This might be just my good luck, or a quirk of the original stock ROM, or maybe my own ignorance; wasn't sure, so I thought I'd inquire.
On the stock EB13, my camcorder couldn't record more than 30 seconds or so of 720p footage before timing out. I poked around and initially folks indicated that I'd need to get a faster miniSD card, something Class 6 or up. So I just put it aside.
After flashing to the Syndicate Frozen 1.1.0 ROM, on a whim I tried the 720p video recording again . . . and it didn't stop or shut down like before. Kept right on going, in fact.
Now, my question: is this a side-effect of EXT4 vs. RFS? Or formating the SD card? Or something in the ROM itself? I ask because I intend to use the phone as my emergency back-up camcorder . . . I'd like to know if I should go ahead and invest in a faster SD card, or if it's going to be fine as-is.
Thanks!
It was very likely fixed by formatting your SD card. I've never had problems with 720p video (well, on the SyndicateROM series, anyway), and I always format my SD card when there's some kind of oddity that's pointing ten fingers at it. Video failure, Gallery or Camera lockups... they're most often systems of an SD card needing a swift kick in the pants.
Glad it's working well for you!

Do you just save your pictures/files to, say, desktop, and then format the SD card? And then flash everything again? I've never done that, so curious as what needs to be done after.

All you have to do is copy what you want off of the card, format it, and copy it back on. No need to reflash anything.

Actually, those banners denote ACS members only, so if you could remove it, that would be great. Our older userbars are static - if you'd like, grab one from here. Thanks for your support!

It is, I'm really pleased with it . . . but all the more frustrated with Samsung as a result, if it makes any sense.
Now I'm torn on my next phone: do I get an HTC, which has a decent track record of support . . . or do I get a Samsung knowing the Development community will fix any problems they seem incapable of addressing?

Just curious since CM has this function... Being a new Amon-Ra user this seems like something that would make the users life much easier. I previously has all my custom things in a folder on my sd called EvoDev and roms in one folder, zip mods in another, etc.... I now must leave all my stuff on root of sd or move back and forth with a file manager if I want to do anything.
I'm not mad or anything, just curious as to why Amon-Ra doesn't have this ability. Anyone know?
P.S. - Sorry if this is wrong section but I didn't view it as a general Q&A... It was more specific to a function of a program that is used daily in development so I thought this would be the appropriate place to ask.

because he hasn't implemented, 2.0 is on the horizon, there is potential its going to be implemented, however something so simple can easliy be worked around
2.0 can but amon-ra hasn't ported it over to the evo yet.

Are you saying there is a way to make it see past the root? I can't figure it out. Please elaborate..
If you are just saying it is easy to work around as in it is easy to just move my files to root of sd.... Well sure, it isn't hard to do..... but it does take more time.... And say you are doing something complicated requiring flashing a few things one after the other... Well... That becomes a bit of a PITA if you ask me... Especially after using CM for so long....
I like Amon-Ra better actually... Aside from the lack of seeing past root of SD...
As I said, I'm not mad, just wanted to know if maybe a change was in the works or if anyone knew a way to force seeing further.
no way around it, but if you are by a computer, enabling USB mode allows you to mount the SD card and manage it while in recovery.

yup, whatever says usb, you hit it, connect up your phone and its just like hard drive mode when your phone is on, life saver especially if you jack up something or wipe everything but forgot to move a ROM to the root of your HD

Yep, I always use usb-ms mode when I do some flashes/updates since it's quick and easy. The file explorer would be a bonus, but amon ra is great the way it is. As long as I have my nandroid backup includes my 4G RSA keys then that's all that matters.

i'm sure it will be implemented in the evo build soon. just be patient.

