To port over the iPhone emoji? its getting a little lame not to have a universal emoji.. but surely if Handcent can do it the system should be able to..
Found THIS
Download, unzip, replace /system/fonts file of same name, reboot. It only covers about 70ish% of emoji. Better than 0%.
Nandroid Backup before flashing... you've been warned.
So it zips it into correct spot or do I have to by hand?

Unzip and physically put the file in the directory listed but nandroid first.
roger.. doing now. Thanks man.
Ok, hate to be an idiot here, but I was taught the only dumb question is one un-asked.. Astro will not move the files or replace.. seems maybe the system is using the font? If I can do this in recovery then I am unsure of how.. little help on the moving of said file and replacing?
Sorry man.. maybe I am missing something?

That is the system folder [internal memory] and astro can't access it, well write to it; you'd have to use root explorer to paste it there.

This. You must be rooted to have superuser permissions (access to write to the /system partition).
Use Root Explorer like roxxors said, give it SU permissions, navigate to your system/app folder, mount R/W at the top right (read/write) and then you can long press on items to delete or modify the apps and permissions.
Remember you have to mount R/W before you can edit, paste, move things into, or otherwise modify what's in /system
Its ok as long as you get it figured out.

Dude, that sucks man. I saw your post about it earlier and how someone said "Did you have a phone locator app?"
I've used locating apps in the past, but being a performance freak I try to keep my phone pretty barebones. Hearing your tale of sadness makes me wonder about reinstalling it.
Wouldn't do much use if the person who took it knows the first thing about Android. Not that I ever would but if I stole an EVO first thing I would do is turn of GPS and do Airplane Mode and either uninstall locating apps or do a factory reset.
But maybe someone found it on accident and it will be at the lost and found tomorrow?
Or maybe this is God's way of telling you to switch to the EVO 3D when it comes out!

Well me being the mini guru I am, keep my gps off when not in use, and had no locator apps, and called my mom to call sprint and deactivate it and but a bad esn on it [which they did]. Its rooted, with all the bells and whistles, so I don't expect to get it back, and like I said, its been deactivated...and have to use a "shudders" blackberry for like 10 days, til i get the replacement. And it may be...
well works mostly.. still a few I still cant see, but it seems to be working! Thanks guys.

Glad that you got it working man.
This might be just my good luck, or a quirk of the original stock ROM, or maybe my own ignorance; wasn't sure, so I thought I'd inquire.
On the stock EB13, my camcorder couldn't record more than 30 seconds or so of 720p footage before timing out. I poked around and initially folks indicated that I'd need to get a faster miniSD card, something Class 6 or up. So I just put it aside.
After flashing to the Syndicate Frozen 1.1.0 ROM, on a whim I tried the 720p video recording again . . . and it didn't stop or shut down like before. Kept right on going, in fact.
Now, my question: is this a side-effect of EXT4 vs. RFS? Or formating the SD card? Or something in the ROM itself? I ask because I intend to use the phone as my emergency back-up camcorder . . . I'd like to know if I should go ahead and invest in a faster SD card, or if it's going to be fine as-is.
Thanks!
It was very likely fixed by formatting your SD card. I've never had problems with 720p video (well, on the SyndicateROM series, anyway), and I always format my SD card when there's some kind of oddity that's pointing ten fingers at it. Video failure, Gallery or Camera lockups... they're most often systems of an SD card needing a swift kick in the pants.
Glad it's working well for you!

Do you just save your pictures/files to, say, desktop, and then format the SD card? And then flash everything again? I've never done that, so curious as what needs to be done after.

All you have to do is copy what you want off of the card, format it, and copy it back on. No need to reflash anything.

Actually, those banners denote ACS members only, so if you could remove it, that would be great. Our older userbars are static - if you'd like, grab one from here. Thanks for your support!

