these are the official stock RRUs from HTC and also phone carriers, find the one for your carrier and install..... to install the RRU to your phone all you have to do is install HTC sync on your PC, connect your phone to your PC using your USB cable, then run the RRU........ easy, will unroot your phone and return it to how it was when you took it out of the box.
I did download it but install stops with error 171 usb cable not connected.

I'm having the exact same problem. Sorry if I'm hijacking this thread.
I'm currently using the Telus HTC Desire.
Phone Info:
Android: 2.3.3 (Gingerbread CM7 Stable)
Baseband: 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
Kernal: 2.6.37.4-cyanogenmod
Hboot: Alpharev Hboot 0.93.0001
Radio: 5.11.05.27
My problem is that I've been having issues with the hardware. The USB charge port connector is somehow bent and makes the cable loose. I'm afraid one day it won't work at all to charge or maybe even break off. I'm still withing my warranty period, I would like to flash back to stock rom.
Now here's where my problem starts. I try to flash the Telus Froyo stock rom, and I keep getting usb error 171 - where the computer can't communicate with the phone, basically times out on waiting for bootloader on the screen.
I tried second HTC desire that I have, a friends, which is loaded up with the same bootlader and CM7 and tried to flash it back to stock - and it also fails
with error 171.
I've tried 3 different cables, and two different PC's. Two different HTC Desirse phones. All fail.
My only hope I think would be to install the stock rom via SD Card, is that even possible?
I managed to download the OTA_Telus_Froyo.zip from shipped roms. I need help as to going about flashing the phone via perhaps SD card?
Not hijacking , pretty much same problem as me. I need stock room but every time 171 error , whatevrr i try, its like an issue with bootloader, ntw mine is dame like yours.
I need help and if guys here dnt solve it no one will

Try the PB99IMG method
Try the PB99IMG.zip way.
Do a search for this and it will tell you how to flash the stock rom from sdcard.

Tried it and nothing extractd file then stops. Also my cid says htc__038 if that matters but i created gold card for this.
Any other ideas guys?

Yup same here. Tried that and it failed. Maybe I wasn't using the right file? I renamed the ota froyo upgrade from telus to pb99img and booted into bootloader and it looked as if it were reading or loading something, then Nothing. Did I do it wrong?

Yeah u did that wrong. You need the FULL ROM file from an RUU not an OTA
Read the guide I did here on how to extract the PB99IMG from an RUU

should work if you have a non-branded handset - else you might need a goldcard.
I haven't delved much into custom ROMs yet - but AFAIK you should be able to just run this straight over the top - it will remove root etc. right back to stock

Use some logic...the RUU file is an .exe, which is a Windows program. This would mean you have to run it on Windows. Then you'd be presented with instructions for the rest. Use a little common sense
why not try another custom rom . it's great fun

As above - it actually has full instructions while running the RUU.
but for basics you click something like 'I agree to return my phone back to the stock image, and confirm that I know it will wipe all user data etc. etc'
Then click accept to 'I agree that it must be above 50% battery life, and connected to the PC via USB cable' - then I think it verifies that it can find the phone, then says something about it will replace the current image with the stock image (2.29.405.5), then basically just says wait a couple of minutes, your phone reboots and flashes for a few minutes (I think with a big HTC logo and a progress bar), then when it's done it says DONE! and your phone reboots into the welcome wizard as if you turned it on for the first time...

from forum got some bug on it, and recovery dont recognize it correctly.
Just to be sure...
After putting 1.30 rom, I try to put 1.33 on update in recovery, and also, only BOOTLOADER and RADIOs got updated.
So, if you want to debrand, you need to use 1.30, then try to update your system over air (OTA) to newest version. I think that will be easier.

hi! i've extracted the rom.zip from ruu (google ...).
Formatted my memory card (system settings), no goldcard.
Rename rom.zip to PG76IMG.zip and put following file on the sdcard
Boot to the HBOOT menu -> hboot install automatically bypass -> system updated.
no problem occurred
P.S. Excuse me for my bad english
Hi all, so I've been trying to update my hboot from 0.75.0000 to .93 but have been FAILING miserably. I'm currently on ICS, and have tried alpharev which didn't work. Trying to flash rom to RUU has also failed but I don't know why. Flashed my radio to match the one with the RUU and that didn't work, which i'm guessing is due to the inability to simply flash from ICS to 2.2 or 2.3?
So my question is, any other tips?
Try to flash the hboot downgrade from alpharev then the right RUU. If that works you can root and s-off your phone with unrevoked/revolutionary. If you want to change hboot to cmr7 or data ++ (example) you MUST be s-off......

Thanks for tip, I've actually done alpharev and it also failed. Reason being it needs a rom that doesn't already have a2sd, any suggestion as to which rom is suitable?
Thanks
Edit: I've actually online done the hboot reflash, and not the downgrade. Will give that a go first and see what happens.
I think that all the rooted roms have some sort of a2sd, that's why I think you have to start from the beginning. Start with an original ruu.bring it back to its original state wich came out of the box...my knowledge doesn't reach that far ;-) its the easyest way I think.

MICROP-031D
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-4.05.00.11
MAR 5 2010,21:12:15
Still I think what's best is to go back all the way and install a ruu. Then go directly to revolutionary. It will root and s-off your phone and installs the custom hboot.
Maybe I have more time to help tonight, I am at work now :-(

Is it possible that your phone is branded by provider, in that case you have to create a goldcard first. I have no experience in this. Hopefully I am pointing you to the right direction.

