it is to my understanding that you should be able to turn on GPS satellites on, and it should only run on demand. aka when you open Google maps it comes on, close maps and it goes off. For some reason my GPS and icon stays on all the time unless I turn it off manually. every time I install a Sense 3 ported ROM, I wiped and never restored anything with titanium. I turned on the GPS and it was activated and wouldn't go off till I turned it off. I froze all system applications with titanium and it still stayed active. Anyone know or know where I can find a fix please. tried Google but most posts about the problem date to 2010 and are irrelevant to fixing my problem.
If your using a pure Sense 3 rom, CoolSensation or what ever it's called, expect bugs. The only way to tell if it's a rom related problem is flash another rom and see if that works fine.
Well it turned out be an application as to why it came on after a full wipe and no restore I can't say but I uninstalled it and re-installed it again from the market and problem is fixed. thanks for your reply.
Hello all! Just curious if anyone else is having GPS issues with stock FK23? I was having problems in the past with my GPS but now it seems completely dead. Right after I updated to JB tonight the GPS worked perfectly. It locked on immediately and was able to load stuff extremely quick. Then after about an hour of fooling with the phone I went to update my weather and nothing... tried navigation and nothing... I downloaded GPS Status to check things out and it just keeps searching, it can't pick up anything.
Any suggestions/thoughts/ideas?
Thanks~!
settings > location access> gps source
see if "use internal gps" is ticked.. try ticking/unticking and force close any gps app and reopen app or reboot.
any luck?
oh shoot... stock, nvmd but go to location settings and give a shot to checking and unchecking everything anyway. Can't hurt.
Up until recently my GPS has been working great. Fast locks, good accuracy, no problems. I was on MA7 rooted/deodexed. About the time I started getting nagged about MC2 udpates, my GPS started having intermittent issues getting a lock and maintaining. And it has only gotten worse. Often, I can get a lock immediately after I reboot, but after a minute it doesn't work anymore. Today, I updated to MC2 rooted/deodexed (as well as the firmware) and still have the same issues. I can get a lock immediately after booting, but after that nothing can get a GPS location. Some apps will grab the network location, but not GPS.
Has anyone else experienced this? There was no change in ROM between when the GPS was working and when it stopped. Any ideas on what I need to do? I'm trying to avoid fully wiping the phone and setting everything up again if possible. But if I can't find a solution, I just may have to do that this weekend and see if it helps.
I appreciate any suggestions.
Update: I cleared the running applications and was able to get a gps lock again. I think my problem has to do with something I have installed. I will have to do more testing.
Have you found anything new? Because I've been having major problems as of late
Yes one of those threads again, I do apologize in advance..
The GPS on my E973 is useless, I tried the GPS status app and its trying to lock for 30 minutes now, doesn't work outdoors, indoors, anywhere.. I checked the settings, everything seems correct, A-GPS data is downloaded..
I'm running stock 4.1.2 but rooted (GPS wasn't working before root either).. Tried this app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44113974#post44113974 but it didn't work..
My previous phone (GS3) had exact same problem whereby GPS would not lock at ALL. The only fix that worked was NAM REBUILD in one of those Samsung hidden menus, it fixed the problem and GPS would even lock in my basement!
Are there any similar fixes for LGOG, can someone please help me out to find solutions? Thanks
bump,
anyone else have GPS issues with this phone?

UPDATE: GPS WORKS. I just went to settings, opened/closed GPS and made sure everything was ticked off.. Reset phone.. Then went outside and waited for 10 minutes and it locked on.. I used GPS Status App, reset A-GPS and downloaded new data..
However, it took a while and isn't as consistent as I hoped it would be, only locks onto 6/15 satellites... Unlike my friends GS4 and Nexus 4 which gets 20/21 satellites locked on.. Its also not good indoors..
But I'm just glad it works..
I've tried everything, but nothing seems to make Waze and Google Maps works. I've always used Waze in my car, but since the KK update I can't manage to make it work. When I use GPS Test I can find many satellites and even get a lock. The only thing I find odd is the accuracy of 200ft, witch I think is too big. Now comes the curious part: When I open the GPS Test app, keeping Waze in background, Waze gets a lock and I get all the voice directions. When I bring Waze back on screen, it looses the GPS signal again. I’ve tried everything from Stock Rom, Bobcat Rom, Hyperdrive Rom, X-Note Rom, and nothing. Always wiping cache, Dalvik, etc. I’ve tried many apps like GPS Status, TopTnp, GPS Test, Faster GPS, etc. Nothing changes. The last thing I did is a procedure on the system (*#0011#, reseting the NV), but again nothing. I live in São Paulo, Brazil, and God knows the caos of traffic here, so I really need Waze. It’s been a month now, and I don’t know what to do. You guys are my last hope. :fingers-crossed:
T-Mobile Note 3 X-Note Rom.
Man I'm pretty much getting the same issue.. I'm on the Heisenberg rom.. And never had any issues with Google Maps and I use it almost everyday.. But every since the update that put the voice control mic on the screen... Google maps been sending me all over the place..
I've tried the "solution 1" in this link, and this time it worked. The only thing I did different is enter MENU>END before rebooting. Now Waze is OK!

try the last post it will rest the gps and it will fix it
sometimes flashing many roms and doing rooting or bad update **** up the gps driver

I tried all the codes and apps and even tightening the screws, but nothing was working. It was when I took the phones back off and looked inside that I found the answer.
Now that my Waze GPS is working again after being out of action for over 3 months, I thought I would share my Waze GPS fix with everyone by making a quick youtube video,
I can't yet put a link here so just search youtube for 'Waze No GPS - Resolved'
Hope this helps
My GPS lock failed all the time
I fixed my note 3 failure to lock at all (No Fix) by removing the back cover, battery, sim, and sd cards, I checked and found several of the screws loose, tightenied them snug, reassembled, booted, and got a fix within 3 seconds. I got the idea from your video... Thanks very much!
Glad it Helped