It is, I'm really pleased with it . . . but all the more frustrated with Samsung as a result, if it makes any sense.
Now I'm torn on my next phone: do I get an HTC, which has a decent track record of support . . . or do I get a Samsung knowing the Development community will fix any problems they seem incapable of addressing?
Hi all,
So today i get my new 16gb class 4 transcend replacemenr card because i THOUGHT my previous one was broken BUT. the same problem in the replacement
I format the pc thru pc and clockworkmod to make sure evertthing is ok.
Then i insert the card in my CM7 AOSP phone.
Now its starting.. almost every app crashes.. i.e. when i go to settings>>sd card = lobg black screen and then crash fc setting.
Settings>> manage applications= long black screen andmost of time crash.
And almost everytime when i want to wake up the phone.. only the hardware keys are lighting up and no screen.= pull battery out!
Almost every app crahes with the 16gb in it!! And its not the card cause its a replacement of the prevous one.
And no, not even one app is moved to the sd card so everything is on PHONES internal memory.
I formatted the sd like 20 times.. no luck
Now i tried my 16gb in a sense rom, wich i dont like lol and its working great!!
so its a AOSP rom problem or something and its with redux, cm7, devnull etc. Just all aosp rom.
and i got a bluetooth keyboard wich im using alot and it doesnt work on sense so i want to have an aosp rrom.
And my 8gb card is working absolutely great on AOSP roms.. just the 16gb!!
Please can soneone help?
Thanks!
Nick
Take it you done a proper full wipe then flashed fresh AOSP rom?

Sounds daft but maybe the SD port on the motherboard isn't supporting 16GB cards properly? You could give HTC a call or your carrier.

Thats what i thought too.. tmobile has already repaired y desire cause of the rebooting etc. So they replaced the mobo.. but WHY is it working great in sense rom then.. i dont understand...
Maybe it doesn't like AOSP? I have a 16GB card and AOSP has worked fine in the past.

I guess you could just use the 8GB card for now until some guru like TheGhost comes on or EddyOS or someone else.
Aw come on, no one does know it ?
Aw man, please? EddyOS ?
lol it depends if they're on. I don't see them as often now. You could try to PM them but could take ages. Like I said, get that 8GB and use that for now until someone posts a solution.

I just updates to the leaked bravo GB rom.
Then suddenly with the 16gb in, it says 'sd card unexpectly removed'.
But it was just in.
So putteed it out and in and so far its working.. Lets see how it acts today and tomorrow.
I just putted cm7 on a friends desire + my 16gb and it was working with no problems!!!!!!!
And my 16gb is now working good in sense roms, but still not in cm7..
So think its really hardware related
I use 32 GB ADATA class4 on Sense and it's OK, it's not so slow, but on Gingervillain 2.2 was very slow.
it still happening.. both AOSP and sense.. but in AOSP it crashes the phone almost instantly. and with sense i can use it for a day, then it crashes, pull battery out etc.
Hardware. Send it back to HTC.

This is what HTC just posted on their FB page
To resolve Desire's memory issue and enable the upgrade to Gingerbread, we will cut select apps from the release.
Look for status updates starting next week. We apologize for any confusion.

it's a Joke. XDA Devs can make Gingerbread and Sense 3 and the Stuff of HTC must cut any Apps. Oki, XDA Devs use the SD Card but why cant HTC? All Phones have a SD Card 2Gig or More. i stay on Insercoin Rom

Average Joe (Jane) users won't be able to partition the card and all the stuff needed for that
I see many ppl wants a Gingerbread without sense, but as I've tried GB on my Hero, I don't see why ppl want it. The only features I miss from GB are the features provided by the CyanogenMod team. What I think HTC should've done was to release a ROM with Froyo and Sense 2.1

Exactly this, someone else who has common sense. Seriously, guys, get over it. We're getting it so just wait. Personally, I reckon HTC should remove all apps available on the Market to save space

i agree
and move stuff like htc stocks to htc hub so you can download it - if you want.
in fact this would be a FAR better way to go for all roms - I hate all the junk that is added to roms for no good reason. I thought Android was all about choice but then you can't uninstall stuff like quickoffice after they have dumped it on you without root

That sounds a very dtraight-forward way! They won't have to think much in this case. Hope people will accept this in OTA and not blame HTC for removing Market apps.

Spot on Eddy. Once we get HTC on board then we need to concentrate on all the carrier specific garbage that gets added as well, which imho, is the worst of the lot.
Official GB release is good on two counts - for those who like stock it's good news, and for the devs it's good too as it provides a new base etc. for cooking.

To be honest i actually dont know, their are claims that its googles fault, or sammy's fault or even the ICS software thats installed....each points fingers at each other, cant say for sure other then the post i showed u that would be the answer, but other then that, all the card is good for is to store ure movies, pictures, CWM nandroids on it so u dont have to install em on ure internal card. so yes ure right thats all its good for, if u decide not to go the swap ext2sdinternalsd way.
