ive been researching how to do it and i havent found a clue to do it im trying to install a infected rom and it wont do it because i nee to update to the edifiy script but i have no clue to to do it... can someone please tell me what i have to do my current kings rom is relly bad for some reason
Clockworkmod took out Edify scripting a while ago. You can roll back to a previous version that has it though. I don't know much about ClockworkMod, because it was unstable as hell and didn't wipe correctly.
I would suggest ditching ROM Manager and ClockworkMod, and come over to the AmonRa world. Much more stable, and has both Edify and Amend scripting.
If you want ClockworkMod for whatever reason, use 2.5.1.2 or below. 3.x.x lacks Amend.

Well, since i'm Installing a new Rom onto my phone, i've cleared everything from it. But the bad thing is, is that Clockwork Mod 3.0 wont let me Flash any Zips. Everytime i attempt to flash a Zip, In This case a Rom, this is the abortion message im getting
"amend script(update-script) is no longer supported
amend scripting was depreceated by google and android 1.5
it was neccacery to remove it when upgrading to clockwork mod 3.0 gingerbread based recovery.
please switch to Edify scripting (updater-script and update-binary) to create working update zip packages.
installation aborted."
Help! What do i do :'( My Phone is Like Useless Now.
I'm not sure, but I think you could try doing this. It'll turn your amend file into an edify one (compatible with cwm3). I've never done it before though, so I can't tell you how well it works. You could also try getting an older recovery PBxxx file to flash in hboot. they're around here somewhere

Sounds like ur Tryn to flash a file for clockwork 2.5. Thats the amend thing.check Rom for clockwork ver required. There is a amend to edify script out there to letu flash 2x files w/3.

Get a different ROM that supports v3.
AmonRA
Either use 2.5.1.2, use AmonRA 1.8.1, or use amend2edify. Also, not to be a d-bag, but shouldn't this be in general Q&A?
I had the same problem. Download 2.5.1.2 as a PB31IMG.zip and update thru HBOOT and go to recovery.
Here's a link to the recoveries ---> http://dougpiston.com/?page_id=85
I got the following message attempting to update my radio version to 2.15:
Amend Scripting (update-script) is no longer supported.
Amend Scripting was deprecated by Google in Android 1.5
It was necessary to remove it when upgrading to the ClockworkMod 3.0 Gingerbread based recovery.
Pleases switch to Edify scripting (updater-script and update-binary) to create working up zip packages.
Installation aborted.
I am very sorry for bring up dead horse type topics, but all the research I try and do leads to circles for me. I'm as experienced with all of this (hopefully someday).
I tried to follow the instructions from
wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=HTC_Evo_4G:_Full_Update_Guide
Is there another way to trick this update into installing maybe?
I used RomManager v3.0.1.1 and used Install ROM from SD Card. It probably flashed the message I got above but I wasn't able to see it.
I used Recovery mode and tried to do it manually, which is where I was able to see the error message..
I have an eery feeling I should be using Amon Ra vs. ClockworkMod ??
thank you!

I agree that you should be using Amon Ra recovery. I would change to Amon Ra, and then try flashing the radios. That shouldn't give you any troubles. I'll attatch a PC36IMG of Amon Ra. Download it, be sure it is named PC36IMG, and put it on the main directory of your sd card. Boot into the bootloader, wait for it to scan and then ask you to update. Select volume up to accept the update. It will then flash Amon Ra V2.3. Once it's done, boot into recovery. It should now be Amon Ra Supersonic V2.3. Try flashing the radio update again, and it should work now
Thank You very much for the help!
It worked perfectly!
And.. I see Nandroid now!
The radio update took affect after the reboot and hopefully I'll see some results from it.
Now to get the nerve up to put a ROM and kernal on, although I don't know if I need a new kernal, but the update guide I looked at said the cyanogen rom should be installed with the Toast kernal.. so I suppose I'll do that too since it's seems to be what everyone else has been doing too..
Thank you again for the help/advice..
Hope one day I'll b

Your welcome. I'm glad it worked out well. And you should have no trouble flashing roms, as the radio flash is far more 'dangerous' than flashing roms or kernels! Just be sure to make a nandroid backup of your stable system before changing roms or kernels. And wipe data, cache, and dalvik before a rom flash. Wipe just cache and davlik for a kernel flash. You'll be all set.