Hi all,
So today i get my new 16gb class 4 transcend replacemenr card because i THOUGHT my previous one was broken BUT. the same problem in the replacement
I format the pc thru pc and clockworkmod to make sure evertthing is ok.
Then i insert the card in my CM7 AOSP phone.
Now its starting.. almost every app crashes.. i.e. when i go to settings>>sd card = lobg black screen and then crash fc setting.
Settings>> manage applications= long black screen andmost of time crash.
And almost everytime when i want to wake up the phone.. only the hardware keys are lighting up and no screen.= pull battery out!
Almost every app crahes with the 16gb in it!! And its not the card cause its a replacement of the prevous one.
And no, not even one app is moved to the sd card so everything is on PHONES internal memory.
I formatted the sd like 20 times.. no luck
Now i tried my 16gb in a sense rom, wich i dont like lol and its working great!!
so its a AOSP rom problem or something and its with redux, cm7, devnull etc. Just all aosp rom.
and i got a bluetooth keyboard wich im using alot and it doesnt work on sense so i want to have an aosp rrom.
And my 8gb card is working absolutely great on AOSP roms.. just the 16gb!!
Please can soneone help?
Thanks!
Nick

Sounds daft but maybe the SD port on the motherboard isn't supporting 16GB cards properly? You could give HTC a call or your carrier.

I guess you could just use the 8GB card for now until some guru like TheGhost comes on or EddyOS or someone else.

Aw man, please? EddyOS ?
lol it depends if they're on. I don't see them as often now. You could try to PM them but could take ages. Like I said, get that 8GB and use that for now until someone posts a solution.

I just updates to the leaked bravo GB rom.
Then suddenly with the 16gb in, it says 'sd card unexpectly removed'.
But it was just in.
So putteed it out and in and so far its working.. Lets see how it acts today and tomorrow.
I just putted cm7 on a friends desire + my 16gb and it was working with no problems!!!!!!!
And my 16gb is now working good in sense roms, but still not in cm7..
So think its really hardware related
I use 32 GB ADATA class4 on Sense and it's OK, it's not so slow, but on Gingervillain 2.2 was very slow.
it still happening.. both AOSP and sense.. but in AOSP it crashes the phone almost instantly. and with sense i can use it for a day, then it crashes, pull battery out etc.

Hi folks. First post and I need your help.
I formatted the microSD card that came in with the phone (because of being a noob and clueless) and now the wallpapers and themes from LG are gone. Will doing a hard reset bring them back? The phone is a little wonky since I did that but not to a point that it is unusable.
Thanks.
No. Resetting the phone will not bring them back.

This is what I have in my card right now;
-android_secure
-Android
-bluetooth
-calendar
-DCIM
-download
-droidhen
-GOLauncherEX
-Lost.dir
-music
Can someone please verify what I am missing? And maybe I can download them from you.
Thanks.

I haven't formatted my SD card since I got my phone (just picked it up less than a week ago) and I don't see any theme-related files on it.
I am not sure what I actually lost but I cannot find the few wallpaper that came stock. But we can put this to bed now that I know that I still have the stock launcher. I thought I lost that, too.

Yep. I have some awesome wallpapers (some went away when I formatted) downloaded and those HD photos are really good on this phone.
It might be a little late for this reply, but anyway, make sure you download your wallpapers to your internal memory, so when you happen to format your sd-card again for whatever reason, it will remain with your phone, unless of course, if you hard-reset, then you will loose everything. My advise would be to backup your sd-card to your computer so that you don't have to waist time with downloading or even loose personal wallpapers/media.

To be honest i actually dont know, their are claims that its googles fault, or sammy's fault or even the ICS software thats installed....each points fingers at each other, cant say for sure other then the post i showed u that would be the answer, but other then that, all the card is good for is to store ure movies, pictures, CWM nandroids on it so u dont have to install em on ure internal card. so yes ure right thats all its good for, if u decide not to go the swap ext2sdinternalsd way.
Q&A for [4.4.x]Omni Nightlies for Find 7a/7s
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [4.4.x]Omni Nightlies for Find 7a/7s. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
I installed the nightly yesterday, got everything working, things have been going great... Except for one thing - my camera isn't working! Stock camera takes an entirely blank image and no file is saved, google camera doesn't take one at all. Anyone have any clues as to why? My searches are coming up empty.