Hey there, firstly I would like to thank you for ALL your help and of course the effort you've put in it.
I've actually fixed it by firstly going to page ~16 of the android development forum for the desire, get an old rom, flash it in and then performed the alpharev. Lo and behold it worked because the rom is reasonably old and a2sd was "new" then. Flashed it back to ICS now and I am proud to announced that I S-OFF'ED!!! Partition done and OFF I GO.
That's great !!!! Have fun with your fixed desire )))

@bjornzzz Any suggestion on which rom you flashed. I've arrived at this boot loader while going back to stock from alpharevx hboot / ics rom.
Flashing an Ruu before flashing the alpharev downgrade didn't help much. LOL
Hello all,
My wife has the Virgin Mobile version (CDMA) HTC One V. She wanted me to install a new ROM for her. I've had ROMs on it before, but she got the OTA from Virgin Mobile and didn't tell me. Well I've been trying to put all sorts of different ROMs on it, and everyone has had the bootloop bug. I traced it down to the radio being updated to 1.00.00.0928. I've found posts saying to get the RUU, extract the rom.zip and rename it to PK76IMG then put that in the root of the SD card, then let HBOOT take care of it. It fails every time. Flashing recovery_signed.img and then running the RUU also fails. Well, come to find out my HBOOT version is 1.57 and as far as I can tell I'm screwed.
Am I screwed guys? I mean do I have any options in getting a working phone out of this? I'd be happy just to get it back to stock, but at this point it's looking like I have a nice paperweight that lights up.
If there is any help or info you guys could give me I'd be very appreciative. Thanks in advance.

try to use fastboot mode.
start the ruu on windows, before pressing any buttons, start a search window.. in the top of the search window ( like you are going to type a www. address) type %temp% and hit enter. on the top of the search, you will see two folders that have many nunbers and letters for the name. in one of them you will find a "rom" zip extract it and inside you will find recovery_signed.img. put it in your fastboot folder
put your phone in fastboot and fastboot flash recovery recovery_signed.img
now run the ruu utility

Thanks for the reply. Sadly, I've already tried that. Same sort of error. It gets through the signature check and then when it reaches the HBOOT part of the installation it gives me the error saying I have the incorrect version of the RUU, but I'm using the same RUU I've used in the past with no issues.
I really don't have a good answer. Maybe try one of the new ion kernel ROMs that support the new radio
phone: HTC EVO 3d flashed to cricket
H-Boot: Jbear 1.50
ROM: Dirty Unicorns
phone: HTC one v cricket
rooted and romed
ROM: provisions

Before you RUU back to stock make sure you relock your bootloader by fastboot oem lock then go back go fastboot and launch the RUU

There was just another ota on virgin other than the new radio one...it may be the cause of the problem. Crappy part is it adds nothing, just have to stick with beyond's or Simon's codefirex. Also someone just uploaded a kernel that works with the new radio for myone, I highly recommend it.

Also if you want to return you need to relock the phone (as said before) flash back the stock recovery (you did that) AND flash back the ORIGINAL kernel (nobody said that but this is needed too).
You can get the stock kernel from the RUU you have downloaded the same way as the recovery image. Search for the boot.img or boot_signed.img and of course flash it from fastboot mode.
Try it, hopefully it will work.

I don't think u need to flash the original kernel just the recovery as the RUU installs the original kernel for you

I know you have to relock... I've flashed the ruu at least 3 times on mine and my sister's I was just saying because there is another ota update, not just the one updating the radio. But another one after as well that comes with this sprint 4g message. I'll try and downgrade again for the sake of curiosity. I'll get back to you guys soon.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, but I'm still unable to get it back to stock. The HBOOT in the RUU is older than the one on the phone so it won't allow the RUU to work.
Is there a way to rollback/downgrade the HBOOT?

Yes, so your hboot and radio are updated
is this the ruu you used?

That's the ruu I usually use, and I can confirm...after the latest ota on virgin you won't be able to downgrade back. It updates the hboot.

That is messed up if they aren't able to downgrade this

It wouldn't be too bad if we could get Simon's radio fix on every kernel, the data speeds are noticeably faster with the otas so I don't mind much.

Yeah that's the one. Unless I'm mistaken it's the only one available to download.
Same Problem
Nothing substantial to add. Just wanted to say that I'm experiencing the exact same problem. I've got the CDMA HTC One V that I flashed with the latest RhythmicROM. It booted up fine but quickly manifested the boot loop. I tried restoring to my CWM backup, but that gets stuck in the boot loop too (does that sound right?) I followed the instructions in the "ROM Randomly Rebooting?" thread in the General Forum, but encountered the same error when trying to run the RUU. I used the following RUU: (RUU_PRIMO_C_ICS_40A_Sprint_WWE_VM_1.08.652.6_Radio _1.00.00.0521_2_NV_VM_3.46_0503_PRL61008_release_2 62414_signed.exe). I have the updated radio (updated to 1.00.00.0928), and the updated HBOOT (1.57).
A couple people have mentioned ROMs that support the new radio. Can someone let us know exactly which ones those are?
Thanks!
Edit:
Just noticed that the RhythmicROM does say it has support for the new radio. I didn't add that up until just now. I'm hoping that it will work.
Edit 2:
I was able to get the Rhythmic ROM working successfully with the OTA Fix that is listed and linked to in his thread. The OTA_fix.zip file contains an updated version of boot.img that I flashed (using fastboot) after installing the ROM.
Simon's and beyond's codefirex both work, as does the cdma myone. It just depends on the kernel you can use for the rom. Most devs started using Simon's fix so we should be pretty good moving forward.

So I've been trying some of the ROMs and kernels you guys suggested. They boot into Android and I get a popup that says Android is updating... optimizing file 1 of 394 or whatever... It gets through a few of those and reboots. I let it go all the way through until there were no more files that needed to be optimized and... reboots endlessly.