kernels
Last question, hopefully..
I've been reading up on whether or not to install a kernal after the rom.
I decided I'm going to try the MikFroyo4.5 Rom or cyanogen 6
It seems there's a debate as to whether or not an updated kernel is needed.
I decided on: netarchy 4.3.1-cfs-havs-nosbc
My big question.. Do I really need to do this?
I did a Nand Backup and it went well.
I'm going to do another in the morning because I'm paranoid, and clear off the backup files from my SD to my local hard drive, and make a list of the apps I have on it.. although I uninstalled quite a few just because.
I tried Titanium backup and it's installed, but the icon doesn't show.
So it sounds to me like my 2.1 is ready for retirement!
The most confusing part is to me is the kernel's.. I must have blinders on, I can't really find a real reason to update them aside from possibly more battery life or a speed enhancement?
If my 4G breaks.. it was meant to be!
Thank you!

You don't have to change kernel if you don't want to, but there's really no reason not to, as long as you have a solid nandroid backup to go back to. Roms come with a kernel cooked into it already, so its not required that you change it You always have the option change kernels, and there are various reasons to change them. Every phone may run differently on the same kernel . The kernel that comes baked into a rom may be great for one guy, but horrible on your phone. It takes a bit of playing around to find out which kernels are best for your phone. You may notice that with some kernels, your battery life is garbage, or the phone lags, or you get random reboots etc. Others you'll find perform great and have great battery life. A kernel that runs good on one rom may or may not run good on a different rom. There are a lot of variables, and as I said, you need to find out which ones work good for you, by trying them out. And be sure to use sense kernels on sense, and aosp kernels on aosp (goes without saying, but I've seen people make that mistake)

I'm getting prompted in ROM Manager that version 3.0.0.5 is available, but I remember when it first came out it wouldn't let people go into recovery or update their roms/flash ZIP files. Is it safe now? I've been holding out for a while out of fear.
Also, anything new or better from 3.0.0.5 that I'm missing out on?
3.0+ Has faster backups, and updated for the most part, and most important, its running on edify. Not a lot of people are using edify packaging, but if you wanted to use CM7, you have to use CWM 3.0+ or amon_ra recovery.
So if you don't plan on using CM7, staying where you are at is fine.

I already have CM7, but I'm still on 2.6, not 3. So does that mean I should update?
To minimize the possibilities of errors, I would update.
I use 2.5.0.7 and cm7. runs fine, I refuse 3x because it won't touch amend while 2x will still
Running Myn's warm point 2. Flashed fine months ago. Used rom manager to do so. Now I updated the Clockwork mod in rom mangager to 3.05 (something close). Since I've updated I get this message if I try to flash ANYTHING.
Installing update....
Amend scripting (update script) is no longer supported
Amend scripting was deprecated by Google in Android 1.5.
It was necessary to remove it when upgrading the clockwork mod 3.0 Gingerbread based recovery. Please switch to edify scripting (updater-script and update-binary) to create working update zip packages.
Update aborted.
WTF do I do???

You have to downgrade to an older version of CWM, as 3.0+ doesn't support amend scripting [the error you got,] or flash amon_ra 2.3.
CWM 3.0+ only supports edify scripting and most devs/themers/ect will specify if its edify compatible.
the problem is cwm 3.0 and up doesnt support the scripts that me and a bunch of real devs use. flash amon-ra recovery for many added benifits, including being able to read both amend (old) and edify (new) scripting, and wiping dalvik cache correctly which cwm doesnt do. its worth it. you wont be able to control it through rom manager, but thats not really a big deal.
edit: didnt notice teh roxxorz's post ^^^. we said pretty much the same things.
double edit: WOW how did you get so many thanks?!?!?! you must be helpful

If it is doing what you want and you're not having problems with it, then don't fix what isn't broken......but if you're curious to see the changes, go ahead. Use the ROM Manager app to effortlessly switch back and forth between the two.

Cwm 3.0+ does not support amend scripting. Just stay with what u got or switch to amon_ra

Amend scritping it what?
ROMs/kernels are built on either Edify or Amend scripting. Lots of things are still Amend, so keep your current one or move to Amon RA. Just my advice.
+1 to amon ra2.3