Everything seems perfect except those random freezes I get while I'm gaming.
I'm on 02.11 , LVM setup, clean install.
Here is the logcat i took right after a freeze if you can get anything from it

Hi,
I'd like to use Omni with LVM enabled to unify the partitions, but is it possible to then also use Link2SD and add my external SD card to the storage pool? I have all my music on the ext SD card and my car only sees the primary drive when plugged in.

I have no idea regarding Link2SD, I've never found a valid use case for it for years.
As to the car only seeing the internal drive - that's kind of strange. MTP can access both internal and external storage, and UMS (even if it were working) would only be able to access the external card anyway (due to the internal one being ext4 even in a split configuration...)
Thanks for replying Entropy!
Maybe I could put the question another way if Link2SD isn't adequate....is there a way of including the external SDCard into the unified storage either by the LVM or another app so I just have one large volume?
With regards to the car, all I can say is that with my Nexus 4 it scanned all the music on it fine, but when I upgraded to the FInd 7a (with music on my ext SDCard) it only picks up the few songs on the internal storage. Hence my request above - although given I'd never take out the 64Gb card I'd prefer it to all be unified anyway.
Thanks

Adding the external SD to the LV pool would cause MASSIVE performance issues for the entire system.
Not sure what's going on, unless your car's MTP implementation is semi-broken. I will double check later this week but I'm POSITIVE both external and internal storage appear in MTP.
A while back I read that Omni Rom had integrated a feature like the Nexus 5 had that let you type a name in the phone app, and you would get results back. Is this feature still in the Rom, and how do I enable it if so?

Hey all. Just got omni and am really liking it. However im getting significantly worse battery life than before - seems ok when in use just not great in standby. Android kernel is the main culprit according to gsam. Im on the 17/11 nightly if that helps. Any tips welcomed as other than this the rom is great.

I have the same problem. As soon as I answer a call, the Screen goes black and stays black until I or the other person end the call.
Then you have to press the Power button two times to turn the screen on. I have checked for any option to enable screen during calls, but haven't found anything useful. The problem also exists with skype video calls.

Feature question
First of all I apologize for the noob feature question. I've unfortunately never had the pleasure of using Omni in any of my devices so I don't know if it's there.
My Find7a's hardware keys are shot. They just stopped working one day out of the clear blue. They take like 50 presses to register a hit. I was stock Color OS at the time and did the build.prop hack to get the softkeys. I didn't want to mess around with shipping it back since I don't live in the US and it would be difficult.
I am currently on Gummy ROM, which does have a specific setting for enabling softkeys. Does Omni have this? If so, I can make the jump, since everything else sounds wonderful and the LVM solves my current space crunch for apps better than any partition hacks I've seen before and dit not want to touch.
If it does, would someone be kind enough to point me to the specific place where I can enable them? If/when I do the whole process to do LVM and flash Omni, I will want to enable them with as few presses of Home or Back as possible, since they will be painfully unresponsive (or even totally dead by now, so if there is an adb way to enable it or a way to do it without touching the hardware keys it would be fantastic).
Thank you and I apologize again for the question. I just read about 15 pages of this thread and also searched for "softkeys" and found nothing so I thought I would ask.

Now it worked. I uninstalled all hidden drivers from system devices and installed again.

Where is the compass program?
Where is maxx audio?
Where is the "ultra" option in camera?
Where is the app drawer?
Why in antutu scores 41.000 and with color os 1.2.7i scores 45.000? Also i played some games and i have some lag. With color os i didnt.
Pls answer me.
Aosp roms don't have any ColorOS proprietary stuff. Also, benchmarks are unreliable. If you feel a game is lagging, try messing with the Performance settings. I personally find it just as smooth

Benchmarks are unreliable and rarely mean that much, however in general you will always see AOSP-derivative projects on Qualcomm hardware benchmark a bit lower than official factory firmwares as there are a number of proprietary tweaks that Qualcomm doesn't allow to be put into open source projects.
That said, the reduced bloat in AOSP-derivative firmwares more than makes up for the slight reduction in benchmark epeen size.
