.5 update all in the same recovery session but it failed to install the update portion. So as of now Im still running MIUI 1.3.4.That was the first EVER custom rom install after rooting.Anyways as u kno one step I did fail to mention is doin a nandroid backup on the factory rom which honestly I really dont remember doin.So my questions is will I ever be able to go back to factory software 3.70.651.1 since I did not backup? Im serious thinking of unrooting and goin back to factory(original) cuz I prefer HTC sense better! I hav read some threads on using unrevoked forever and downloading the right RUU.Please any one, with the info I hav given help me with the right steps to do this process.Or am I SOL? Please include links and anything else that would help.
Download the s on zip from unrevoked3 site then run the ruu. But before u do that try warm rom or mikfroyo rom. Both r sense roms that kick ass. Much better than original rom but still have sense.

What is download the s on zip? Do u hav any idea where I can find the right RUU for my phone? Ive heard of people flashing the wrong one.But thanks I think Ill try one of those roms or maybe even both before I unroot.Ive actually heard good things from both. I just want a stable rom cuz right now on MIUI 1.3.4 am havin problems with usb connecting (like no mount, charge only,or even usb debugging options showing up anywhere). My comp shows its connected but WONT let me open sd card. Nothin showin up on my notification bar so I hav to take my sd card out and use an adapter directly into a usb port on my comp. Also no 4g and no ffc, which really sucks.Other then that awesome rom.
hey im new to the forums and to rooting so if this is in the wrong place then i apologize but i need help fast. so i rooted my droid incredible with unrevoked 3 and followed all the steps 100% but when i put the zip files for warm z twopointtwo and other assorted roms and flash with ROM manager, the phone looks like its doing everything but when it boots back up, it looks EXACTLY like stock HTC sense, exactly like when i turned on my phone for the very first time. what am i doing wrong? please help me
thanks so much

thats normal after you flash a new rom you have to go through those steps everytime you flash a new rom ..... go through type in all your info like the day you did when you first bought your phone and once you finish setup you will notice the differance..... if i misunderstood you please explain in more detail and i will help
most roms play off of the standard looks and feel of the stock sense. if its a different interface you want try one of the vanilla roms like cyanogenmod.
