I did a little research and came up with nothing.
Now, I know that the screen isn't damaged, as the pink changes from white to white, like something white on the screen may be pink, or it may not be.
I tried messing with the brightness and all that, and no luck.
I took a video with my sister's Android Samsung Transform (I've gotten her on Android!)
Here's the video:

Some whites are pink, yellows are orange, and greens are a yucky color...
Could be a cable issue. If you half-slide the phone up you'll see a ribbon there that connects the screen and the actual phone part together... maybe that's it. Sounds a bit drastic but see if reinstalling the ROM fixes it. If not unroot and hit the store
Edit: Have you overclocked the phone? Recently installed any apps?
I checked the ribbon connecting the phone halfs together, and it's in mint condition, not bent or tweaked.
I want to try a better ROM, I'm just running the boring stock one.
Anymore ideas anyone?
It sounds like the ribbon personally. Probably a connecter on one of the ends. I'd probably hold off rooting and trying other roms if there is a suspected hardware issue as you will have to unroot and flash stock to return.

looks like the screen isnt showing green to well if at all, this looks like its a hardware problem to.
I have no idea what kind of hardware issue this would be...
Ribbon has come loose in one of the connectors. You get a similar effect with a dodgy DVI cable on a pc.

Yeah, get that phone replaced. If you have it rooted then I would attempt to unroot. If unrooting isn't possible then we can corrupt your hboot partition and make it look like a bad board (which would also get you a free replacement)

I've been told the reason this happened is solely because I rooted the phone...
However, the phone has had no other problems since it turned pink...
(Other than being sluggish and slow, but hey, that's Android) Oh! I've always had problems with my apps2sd, but I've learned to deal with it, by restarting the phone 50-60 times a day until all my apps load...
What do you guys think?
I have heard of "risks" in rooting, but since I have rooted several Android devices over the years, I haven't had any major problems. (Other than the fact that my G1 ran so hot it would burn you and it fried the circuit board and all the internal components of the phone and swelled up the battery twice it's original size...)

try calling HTC warranty department, but don't tell them you're rooted lol. they should cover this
I talked to them to get rid of dust under the screen and sent it in still rooted. Don't think they cared about it being rooted, but when I got it back everything was reset lol

My g2 has been experiencing screen issues lately. I'm pretty sure it's a hardware problem, but I'm going to ask around to make sure. It is rooted with Virtuous .0.7.4 running on it.
It just happened overnight where there would be a line of dead pixels at the bottom of the screen and a black bar on the right side. Everything seems to be blurry and choppy, any help? Thanks.
You could try a different ROM like CM and see if it does anything. Not going to do any harm... but I think realistically it's very unlikely to fix anything either.
Very much sounds like a hardware problem. Since the screen isn't physically broken or damaged (right?) this should be a warranty replacement.
Well, I kinda bought this brand new from someone, does this still qualify for a warranty? Thanks.
That's a sticky subject. Is it a G2 or DZ?
If a DZ I would think HTC will honor the warranty, why not?
If it's a G2, HTC might tell you to pound sand as it's a carrier phone.
As far as what TMO will do for you, there's a bunch of variables there... are you a customer? Was the phone bought at full retail or at subsidy? etc...
I'm honestly not sure though.
If you have to deal with TMO, I think your best bet is to go through the person you bought it from, if at all possible.
Please let us know what happens as this is a very interesting question.
It is a G2. Looks like I'll be ebaying this and finding a new one if nothing pops up.

I see replacement screens on the bay for around $70. Sure is cheaper than a new G2. Of course you'd need to be able to put it in yourself. There's a pretty good tear-down guide.

