[Q] MMS Question for people running 2.3 Sense ROMs - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

EVO 2.2 Sense based ROMs don't obey the MMS size settings for incoming pictures. Regardless whatever setting you use, incoming pictures are always compressed down. The MMS settings only seem to apply for outgoing messages..
This wasn't an issue with the 2.1 Sense based ROMs. I'm just wondering is this also the case with the 2.3 ROMs?
For people that want to test this out, take note of the size and dimensions of the picture you send and try sending them to yourself: http://www.pixdrop.com/
Or try sending yourself a pic through whatever messager application you have. I'm curious what the results are.
Thanks in advance.

Am I the only one curious about this?

[Q] Evo AOSP MMS Server On Boost

Does anybody knows if there is a way to change the MMS Server settings from Sprint to Boost on an AOSP ROM? I checked different threads but the majority of them talk about Sense ROM's. Don't see to much about AOSP. Any help will be appreciate it.

3.5 roms and the 160 character limit

So I've tried and really liked many of the 3.5 roms including newt's, NRG's, V's, and a couple of Blazes. Liked em all and appreciate all the devs' hard work.
The only issue I have is the inability to send a txt over 160 characters. I'm wondering if I've missed a 3.5 that has the ability to do this. It's really the only thing keeping from having 3.5 as a daily. I could care less about 4g and some of the other issues.
Thanks
Alternate text messaging apps seemto solve it try go SMS from the market

Yeah, I know. Part of the reason I like sense, though, is trying to keep with the stock apps. I actually really like the 3.5 sms and was hoping to not have to look elsewhere.
I should mention that i do love go sms. Run it with all aosp roms.

AOSP apps in UKB

Hi All,
I've been running Aero's CM9 for ages but would like to give Nit's UKB a shot. One thing I despise about Sense, however, is the messaging app; and I'd prefer to use the ICS AOSP messaging app, as well as dialer / contacts.
I understand that Nit's installer lets you choose which of the Sense apps you want or don't want (so I'd imagine I'd unselect the dialer / contacts / messaging / whatever else I don't want), however I'm wondering how to properly import the AOSP apps to replace them.
Looks like I could rip them from my own CM9 install and copy over via the method described in this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1735507 - however it seems that the AOSP messaging is hit or miss in terms of getting MMS working properly.
I'm curious - has anyone here successfully replaced any Sense 4 apps with their AOSP equivalents? If so, what steps did you take?
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Best regards,
-Dirk

[Q] Looking for senseless ICS Rom still being updated

Does anyone know of a senseless ICS rom that is newer than this one? Something based off a Sense 4 base.
I would love to go the CM route, but I love my Sense Mail. No other mail apps have come close to the way it handles multiple accounts, subfolders (both imap and exchange), and even message threads/grouping.
I didn't see anything here besides the one mentioned above and some older 2.x based ROMs.
Thanks

Yes. I'm can't claim to understand everything about ROMs, but from what I've read you need Sense to have Sense Mail.
Every thread you read about someone wanting HTC Sense Mail app on their non-HTC phone or ASOP ROM, ends with something to his effect:
You need x, y or z from the Sense 'framework' for Sense Mail to work.
The Sense Mail app in Viper is great. I just want to have something with the default launcher removed, but the other stuff intact and run a different launcher.
Can I safely freeze, disable, or remove the "HTC Sense x.x.x (Desktop) without trashing my phone?
I'll also take suggestions for alternate mail apps, but they need to have the following functions;
ability to sync subfolders (exchange and imap)
an "all messages' view per account
grouped message threads
I'll attach some screenshots to try and show what I mean.
The last time I tried some of the ones out there (free and paid), I didn't get all the functionality I was looking for.
Why don't you just download an alternative launcher and leave the Sense launcher be?
And yes you can freeze things one by one to see up to what point the ROM will still be stable then simply delete them

MMS text issues with AOSP Roms, but works fine with Sense Roms

Hi everyone,
Been looking for a fix for this, I honestly don't care for Sense Roms (unless you can mention a good looking one - So far SOS seems nice). I love JBL's Sprint 1.7 Rom and love it, but I can't receive MMS text messages, they fail to download - this happens with all AOSP Roms I'm using.
Anyone else encounter this issue with other AOSP Roms? I also have the issue with Handcent, but not with Sense based Roms - again, perfer AOSP.
Any suggestions or help would be forever appreciated.
Thanks.
I have the same problem I fixed it by turning off auto retrieve and using gosms. I used to use chomp but they wouldn't work with chomp either
Also yes this works on jbl sprint 1.6 at least where handcent didn't work for me. Awesome rom and my daily