If its a G2 and you're a current tmobile customer in good standing. Just give em a call and they will give you a free replacement even if you bought the phone from someone else. Yeah, if you actually read my other posts, T-Mobile gave me a replacement also. I have to unroot and restore everything back to normal before I ship it first though. Thanks for your response.
Ok so I bought the wife a new G2 about a month ago from T-Mobile. The phone is great and we have both been loving it. Earlier this week the wife mentioned that she was unable to use her phone a couple times because she couldn't get the screen to come up. I messed around with it for a while and eventually it started acting up again. While using the phone, the screen would start to flicker (go between the expected image and a black screen), almost as if the backlight was going out (yes I know there is no backlight with OLED), and then the screen went blank. The screen was black for almost half an hour. I tried pulling the battery and rebooting, the screen never came on and the phone booted up completely. Since it was still useless I went ahead and pulled the battery again. I let it sit for 3-5 minutes and powered it back up. The screen came on, started to flicker a bit and then went black (this is at the HTC boot screen). Eventually the phone came back and now it hasn't exhibited the problem in a couple days. I have noticed that this doesn't seem to be a problem with the Z-hinge (seemed like a likely cause at first), as playing with the hinge doesn't seem to make it flicker or reduce the flicker when its happening. At this point I am 90% confident this is a hardware issue unrelated to the z-hinge. Perhaps a faulty LCD driver chip or a improperly seated ribbon cable on the motherboard side. Feel free to offer any other suggestions.
so... the phone has been rooted and has Cyangenmod installed. In order to get a warranty claim on this I will need to flash the phone back to the original TMO rom. This should be as simple as just flashing the stock .nbh file through the boot loader right? I need to do this before the screen permanently dies on me and I have an expensive paperweight. My other question is if anyone knows whether T-Mobile will send me a new phone replacement for this? I'm under the impression that when you do a warranty exchange you are sent a refurbished model that has been repaired. The phone is only 1 month old and I don't want a refurbished 6 month old phone to replace it, although I don't know if I really have many options.
Okay what method of prem root and s-off did you do? Because if u used the 1st method of prem rooting and s-off useing unforgivens way you need to hex edit to properly flash the PC10IMG.zip stock rom or u will get simi bricked phone. Am not familer with rage so I can't really explain that. As for gfree method you should be fine flashing the orginal stock rom but have more procedure to turn on S-on

I used the gfree method described here http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#Rooting_the_G2 using the full method that does the radio S-OFF, Super-CID and simunlock.

The G2 has an S-LCD. An better LCD screen developed by Sony.
HTC started to use S-LCD because samsung couldn't make enough AMOLED screens for HTC's Desire phones.
Background Information:
-Rooted/S-Off Mytouch Slide
-CM7 7.0.3 since release
-Radio: 7.15.35.16
-16g Adata Micro SD
-Brand new Fresh SIM
-Water Damage. About a month or so ago I dropped my phone in water. Wasn't pretty, but after a few days of drying out it was working perfectly fine as if nothing was wrong with it.
-Random reboots(after water damage)
Issue at Hand:
Early this morning I was just using my phone as normal and suddenly it just froze and rebooted. Usually this is fine and it just starts back up, but this time it just stayed at the Splash Screen. I had a thought that this was just the rom being screwy so I was able to get into the Bootloader, but when I select Recovery it boots and sticks at the Splash. I'm thinking i just need to get a new Slide since i have insurance, but with it being S-Off/Rooted that could be an issue. I have my back up G1 to use at the moment, but I would rather be using the slide.
What I need:
Anyone have some ideas that could help with this issue? Maybe even a way to flash a Rom via ADB.

Thats going to cost me $150 that I do not have at the moment, and if there was something I could do to fix it without replacing it I would like to do that.
Yeah, insurance is costly even after you pay for it. Kinda blows chunks. Warning though, if you go insurance route you won't be able to S-Off again. I received 4 phones (Refurbished Phones suck and don't always work), and all of them had the updated HBoot. Just an FYI.
OK, I unrooted the phone. Still running stock 2.2, says no OTA updates, even though it told me prior there was. The screen is not broke, as the pink changes, and isn't present behind the menus, which tells me it's a fixable problem. I can not send the phone in, so we have to fix it ourselves. Please help me with this issue, it's been like this for about 6 months now. I also factory reset it. I am getting sick of it. Please and Thank you. Here is some screenshots.... How am I able to use the screenshot application which requires root, yet I am unrooted and S-ON...? (Those are not the actual colors on the screen, but you get the picture) And this has nothing to do with brightness or auto brightness.

I'd bet that you have a loose ribbon in there that needs to be tightened. Here's a very comprehensive guide on how to disassemble your phone. Check all the connections, and make sure nothing is loose (especially the ribbons).

That can't be, why would everything be fine underneath the menus and such?

If you've factory reset it, unrooted AND gone back to a previous ROM, then you've *ELIMINATED* all possible software causes. You've changed every piece of software, and the problem hasn't gone away. There's nothing else. It *HAS* to be hardware.
The "white" that you are seeing under the menus and lock screen is not pure white, but it has been "greyed out" by the transparent menu. That is why it looks OK. Only pure white is turning pink. It has to be hardware. Either a loose cable, or something funky with the GPU.
Even if you're not with T-Mobile, the phone has a 1 year warranty with HTC. As long as there's no physical damage, or water damage, then they should be able to repair/replace it. Contact them regarding what your options are. You'll probably have to pay for shipping, but that's way cheaper than a whole new phone.
It is as tun4f1sh and dargoncitfer said... if you've factory reset and that hasn't cleared the problem, it's most likely something with the hardware. If trying to tighten the ribbon cables doesn't work, it sounds to me like an LCD problem. I had an LCD that had a strange red splotch on the middle/right section of the screen, but only if it was on a black screen (like the menu screen). The rest of the time, whenever the background was any color other than black, the red splotch was not there. I replaced the LCD screen and the problem disappeared. Looking back, though, I wish I would've sent it to HTC for them to repair... it would've been much simpler.
I contacted HTC. Why am I S on but yet the bootloader that you are rooted still comes up? It won't let me OTA either.

Hi All
For the last couple of months my desire has had an intermittent problem with the touch screen. All of a sudden it decides you're trying to pull down the "notifications" screen when you're just touching the touch screen, sometimes it also decides you're trying to hold and drag when you're just tapping the screen, sometimes it simply stops responding. These problems are usually solved by tapping the top button and putting the phone on standby then tapping it again and waking it up - although sometimes it then won't let you drag down the screen unlock until you repeat the on/off standby procedure a couple of times. The problem varies on connecting my phone to my computer.
Given that in between these instances the touch screen works as normal I'm guessing it shouldn't be a hardware issue, but the intervals between these problems appear to be getting shorter (either that or I'm just getting more annoyed by it recently). I've had a quick search of the forums and haven't immediately found anyone having this precise problem. Is it likely a question of trying factory reset and if that fails sending it for repair?
Thanks in advance

Well since the OP didn't respond here's my suggestions. If you think it's software then just flash to a stock rom. You should find a number of them lying around the forums, and instructions on how to flash. This will mean your phone is unrooted and will need to be rooted, as well as taking care of installing a recovery and etc. This should correct anything wrong with the software.
Otherwise you busted the digitizer, which is actually very cheap to buy on Ebay. You will have to take the phone apart which can be time consuming.

Thanks for the quick response. Before coming here, I had a mobile service shop take a look at my handset and he had mentioned that for HTC desire z, the "touch screen" comes with the "display" attached to it. Did he meant the digitizer only or (digitzer + LCD screen) or he was simply trying to rip me off ?
I am very sure that there is nothing wrong with the display on my handset, its only the touch functionality that is not working properly.
Which one of the following do I need to search on EBay?
gultek.eu/htc-spare-parts/digitizer-touchpad/desire-z.html
or gultek.eu/genuine-parts/lcd-modules/htc/desire-z-hd3.html
or both?
Thanks again in advance !!
You need just the digitizer, if you're doing it yourself it takes about an hour if you've never done it before, don't buy the lcd if you don't see a flaw in it.
Some people sell the whole front chasis with lcd, digitizer, front bezel all connected for ease of replacement. May be easier but you will only shave of 30min tops and spend 3x as much

yeah this happens to my G2 a lot. I got my phone fixed a while back (2-3 months ago) becuase the colors on my screen were screwed up and the ear piece was broken. i took it in and he replaced a couple of cables. it worked fine but now sometimes the screen is just having a straight up seizure. it flips through pages so fast and it goes from page 1-2 and back and forth and then the virtual keyboard presses multiple keys and just its crazy. i feel like the guy that fixed my phone didnt plug in a cable all the way. but yeah thats my problem. i dropped my phone the other day and ever since my phone hasn't gone into a seizure lol
Hi, did you solve your problem? I have the same with my desire Z. It click alone in several place on my screen.
And I ask me if the problem don't come from the lcd digitizer control instead of the touch screen digitizer

Yes replacing the digitizer did fix my problem. And a year later the replaced digitizer started giving problems. So I ordered 2 extra digitizers off ebay. Both of them turned out to be duds. Surprisingly the second digitizer(which I replaced a year ago) fixed itself.
I think Im having the same problem,
bottom part of screen (including the home, menu, back, search buttons) aren't functioning half the time,
is there any service manual, or link to information as to what I need to tear apart on my DZ?
should this be enough? EBAYLINK
